The two of them tried to catch Logan, but the dragon was far too quick for them. Logan bit one of the men on the ankle as hard as he could.
“Ow! You little-“ he got his sword and swung at him.
Roman ran over, grabbing the guy's wrist and preventing him from swinging at Logan.
The man shoved Roman to the ground then kicked Logan off. Logan flew helplessly through the air before slamming into a wall.
Roman tried to scamper back, but one of the noblemen grabbed him and pinned his arms behind his back.
The other nobleman got his sword and pointed it directly at Roman. “I knew it, you good for nothing sorcerer,” he growled, “I should have done this when I first had the chance,” he raised his sword.
Logan jumped up. His eyes widened at the sight before him. He felt something go off inside him, like a primal instinct breaking through. His throat clicked and seconds later a beam of lightning shot out and hit the one holding the sword. Well that was new.
The bolt was clearly not very powerful, as the noblemen only seemed temporarily stunned.
But it was enough of a window for Roman to break free and get Logan. And if there was one thing roman was good at, it was running.
Roman took off his jacket and draped it over Logan to hide him as he ran into a busier street. He tried to use the people as cover for getting away.
He didn’t manage to get very far before he saw the two running after him. They had their swords out and looked ready to kill.
Roman ducked down another street, hoping to lose them. He took as many turns as he could. His lungs craved air but he kept running. Roman didn’t stop until he made it into the woods. He leaned against a tree, taking in heavy breaths.
Logan looked up at Roman, a bit concerned.
Roman smiled a little, looking down at Logan. “Thanks for the save, I dunno what I would’ve done without you,” he said softly, breathing becoming more normal.
Logan yipped happily, bumping his head against Roman’s leg.
Roman smiled, he picked Logan up again and held him close. “Let’s find your home, shall we?”
Roman and Logan walked for over an hour. Neither of them knew what to look for. Roman was on the lookout for some dragon cave, and Logan was trying to search for any sign of the woman who cursed him.
“Kai, I don’t see anything,” Roman mumbled. He thought this search was going to be easy, but that was clearly not the case. “I can’t stay out here forever. I never told anyone I was leaving, I don’t want them to think I went missing too,” he sat down on a fallen tree.
Logan looked up at Roman, whimpering softly. He couldn’t be stuck as a dragon forever. That couldn’t happen.
“I know little guy, I just don’t know what to do,” Roman sighed. “We’ve found nothing, no trace of your parents, no sign of a home. It’s like you just appeared out of thin air,”
Logan looked up at him, Roman wasn’t far from the truth.
“Well look who it is,” A voice said from in front of them.
Roman tensed, standing in front of Logan protectively. “Who are you?” He asked suspiciously.
“Why I am the owner of that dragon,”
Logan growled at her, this was the woman who cursed him.
Roman glanced back at Logan, then again to the woman. “He doesn’t look very happy to see you,” he said suspiciously.
“Ah, being in the castle has just put him on high alert. My little dragon, come to me,”
Logan’s body moved against his will. He slowly walked over to the sorceress. He whimpered softly, looking back at Roman. ‘Please don’t let me go with her’ he thought, he was defenseless against her.
“Wait one second-“ Roman said quickly “Why did you let him into the castle in the first place?” He asked. “It’s dangerous for him to be anywhere near here. If you truly cared about yourself and your dragon, you’d go far from this kingdom.”
She raised an eyebrow at him. “You seem to care a lot for this creature. Why?”
Roman blinked, surprised by the question. Why did he care so much? “Even though Kai is a creature of magic, he doesn’t deserve to be hurt. He deserves to live just like any other animal does. I just want him to be safe.”
The sorceress hummed. “Hm. I guess there is hope after all for this little dragon.” She picked Logan up, then turned to leave.
Roman ran forward “W-wait!”
She turned to him. “You should go back to the castle, your prince will return soon,” she disappeared in a cloud of smoke with Logan.
“How do you- wait-!” Roman stood there, not sure where they went or what to do. “Well… I got Kai back to his home like I said I would…” he mumbled. “I guess that really was goodbye…” he frowned, wishing he could’ve said a real goodbye.
Roman sighed, turning and heading back for town. Maybe what the sorceress said was true, and that the prince was back.
-
Logan shot up in bed. He looked around widely for the sorceress but… she was gone. And everything seemed normal…
Logan looked down at his hands. They were normal human hands. He quickly got out of bed and looked into the mirror. His human face was back, he was back!
A knock came from the door. Logan didn’t even have a chance to reply before Virgil opened the door and came inside. He seemed stressed about something.
“Virgil? What’s wrong?” Logan asked, a bit of worry in his voice.
Virgil jumped and looked up. “L-Logan?? What- how??”
Logan smiled slightly, “This is my room, is it not?”
“Where did you go?? You disappeared without a trace for a whole day!” Virgil huffed, clearly still stressed about it. He went over and hugged Logan tightly. “Did someone take you?? Did they hurt you??”
“Virgil relax,” Logan soothed. “I do not know what exactly happened. It feels like waking up from a bad dream,” he partially lied, the events of yesterday did feel like a dream.
“Seriously? You don’t know what happened??” Virgil frowned. “We should increase security. As far as I know, no one saw you come in or out. That means someone had you in their possession for a full day and none of us had a clue where you were.”
“Virgil, truly I’m alright. I believe my kidnapper was more trying to prove a point than to hurt me. I am confident that they won’t strike again,” Logan frowned, he felt bad for lying. But Virgil wouldn’t accept the truth.
“What if you’re wrong? What if they actually try and do damage? Or hurt you?” Virgil asked seriously. “They must’ve been using magic, we should find who did this and have them executed for treason and using magic.” He growled.
Logan sighed softly. As much as he disagreed with the sorceress, he knew she was very dangerous and capable of powerful magic. She didn’t seem like she used her magic to hurt other though. He didn’t know whether he should hunt her down or let her go. “Can we please talk about this later?” He asked softly after a minute of silence.
“Yeah. Of course. But till we do, I’m not leaving your side,” Virgil mumbled stubbornly.
“Aren’t you supposed to be guarding Roman?”
“He left early this morning. I have no clue where he went. I was on my way to put out a search for him but I decided to stop by your room first,” Virgil said softly “Roman has missed you a lot, he seems to really care about you,” he added quietly.
