Had a good Sunday self-care day yesterday! Hiked roughly 6 miles with my dad and ended up at Hanson’s Point at the gorge then had pizza at Miguel’s. The perfect way to start my busy week 🌞

I’ve been thinking about hiking the Appalachian Trail for yearsssss. I’ve been held back by my own personal demons, fears, expectations, and “timing”. I just had a talk with my parents and they’ve known that it’s been on my mind, but never “serious”. Tonight, they pretty much told me that they 100% support my decision (and would watch my dog??) and strongly suggest that I follow through with my dreams. I graduate this November and have plenty of time to train, spend money, gather gear, and just prepare for this experience.
I....have so many emotions. I know the Universe is telling me to do this, but I’m so scared?? But also...so excited....if anyone has hiked the AT, please flood my DM’s!! I need advice and encouragement!!
Today I was approved for my senior field practicum placement with an elementary school social worker. I am SO excited about this opportunity. I will be able to learn how our social workers adapt to the pandemic and work hard to provide resources to students in need.
I have been feeling a lot of the weight of the world recently. I’m eager to channel that energy into positive change. I feel so much transformation in the upcoming months :)
One of the best outdoor adventures I’ve had: kayaking in a cave/mine!
10/10 would recommend! There were so many cool rock formations, the water was completely clear, and it was about 45 degrees underground.
I went with my dad and we had so much fun! Of course, we got Miguel’s pizza while we were in the area lol.
Little update! I ended the semester with a 4.0 and have slowly started getting out of my apartment to social distance. I’ve been to flower shops, drive thru coffee shops, and I finally got the courage to get takeout. My favorite pizza place (Miguel’s at the gorge) reopened a couple days ago and I made the drive to get a few slices.
My dad purchased both me and himself new backpacking tents yesterday! Huck and I are testing ours out tonight in the apartment 😂 We’re definitely ready for the gorge to open back up.
This is my view today. My policy analysis paper is due at midnight and I’ve been having trouble finding the motivation to finish it. I’m so grateful to be at home and safe, but it’s been hard adjusting to this new “normal”. I hope everyone is healthy and safe...times are hard, but this is temporary. Sending love :)
I had an interview for a 120-hour practicum this morning and I got the spot! I was so excited that I bought myself some new mid-liners and a desk calendar lol
Yesterday I had lunch with a few members of my cohort and we found this cute little hole in the wall spot downtown. I love exploring this little town ❤️