Logan remembered the way Roman had checked his room before they left. He also remembered how Roman claimed to be scared of the power the prince held over him… “I believe he’ll be back soon. Until then we should go to my father so he knows I’m not still missing and can cancel the warrant,”
Virgil nods, walking with Logan.
-
They made it to the throne room, Thomas was sitting down with his head leaned against his hand.
“Your majesty?” Logan asked softly.
Thomas blinked and looked up. “Logan, you’re back?” He stood and quickly went over to Logan, hugging him tightly.
Logan smiled softly “Yes father, I’m back I missed you greatly,” he whispered.
“I missed you too son, I’m so happy you’re back home, what happened to you?? You just disappeared!”
“I do not exactly know what happened… but I’m here now and that’s all that matters,”
“I will find who took you and I will make them pay.” Thomas said darkly, hugging Logan closer.
“Father.. I’m ok, they didn’t hurt me. I’d much rather forget about this whole ordeal.”
Thomas sighed softly “Fine. But you’re to be with a guard at all times. At least until your kidnapper is caught,”
Logan frowned but nodded. “As you wish, now if you’ll excuse me, I should go make an appearance with the knights and nobles so they know I’m no longer missing.”
“Fine fine, just one last hug,” Thomas squeezed him gently then let go. “I’m so glad you’re back home,”
“I love you,” he whispered, then pulled back and bowed before leaving.
Virgil stayed close to Logan, he was on high alert. He vowed to make sure nothing happened to the prince.
“Virgil, you can relax. No one will try and hurt me here.”
“You were taken from your chambers Logan! Nowhere is safe.”
“My kidnapper returned me without any injury, I’m sure there is an explanation,”
“How are you being so light about this??”
“Because I do not believe it’s a very serious threat, why would they return me if they wanted to hurt me or the kingdom?”
“Ok… that’s… fine. But I’m still not leaving your side.”
Logan smiled, “I wouldn’t mind your company,”
They made it into the commons area where all the knights and noblemen were.
“Prince Logan?!”
“He’s back!!”
“I can’t believe it!”
“Are you ok?!”
“What happened?!”
“Prince Logan is back everyone!!!”
Logan smiled and gave a small wave. “I hope everything was ok in my absence-“ Logan was suddenly pulled into a tight hug
“God I missed you dude,” the knight who was hugging him smiled.
Suddenly someone else joined the hug, then another, then another. Before logan knew it his entire castle guard was in a group-hug around him.
“Uh- nice to know I was missed,” Logan didn’t know how to react to all of the touch.
“Hello?? Of course you were missed!! Look- we do care about you dude… even if we don’t always show it,”
“You…. Do?” He knew the question was silly to ask, why say it if he didn’t mean it? But a bit of reassurance would be nice.
“ ‘course we do,” they eventually let him go.
Just in that moment, Roman came bursting through the door. “Your majesty??” He spotted Logan and almost melted with relief.
“Ah, hello Roman, I was wondering where you were,” Logan hummed.
“Yeah, where were you Roman?” Virgil asked, suspicious.
Roman tensed slightly, he bowed his head. “I was scouting the woods near the castle to see if I could find anything about The Princes disappearance,”
Virgil sighed “you could’ve gotten hurt, why didn’t you let me come with you??”
“I knew you were up late last night, I figured you wanted to sleep in. I’m very sorry,”
“It’s ok Roman, next time don’t go out alone,” Logan said softly.
Roman smiled a little, he moved forward to Logan. “I’m so glad you’re back,”
Romans looked like he wanted to hug Logan ….but they weren’t there yet. So Logan just put a hand on Roman’s shoulder, to make sure he didn’t try the hug. “thank you, that’s appreciated,”
Roman smiled. “Are you ok sire?”
“I’m quite alright. I was returned without any harm done to me. I would like to talk to you alone Roman,”
Roman tensed nervously. Did Logan know about the dragon?? “Y-yes sir,” he bowed his head.
Virgil looked at him suspiciously “I don’t want you out of my sight Lo.”
“Then we will just be on the other side of the courtyard, where you can watch us,”
“….fine.” Virgil crossed his arms slightly.
Logan led Roman away and sat them both down on a bench.
“Wh-what did you want to talk about your majesty?” Roman could barely keep his voice from shaking.
Logan looked at him curiously, trying to figure out the panic. Before Roman could worry himself to death, he spoke. “I know with my absence, you must have had a lot of fears as to what might happen to you.”
He blinked, a bit surprised. “I- uh- yeah honestly I was terrified…”
“I can tell you that no matter what, even in my absence, nothing will happen to you. You won’t go back to the dungeon, or be banished, or anything. Especially now I will make sure my father protects you in case I ever go missing again,”
“Sire- that- that really isn’t necessary-“ he was shocked.
“I insist. I can’t imagine the kind of fear you’ve felt in the last day,”
“Thank you your majesty- th-thank you,”
Logan smiled a little, glad he could ease Roman’s worries, even if it was just a little. He didn’t entirely know how to handle all these emotions. So he just stood and dusted himself off. “I should get to work, I’m sure I have a lot of work that’s piled up in my absence,”
Roman tilted his head. “You literally went missing- can’t you just take the day off?”
Logan almost scoffed. “Roman, I am the prince, there is no such thing as ‘taking the day off’ in my world. I have far too much to do.”
“You’ve seriously never had a day off??”
“Hm, well there was one time a few years ago where I got injured during combat training, so I had to stay in the medical wing for a few days,”
“….that- sire. If you have to go back that far to find a day off, then you need a break.”
“Roman I just said I cannot take breaks or days off. I must always stay busy so that I can be the best prince I can be,”
“If you insist…” Roman mumbled, now determined to get Logan to take some kind of break. Even the prince was only human.
“Now, Virgil says he will stay with me until my kidnapper is found. So I guess that means you’re coming with me too, let’s go,”
“Yes sir,” Roman nodded, following Logan and Virgil through the halls. Logan checked up on things all around the castle, making plans and decisions on the spot with such confidence. It was quite interesting to watch.
Things went quite smoothly, until…
“Prince Logan! Wait!” The two noblemen that attacked him and Logan before caught up with them.
“Sir Alaric, Sir Lucian. You have my attention” Logan looked at the two suspiciously. These were the ones who attacked Roman on his first day. He noticed Roman visibly tense.
“Your servant, he was stowing a baby dragon. We saw it ourselves! It attacked us!” Lucian said, glaring over at Roman.
Virgil blinked, gears turning in his head. He remembered the dragon he saw last night.
Romans eyes widened “Your majesty, I-“
Logan put a hand up to silence him. “You two have made it clear of your dislike for my servant. But really? A dragon?” He looked at them blankly “It’s clear you’re making this up to get my servant into trouble.”
“Your majesty with all due respect, we should hold more sway over you than a simple peasant!” Alaric growled angrily.
“Indeed you should. But that doesn’t mean you can make baseless accusations with no proof. I mean really where would this ‘simple peasant’ even acquire such a creature? And why would he bring it here of all places?” Logan folded his arms behind his back. “Your claim has no evidence, it doesn’t make the slightest bit of sense, and you already have a grudge against my servant. So I ask you, isn’t it wise for me to be suspicious of your intentions?”
The two men growled angrily. “Yes your majesty.”
“And even if this were true. Does that mean that two of my knights couldn’t handle an infant dragon and a boy with no training in combat?”
“Your majesty the dragon-“
Logan put his hand up and silenced him. “Stop Sir Lucian, I will not take any more of your lies. If you supposedly can’t take on a baby dragon, then I believe it will do you both good to increase your training hours. Effective immediately. Don’t you agree?”
“Yes your majesty” they growled in unison.”
“Good. Then we all agree here. No if you’ll excuse us, we have business to attend to. You are dismissed.” He said sharply, watching as they left.
Logan sighed, Lucian and Alaric had been rather brute but he did feel bad for being so harsh to them. Especially since he knew for a fact Roman stowed a dragon, and smuggled it out of the castle. But Roman probably saved his life, it was the least he could do.
Roman smiled happily as they left. “Th-thank you Prince Logan,”
Logan glanced over at him. The smallest hint of a smile crossed his lips. “I trust you Roman,” he said softly “There aren’t many who can see it, but I know you only have good intentions here.”
He looked up at Logan, surprised. “Thank you, your majesty. Your words mean a lot to me”
Virgil stepped in. “Woah woah, are you sure they were lying about the dragon thing?? What if they were telling the truth??”
“Virgil not you too, I know Roman would never try to smuggle a dragon. Right Roman?”
“Y-yes sir, of-of course,” Roman said quickly. “Never in a million years,”
Logan nods “see? This isn’t the first time Roman has been falsely accused of something without proof, and that almost cost him his life. That will never happen again.”
Virgil nodded “Right, yeah… sorry Roman,”
“No harm done sir,” Roman relaxed, that was too easy, he was surprised Logan was so on his side about all of this.

Characters: Roman, Logan, Virgil
Triggers: Dragons, panic/anxiety, threatening, gaslighting (i think?), spiraling with anxiety, slight violence.
Little summary since it’s been a while since the last chapter: Roman was convicted of magic and sentenced to death, but Logan proved him innocent. Roman got a job as Logan's servant. Logan got cursed and turned into a tiny blue dragon, he was out for a midnight stroll when Virgil the Knight spotted him and chased him down. Logan ran to Roman’s room, and that’s where this chapter starts.
Roman sleepily opened his eyes, going and opening the door. “Sir Virgil? What’s wrong?” He asked tiredly.
“I know it’s in here, where is the dragon??” Virgil tried to look inside.
Roman quickly concealed his panic. Deny everything. It’s what’s worked before. “What dragon?” He asked, acting skills coming with ease.
“I saw it come in here! A tiny blue dragon!”
Roman stared at him “Sir Virgil, I know you’re stressed about Logan, and you probably haven’t slept in almost a day. Are you sure you’re not just seeing things?”
“No, there was a dragon, I know there was. I’m sure it’s somewhere around here! Now let me come in and look around!” His voice became more serious.
Roman stood his ground. He blocked Virgil’s path. “You’re not searching my room because of a baseless accusation.”
Virgil grabbed Roman by the collar. “Move out of my way, sorcerer,” his tone was cold and void of compassion.
Romans eyes widened, he struggled in Virgil’s grip. “I-I’m sorry sir- I- I-“
Logan watched from under the bed. His brow furrowed in worry.
Virgil realized what he was doing and quickly let go. “Roman- I- I’m-“
Roman scampered away from him. His head bowed as he shied away in fear. “It's alright sir. Y-you can check my room. Y-you have more power than I do.”
Virgil frowned, guilt lacing his voice. “No- Roman- I.. I trust you. I’m- I’m sorry.”
Roman looked up ever so slightly. “Th-thank you, sir. I do wish you the best of luck in finding your dragon,”
Virgil rubbed his eyes, from both stress and tiredness. “Actually I think I’m just going to go to bed. I was scouting in case Logan…” he trailed off “But I’ll be of more use in the morning if I’m rested.”
Roman nodded slightly. “Then I bid you Goodnight”
Virgil nodded, waving a little then leaving for his own room.
Roman closed the door then sunk against the wall, hands shaking as he buried his face in them.
Logan came out, gently brushing against him.
Roman looked up. “I-I’m sorry you had to see that Kai. Sir Virgil, he-he’s usually not like that I… I don’t know what happened,” he mumbled, voice shaking a little.
Logan sat against Roman. He wasn’t very great at comforting, but he was a small adorable animal. It didn’t get much more comforting than that.
Roman looked over at him, petting him softly. He seemed to calm down a bit. “It’s late, we should get back to bed,” he scooped Logan up and got back in bed.
Instead of letting Logan curl up on one of the pillows, Roman hugged Logan close to his chest. Logan was very surprised, but allowed it to happen. Roman just thought of him as a tiny dragon, not as the prince.
Logan found himself falling asleep very quickly now that he was cuddled with the latter.
Morning came all too quickly. For once Logan didn’t want to leave bed, he was far too comfortable. But Roman slowly got up and began getting ready.
Logan sleepily turned over, watching him curiously. The sun hadn’t even risen yet. What on earth was Roman doing?
Roman pulled off his shirt and Logan quickly averted his eyes. Once he figured Roman was decent, he turned back and continued watching him.
Roman quickly got dressed then left the room.
Logan followed cautiously, curiosity driving him. He stayed back a little in case someone saw him and he had to make a run for it. Roman stopped outside of the prince's room and knocked softly. He seemed both nervous and hopeful.
“Prince Logan? Are you in there?” There was no reply. “Prince Logan?” He called a little louder.
Logan went over and gently brushed against Roman’s leg.
Roman jumped and looked down at him. He couldn’t help but smile softly. “Sorry Kai, but if Prince Logan sees you, we’ll both be in a lot of trouble. You need to go back to my room” he said softly.
Logan went to the door and scratched at it.
“No- Kai, we can’t go in there. Not without the prince's permission,” Roman went to pick Logan up, but Logan dodged him. He jumped up and managed to pull the doorhandle and swing open the door. He quickly went inside.
“Kai!” Roman hissed in a whisper, he hesitated before following after. “Kaida, get back here right now!!”
Logan jumped onto the bed, he looked up at Roman. He wasn’t sure why Roman was so nervous.
Roman looked around, like he was terrified something would jump out at any second. “Kai, please, we need to get out of here,”
Logan narrowed his eyes at Roman, trying to convey ‘not until you tell me what’s wrong’.
Roman sighed, “if I’m caught in here, especially with a miniature dragon, then I’m either going back to the dungeon or I’m gonna be killed on the spot. I know prince Logan hasn’t been seen in a day, but if he- or anyone catches me here I might be fired, and then I’d have nowhere to go and I’d probably end up starving on the streets.” He hugged himself tightly “so can we please get out of here?”
Logan looked up at a portrait of himself on the wall. He growled softly, upset with himself that Roman was so scared. He had done a terrible job of helping Roman.
Roman noticed him and gently pet him. “Prince Logan is a good person,” he sounded slightly defensive. “He’s done so much for me. He- he just- he holds so much power over me, what- what if one day I slip up and he sends me back to the dungeons? Or he banishes me? I’m not scared of him, I’m just scared of what he could do when he grows bored of me.” He looked ashamed of himself.
Logan gently nuzzled into Roman’s hand, trying his best to be comforting.
Roman chuckled a little. “I’ve just spilt my emotions to a tiny dragon, my life just keeps getting weirder and weirder,” he scooped Logan up “Come on, I promised I’d get you home. I intend to keep that.” He carried Logan back out. Roman got a small bookbag and put Logan inside it.
Logan huffed, he didn’t like being stuffed in a bag like this.
“I know, I know. It’s just until we get out of the main city and lower town. Then you can come out,” Roman said softly. He clasped the bag shut and quickly tried to sneak out before Virgil came to guard him.
Things went smoothly, the castle wasn’t very busy and most people paid him no attention.
Roman was happy to get out of the castle, he hadn’t left since he was arrested. Logan had wanted him to stay in the castle for a while until his release from the dungeon had blown over.
He was beginning to get a few stares now, but he just kept going. Determined to help the tiny dragon. Roman ducked down a less busy street to get away from everyone’s stares.
“You ok in there?” Roman whispered to Logan.
Logan gave an affirmative yip.
Roman nodded, speeding up his pace. Empty street was making him feel slightly vulnerable. He paused, hearing footsteps behind him. Oh not again-
“Well well well. Look who it is” It was the noblemen who attacked him on his first day.
Roman carefully took off his bag, he didn’t want Logan getting hurt. “What do you want?” He asked in a growl. They must’ve followed him.
“Your precious little prince isn’t here to save you now. So why don’t we have some fun? Filthy sorcerer,” One of them spat. He grabbed Roman and pinned him to the wall.
The other got Romans bag off the ground “Let’s see what you're hiding in here. Is it for spells?”
“No- don't!” Roman tried to say, but he already opened the bag. Logan jumped out, claws digging into the nobleman's shoulder.
The one holding Roman gasped and let go. “Dragon,” he whispered. “You’re actually smuggling a dragon?! Oh the king will have your head for this one.” He shoved Roman to the ground then went after Logan.
Authors note: I think I am offically back with writing the crown and the queer, and oh how ive missed it. There may be a few changes with update times or slight changes with my writing style. Overall i will try to continue as if the fic was never paused. I hope everyone enjoys!
What a load of shit. Janus rummaged through the box, pulling out an old photo of Virgil when he was first gifted his jacket. The black one. That had the checkered pattern. His look.
The old one at least.
Janus felt a rage that festered inside of him. A heat that burned in his brain. A fire that needed to be put out in his heart.
Nothing could relieve the pain.
In a fit of rage Janus tore the photo in his hands into halves. He regretted it. He let out a frantic gasp, grasping at the pieces. He tried to fit them back together, letting out choked noises of regret, chastising himself.
He tried to reconnect the photo. Keep it intact. It didn't work.
Tears. Tears splattered onto the photo, further ruining the memory. Janus dropped the pieces to his bed, choking back the growing pain. Choking back his tears. He picked up the pieces, gently placing them back inside the box and shutting the lid. He pulled the box close, hugging it to his chest.
And he cried. He cried and he cried and it wouldn't stop.
"I'm not leaving. Ever."
Why did that, of all the things he said, have to be the most bold-faced lie.
Janus gasped, quickly wiping his tears. God no one could ever find him crying.
“What.. what happened?” Virgil asked from the doorway, uncomfortable and awkward.
“That is none of your business.” Janus hissed out, clutching the box and trying to leave. He had hidden the box in Virgil’s old room. Somewhere Virgil never went anymore.
Virgil blocked him, the anxiety and stress was basically radiating off of Janus. It was too much to ignore. “Were you crying?”
“Of course not. Your room is just so dusty it’s setting off my allergies.” Janus lied, looking away from Virgil. “What are you doing here anyways? I thought you were ‘too good’ for the dark side.” He glared.
Virgil shifted awkwardly, looking away as well. “I forgot one of my nightmare before Christmas posters.. it was always in my closet so I forgot about it until now… uh- are you ok..?”
Janus sighed, knowing how stubborn Virgil was whenever he was worried about someone. “You promised you’d never leave.” It was so quiet, he wasn’t sure if Virgil could hear. He didn’t care. He’d wanted to say this to Virgil ever since he became a light side.
“I-… I did..” Virgil scratched at his arm nervously. Janus and him had left things off quite badly, he honestly thought Janus hated him. Janus actually missed him?
“You were like my son virgil. You just left. You never said goodbye, you know how that felt?”
Virgil finally brought himself to meet janus’ eyes. He expected them to be angry, but they were just sad. “I’m sorry Jan.. I’m really sorry, I- I can come visit sometimes if you’d like..? I’ve- I’ve missed you a lot..”
Janus blinked, not expecting that. “Makes no difference to me,” he lied.
Virgil smiled a little “Cmon, let’s go watch a movie.”
(I COULDNT LEAVE IR ANGST IM SORRY (I’m very tired idk if this is good ahjsjfkfk))
Summary: Logan asks Roman if he would still love him as a worm. Roman thinks things take a quite literal turn.
Triggers: Slight anxiety, worms, very brief mention of panic attack, kissing
Logan looked up from his book to Roman, they had been dating for a few months now and he had a pressing question. It was illogical, sure, but he couldn’t help but ask.
“Roman?”
“Yes Logan?” Logan looked up from his computer, he was writing himself and all his daring adventures.
“Would you still love me if I was a worm?”
“..I’m sorry?” Roman looked at Logan, never expecting such a question from such a logical individual.
“If I was a worm, would you still love me?” He frowned, showing that he wasn’t joking. He fiddled with his hands nervously.
“Oh specs, of course I would. You would make the most adorable worm ever,” he smiled softly. “Where did this question come from?”
“Well Virgil was helping me with a little experiment involving worms and he asked if I would still be his friend if he was a worm. Of course I thought it was illogical of course, who would be friends with a worm? I mean it would be quite silly. But then Virgil started explaining himself a bit and I mean… would you ever date a worm?” Logan rambled nervously.
Roman stood, going over and cupping Logan’s cheeks. “I don’t care who, or what you are. I’ll still love you with all my heart, and I’d date you anyways,” He planted a small kiss on Logan’s forehead.
Logan seemed content, he relaxed against Roman. “I love you,”
“I love you too,” he sat down next to Logan and gently pet his hair. Logan was weird, he loved it.
Logan continued reading for a bit before dozing off against Roman. Roman happily went to sleep as well.
When Roman awoke the next morning, Logan was nowhere to be found. He sat up, looking around. “Lo?”
After there was no answer, roman jumped up and began looking around.
He noticed that Logan’s door was wide open, which was unusual, Logan usually kept his door closed even when he wasn’t in there.
“Looogggaaaaan?” Roman looked inside and gasped audibly.
Dirt and worms were scattered all across Logan’s desk. On the floor there was a pile of the pajamas Logan was wearing last night. Logan’s phone was on the nightstand, as were his glasses, which were broken.
“Logan..?” Roman looked to the desk where the worms were. Logan’s question from last night plagued his mind.
No. That was crazy, of course Logan wasn’t a worm.
Roman sighed softly, gently cleaning up the worms on the desk. Logan had a few as pets, he was studying their behaviors for some collage class that Roman didn’t understand anything about.
Once everything was cleaned up, he took his phone out and called Virgil.
“Hello,”
“Hey, Virge, is Logan w-“
“I can’t come to the phone right now, or maybe I just don’t wanna talk to people right now. Just text me whatever it is, I’ll get back to you in a week or so,” It was a voicemail. The automated voicebox came on “If you would wish to leave a message, press 1 after the-“
Roman sighed and hung up. There had to be an explanation right?? Logan was not a worm.
He paced for a second or so, trying to think of where Logan could be. His car was still in the driveway, his phone was still here, so we’re his glasses, so Logan had to be here right??
Roman looked around for any other clue of where Logan could be. He noticed a tiny worm on the ground, it was inching towards his shoe.
“No. No- no way,” he furrowed just brows, gently picking the worm up and setting it on the desk. He poured some water on it to keep it from drying up.
“Gosh- this- this can’t be real right?? Logan, is that you??”
The worm didn’t move, it just laid there in the water.
“Uh- Lo if that’s you, know I still love you ok? And I’m gonna find a way to change you back. Your my boyfriend, and I still love you with all my heart, even if your a worm,” he gently pet the worm with his finger, everything processing in his brain.
In the next moment, the front door quietly opened.
Roman barely even noticed, he was too focused on his worm-boyfriend.
“….Roman, why are you petting my worm?” Logan asked from the doorway.
Roman jumped, looking between the worm and Logan. “You- you- I thought you were a worm!”
“…..how in the world did you come to that conclusion?”
“Well your clothes were in a pile on the floor, and you left your phone and glasses here, and your car was still in the driveway, and your worms were knocked over- and- and well this one came right up to me!! I thought it was you!!”
Logan couldn’t help but laugh. Roman was such a dummy and he loved it. “Virgil called me in the middle of the night because he was having a really bad panic attack and needed someone there with him. I had quickly changed into something presentable and ran to his house. It’s only a block away,”
“Ok but why not take your phone and glasses?”
“I was merely in a rush, I forgot my phone and I had to change to my spare pair of glasses since mine broke while sleeping in them.”
“..and the tank being knocked over?”
“It was dark, I didn’t want to turn the light on and risk waking you, I must’ve bumped into it without realizing,” Logan chuckled softly. “You actually thought I had turned into a worm?”
“I- I mean- kinda! J proclaimed my love to worm-you and everything!” Roman smiled a little, he couldn’t help but laugh as well.
“Well I guess you would really still love me if I was a worm then,” Logan smiled softly.
“You know it,” roman let out another small laugh and hugged Logan close.

Heyo everyone! An update that I wish I didn’t have to make.
The crown and the queer, as with any other fics I had in the works have been put on hold. I may post chapter 6, but I haven’t edited it or anything so I don’t know if it’s worth posting.
I’m really sorry to do this!!! I know some people adore the fic, and I will continue it I promise! I have too many ideas just to leave it here.
Due to things in my personal life, I think it’s best if I leave things like this on hold. I may write if I feel like it, or post little ficlets now and again, but I truly can’t promise anything.
Summary: Roman’s life takes a turn for the worse when he’s convicted of magic and sentenced to death. But when Prince Logan saves his life, a lot of feelings are stirred. Roman is grateful for the save, but he knows his life will never be the same again.
Word count: 1661
Characters: Roman, Logan, Virgil
Triggers: Injuries/blood, anxiety/panic, someone thinking they’re gonna die, talk of vanishing/kidnapping, weapons (sword), dragons, being attacked, let me know if anything needs to be added!!
Logan’s eyes widened, he quickly scrambled under the bed, curling up as small as he could.
There was a sound of the door opening. Logan watched Roman’s footsteps as they quietly walked around the room.
“Prince Logan?” He called out “Sire are you in here?”
Despite himself, Logan whimpered softly. He was terrified of what would happen if he was found. His thoughts felt much more muted, he felt very in tune with his emotions. Especially the emotions that screamed ‘danger’.
Roman clearly heard as he approached the bed. “Your majesty?” He looked around for a second, then slowly got on his hands and knees and peered under the bed. “Oh.. my.. stars..” his eyes landed on Logan.
Logan’s body moved faster than his brain. He jumped out at Roman, teeth clamping down on the first thing they could. Guilt swelled through him at the way Roman yelled out in pain. Once the prince was sure that Roman was distracted, he quickly let go and jumped onto Romans shoulder before trying to fly away. Because yeah, he has wings now.
He was able to glide away for a few seconds before two hands grabbed him. He struggled in Romans grasp as hard as he could.
“Hey- hey, calm down, I’m not going to hurt you” Roman said softly, voice soft and comforting. He winced slightly at the use of his arm.
Logan felt calmness radiating through him, it was so odd how the simple words affected him. He stopped struggling and glanced back at Roman.
Roman was peering up at him, worry and care in his eyes. “That’s it, you're safe, see? Gosh you must be terrified,”
The Dragon-Prince felt a bit belittled at how Roman talked to him, but this was better than Roman killing him. So Logan would allow it.
Roman gently set Logan down on the bed. He winced slightly and peered down at his arm, which was now bleeding from Logan biting him. He noticed Logan’s worried expression and gave a small smile. “Don’t worry little guy, you were just scared, I’ll be ok,” he glanced down and realized the blood had dripped onto the floor a little. “But I won’t be if I don’t get this cleaned up..” he mumbled.
Logan watched as Roman got a washcloth and cleaned the blood as best as he could. He threw it away then went and found some bandages. He simply wrapped it up then secured it and went back to the tiny dragon.
Logan frowned, Roman seemed more concerned about the mess than the bite. He hardly seemed to care about his injury.
The servant noticed his expression and sighed “I know, I know. I’ll take care of the bite after I know you’re safe. Now C'mon, we need to get out of here before the prince returns.”
Roman wrapped Logan up in a blanket then quickly took him to his room.
Logan leaned into the latter, he’d never seen this side of Roman. Roman was always so tense around him, it was almost relieving to see that he was capable of relaxing.
Roman paced around his room, trying to think of a plan. The blanket trick would work for navigating the halls, but not for getting the dragon out of the castle walls. Heh, that rhymed.
Logan watched him curiously. He was both in shock and relieved that Roman would help him. But he also realized Roman would do this with any miniature dragon and that ticked him off slightly.
“Maybe I could say the prince sent me to one of the outer villages to check on things? No.. that’s not believable..” Roman mumbled in thought. “I could say I’m going to visit my home? No- Everyone knows I’d never be accepted there...” he hugged himself and sat down on the bed. He saw Logan looking up at him and put on a smile “Don’t worry lil guy, I’ll think of something, promise,”
Logan hesitated, then gently went over to the worried latter. He curled up in Romans lap and did his best to soothe the others' worries.
“Thanks buddy” Roman mumbled softly, gently petting Logan behind the ears.
Logan was surprised at how good that felt. He found himself purring softly. God he hoped Roman never found out who he truly was.
“I should probably name you, huh?” Roman mumbled, smiling softly. “What about… Kaida? Or Kai for short?”
Logan looked up at him, it was a nice name. But he was not a pet, he was a prince. He had to act like it, despite how comfortable Roman was. He got out of the latter‘s lap.
Roman laughed a little “Aww come on, don’t get all grumpy. It’s a nice name! I think it fits you,” he smiled.
Logan barely got a chance to reply before there was a loud knocking at the door.
Roman jumped, fear flashing through his eyes. Logan mirrored him.
“Roman?? Are you in there??” Virgil called out, he sounded worried.
Roman tensed, he looked down at Logan. “You need to hide, and be very quiet ok? No noises” he whispered, quickly scooping Logan up and shutting him in his wardrobe.
“Yeah, Sir Virgil, I’m in here! You can come in!” Roman called back. His casual tone from before had vanished, replaced with the tense nervousness that Logan usually heard from him.
Virgil opened the door, quickly walking over to him. “Oh thank god, I’ve looked everywhere for you!! What are you still doing in your room??”
Logan watched them through the small crack in between the doors.
Roman stepped back from Virgil nervously. “I-I couldn’t find the prince, so I was in here- uh.. resting,”
Virgil pinched the bridge of his nose. “God I don’t know how you’ve lasted a week. Look- you can’t just take the day off. I’m sure Logan is probably here somewhere, wondering where the heck you are! Do you seriously want to get yourself fired?? Because Logan will not hesitate!”
Roman tensed more, breathing quickening. He bowed his head, folding his hands behind his back to hide the fact that they were shaking. “I’m sorry sir, it won’t happen again,” he mumbled.
Virgil realized his panic and stepped back a little. “It’s- it’s fine. I’ll cover for you, but just this once. Come on, we need to go find Logan.”
Roman glanced over at his wardrobe, where Logan was hiding. “Uh- can I do one thing real quick?”
Virgil narrowed his eyes a little. But nodded “Go ahead.” He turned and stepped outside.
Roman closed the door, then quickly went over to the wardrobe. He opened it and took Logan out. “I’m so sorry, I have to work. I promise I’ll be back as soon as I can,” he whispered. “Don’t leave this room ok? If anyone comes here you’re going to have to hide.” He sat Logan down on the bed. “Please stay safe Kai,”
-
It was nighttime before Roman came back. Logan was curled up on Romans pillow. He looked up as Roman came inside.
Roman sat down on the bed, running a hand through his hair in stress. “H-he’s gone. The prince- he just vanished,” he mumbled. “We’ve been looking for him all day, but there isn’t a single trace of him anywhere.”
Logan frowned, standing and gently sitting on Roman’s thigh.
He looked down at the miniature dragon. “Do- do you know anything? I found you in his room. Do you know where he is??”
Logan just stared up at Roman. He didn’t know how to tell him that the prince was right in his lap.
Roman sighed “Right..” he mumbled, knowing he wouldn’t get an answer. “The castle is on high alert, so I can’t get you out tonight. But in the morning I’ll say I’m going to scout outside the walls and then I’ll get you free” he mumbled. “Do you have parents?”
Logan tilted his head a little, nodding or shaking his head would be too human.
“I guess we’ll worry about it in the morning… for now let’s just get some sleep ok?”
Logan jumped out of Roman’s lap. He curled up on the pillow and tried to fall back asleep.
A few hours passed and Logan still couldn’t sleep. He had slept most of the day and was now wide awake. He huffed in annoyance and stood, stretching out. He glanced to the door, maybe he could go on a midnight stroll. It’s not like anyone would be awake at this hour.
He jumped off the bed and stalked over to the door.
He poked his head out the door and looked around. Just as he expected, the halls were empty. He walked around, still surprised at how big everything was. If Logan didn’t know his way around as well as he did, he could easily get lost.
He heard footsteps approaching and quickly hid behind a tapestry.
Virgil came turning the corner. “Who's there???” He narrowed his eyes, raising the torch to try and see better. He noticed out of the corner of his eye that the tapestry moved a little. He slowly stalked over to it. He got out his sword and used it to move the tapestry. He saw Logan and his eyes widened “What the- dragon!”
Logan’s eyes widened, the maneuver he pulled on Roman earlier definitely wouldn’t cut it. Plus he didn’t want to hurt Virgil. The only other option was to run.
Virgil put the torch in a wall Mount so he could better hold his sword. He quickly swung at Logan, only narrowly missing.
Logan ran as fast as his little legs would take him, which was surprisingly fast.
“Get back here!!” Virgil yelled, chasing after.
Logan quickly ducked back into Roman’s room, scampering under the bed.
Virgil was close enough to see Logan duck into away, but not close enough to see where. His best guess was Roman’s room, of course he would be harboring a dragon.
(I’m SO sorry I thought I answered this forever ago)
🙅: what’s one trope you’ll never write?
Hmmmmm I’m usually pretty open with fics. I won’t write NSFW tho, nothing past cuddles and kisses. Also the “it was all a dream” trope (is that a real trope? Idk) is one I just don’t vibe with.
💡: What’s the weirdest thing you’ve been inspired by?
High school ELA class. (For those who don’t know, ELA is basically just reading/writing class). We were learning about putting emphasis on different words or smth and that’s how I got the inspo for the ‘I love you’ fic.
❤️: who’s your favorite character to write?
If we’re talking about sander sides, Roman. He’s fun, easy to write, can be angsty or funny, plus his dynamic with other characters is very enjoyable.
If we’re talking anyone tho, my OC Lance Davis. I think I have about 25,000-30,000 words total for him. So like by far my longest series. I don’t know what it is about him, he was originally made for an RP but I find him very enjoyable to write!
I’ve never posted any of the fics, but if it’s something anyone would be interested in I can touch them up and post them!!
Once again I’m so sorry!! I do remember writing the answers for this ask, but I guess I never hit post!!! Thank you so very much for sending asks in!!!
Summary: Roman’s life takes a turn for the worse when he’s convicted of magic and sentenced to death. But when Prince Logan saves his life, a lot of feelings are stirred. Roman is grateful for the save, but he knows his life will never be the same again.
Characters: Logan, Roman, Sorceress (Dragon witch), Ellious OC, mentions of Virgil and Patton.
Trigger warnings: Dragon, Threats, Dagger/weapons, mention of dungeons, anger, anxiety/nervousness, slight talk of discrimination (against magic-users), mentions of killing/attempted killing, slightly U!Logan,
I think that’s all!! Lemme know if anything needs to be added or removed. Also, there are a lot of triggers but this isn’t that heavy of a chapter.
Authors note: So sorry for such a late chapter!! Some of the juicy stuff is about to go down thought >:)) I think updates are going to be a little more spread out, but I’ll definitely try and keep a consistent-ish updating schedule! I hope everyone understands!!!

Roman walked through the halls with Logan. They were simply trying to kill time before dinner.
Roman noticed he was getting a few suspicious stares. His arrest had been highly advertised, as were all magic-based arrests. No one dared say anything with Logan around though, which was a little comforting.
“We can stop by the library if you’d like,” Logan offered, glancing over at Roman. “Or by the medical wing, your wrists seem irritated by the chains you were held in,”
“Whatever you’d like, your majesty,” Roman said softly, looking to the ground.
“You are allowed to have an opinion, Roman. You don’t just have to do whatever I do,” Logan said stiffly, he was quite used to everyone blindly agreeing with him and it was tiring.
“R-right, of course, your majesty,” Fear shot through Roman, he was scared he had upset the prince.
Logan just sighed, figuring Roman had his reasons for acting this way. He didn’t realize how scared Roman truly was. “Let’s go to the medical wing, ok? So that you can be checked for any other injuries,”
“Thank you, sire” Roman bowed his head.
“Of course. Let’s make haste,” he sped up his pace.
They continued their walk in silence. Roman looked up at Logan, he wished he could tell what the prince was thinking. It felt like Logan cared about him, but at the same time it felt like Logan wanted nothing to do with him.
He continued to look around at everyone else, he noticed one servant in particular seemed upset to see Roman. He had seen the servant several times, but this time he seemed different… more determined about something…
Roman locked eyes with him, the servant glared. He reached for something on his belt.
“Your majesty watch out!” Roman said quickly.
Logan glanced over at Roman, confused. In an instant the servant pulled out a dagger and lunged for them.
Logan was caught off guard, but Roman quickly grabbed the servant's arm.
“Ellious, what are you doing?!” Logan quickly regained himself and got Ellious from Roman. He pinned the attacker to the wall and pried the dagger out of his hands.
“Saving you, your majesty!” Ellious growled, he glared at Roman out of the corner of his eye. “The sorcerer has you under a spell! Once he’s dead then you’ll be free of him!”
“I am in my right mind Ellious, you have no right to attack me or him,” Logan growled seriously.
“I wasn’t attacking you, your majesty. I thought that the royal family was supposed to take care of filthy magic-users, but apparently we have to take matters into our own hands when you let one walk right out of the dungeon!”
Logan narrowed his eyes. “You will be in the dungeon if you don’t swear to me that you won’t try and attack us again,”
“Send me to the dungeon! But send the sorcerer as well!! His kind deserves to be destroyed!”
Logan called over a guard. “Take him to the dungeon and keep a constant guard on him. I’ll figure out what to do with him after I deal with Roman.”
-
Logan was getting the things on his list, quite lost in his head. He accidentally bumped into a small old lady and all of their things went tumbling.
Logan couldn’t help but huff angrily, he was already tense and now all of his things were everywhere.
“Prince Logan,” The woman whispered in surprise.
“Uh- yes, that is indeed my name,” Logan mumbled flatly, trying to pick up his things and be on his way.
She scowled down at him. “You are selfish and cold. Everyone likes you just because you’re a prince but you have no personality at all. You’re just as cold and heartless as your father.”
“Excuse me?!” Logan looked up at her.
“My son was convicted of magic, and you and your father didn’t hesitate to take him from me. Your family is full of murders!”
Logan felt anger rising in him. Who did this woman think she was?
“The only reason anyone cares for you is because of your title, but what if you were in a form so vile that no one could care for you?”
“Are you threatening me?” Logan glared, he put a hand on his sword and took a step towards the woman.
Suddenly a hand grabbed his shoulder. Logan spun around and unsheathed his sword, he pointed it towards his attacker.
Roman jumped back, he had a basket full of stuff. He quickly put his arms up in surrender. “I-I’m sorry for grabbing you sire, I truly didn’t mean any harm,” he said quickly, voice fearful.
Logan lowered his sword. He turned back to where the woman was but she had vanished.
“Uhm- what’s wrong, sire?”
“Nothing.” He mumbled, looking around. The woman was probably full of empty threats, there wasn’t anything to worry about.
“Right… are you ok?”
“I’m fine, Roman. I still have a few things to get off of my list, go sit by the fountain until I’m done,” Logan said softly, barely sparing Roman a glance.
Roman looked at the prince cautiously, something was clearly off. He just did as he was told, not wanting to further upset him.
Roman sat down on one of the benches, he realized he was getting a few dirty looks. He just kept his head down and tapped his foot nervously.
He could hear them whispering, it filled him with nervousness.
“Isn’t that the sorcerer?”
“What is he doing here?”
“He has a pouch of coins”
“It has the Royal crest, do you think he stole it?”
“Stop talking! He can probably hear us!!”
“Filthy sorcerer”
Roman clenched his fists, was this going to be his life now?
“Someone should say something to him,”
“I’ll go get the guards,”
“Do you think he escaped?”
“Maybe he mind controlled the prince into letting him out,”
“What is he doing here?”
“He must be up to something bad,”
“He looks angry, be careful everyone,”
Roman stood, he clenched the basket tightly and ran a hand through his hair. He quickly went off to a more quiet street. He just wanted to feel normal. All throughout the streets and the castle he always got weird looks, Patton and Virgil were the only ones who treated him normally. Even Virgil seemed tense around him sometimes.
He wished he could just reset time back to before he was convicted of magic. One dumb mistake and he ruined his life forever.
Roman sat down on the ground and leaned his head against one of the buildings. He was holding back tears. Logan was eventually going to fire him, then he’d be kicked out of the castle with nowhere to go and no one to protect him. People would realize he’s defenseless and probably drive him out of the kingdom.
Roman closed his eyes, placing an arm over his forehead.
“Roman? There you are! I told you to wait by the fountain, what are you doing here??” Logan asked with a huff.
Roman jumped. “I’m sorry, sire, I was making a lot of people upset just by sitting by the fountain, so I wanted to be somewhere less crowded,” he looked to the ground.
Logan didn’t speak for a minute. “It’s.. alright… uh… are you ok?”
“I’m fine. Let’s just get back to the castle,” Roman said, his monotone voice could challenge Logan’s.
Logan didn’t exactly know how to respond. “Let’s.” He watched as Roman got up and began towards the castle. Logan wanted to offer some comfort since Roman was clearly upset, but he didn’t know how.
He gave Roman the rest of the day off. Figuring they’d both be happier alone. Logan stayed in his study and read books until the sun set and the moon rose. He had missed dinner and was tempted to just skip it, but he knew skipping meals wasn’t good for the body so he got up and headed to the kitchen.
They were cleaning up everything from dinner. Logan requested a snack and they quickly went to work. He felt slightly bad for putting them to work so late at night, but he knew they were happy to work.
….or were they?
The woman from earlier said people only respected him because of his title, what if that were true?
Guilt swelled in his stomach, he didn’t mean to be full of himself. He always tried to be a fair ruler. But what if she was right?
“Uh.. don’t worry about making anything,” he told the cooks. “I don’t think I’m feeling very hungry. I’m just going to bed…”
“Are you sure my prince?” The head cook asked. “We are happy to prepare food for you!”
Logan forced a smile. “I’m sure, I’m quite tired, but thank you,” he quickly turned and went back to his room.
Maybe he could talk to Virgil about it tomorrow, but for now he needed sleep. He got changed and rested into bed. He quickly fell into a deep sleep.
-
Logan suddenly sat up in bed- or he tried to. But he realized he was drowning in the massive blankets. He struggled to get turned over, once he did he quickly propped himself up onto his hands and looked around.
Everything seemed so… big… The prince tried to call out for help, but all that came out was something that sounded strangely like a bark.
‘What on earth is happening..?’ He thought to himself. He looked down at his hands, only now realizing they weren’t hands at all. They were tiny clawed paws.
Logan scrambled backwards, falling off the bed and landing with a small whimper.
He noticed himself in a small hand mirror. He was a dragon, a tiny dark blue dragon. This must be a nightmare.
“Prince Logan? Are you alright in there? I heard something fall” it was Roman. He knocked loudly on the door.
Logan went to respond, but another bark came out.
“Uh… I’m… im going to come in ok? Don’t- don’t freak out sire”
