Ugh. No one will go swimming with me. I’ll just chalk it up as a lost cause.

I feel like there’s a good Jurassic Park pun in there somewhere, but I just don’t have it in me to think of one. However, if it wasn’t so cold outside, I would go swimming with you. Or splash around with you, since swimming could probably kill me.

“No,” Ari replied curtly, taking Asher’s hand and using the other male as leverage to pull himself to his feet. “I’ll make you lunch, however. You always complain complain complain about how food on campus is going to ruin your diet yet you never bother to let me feed you, when you know perfectly well my food is better than anything you’ll find here, stronzo.” 

Underneath all the cutthroat comments, Ari really was hinting at the bigger issue. He knew Asher knew this too. They’d developed an odd way of talking about issues, but not at the same time. He was chiding Asher about his poor choices, and not letting Ari take care of him. That poor child only deserved the best in the world, and it’s like he were willing to give it all away with two hands. 

Regardless of checking to make sure Asher was following behind him, Ari began walking back to his dorm, pulling his sunglasses from his pocket and putting them on, as if the sun were only there to make itself an annoyance. “You worry me, Asher.”

Tightening his grip on Ari’s hand, Asher guffawed and laughed. “No! Your cooking is worse than campus food! It’s so good I’ll end up ruining my diet even more!” he exclaimed, tackling Ari gently. “Ugh. But fine. I’ll let you cook for me. Just this once though, okay?” That was definitely a lie. Asher would be begging for Ari to cook him dinner now too.

Ari always looked out for Asher; made sure he was well-fed, clean, all those things. If anything, Ari was just as much Asher’s mother as he was a best friend, but Asher didn’t mind. Having been neglected most of his life, he enjoyed the attention Ari gave him, and in return, Asher gave Ari sunshine and warmth. 

Keeping pace with Ari, Asher just stared at him for a moment. “I know,” he said softly, sticking his hands deep in his pockets.

“I’m surprised really, I didn’t expect any names for that one at all from you Sunshine” Quinn said with a small inclination of his head “Not bad”

“I mean... Lane’s not that bad, and I don’t really know Charlotte that well. Reese is the only one I’m thinking of.”

“Top three huh? Charlotte Rhodes even though I adore her because she’s an idiot sometimes, that Lane kid I always see around who acts like a brat all the time and Reese for always being so reckless and just infuriating at times. You?”

“Charlotte. I’ve seen her around. Lane can be pretty meh. Umm... Reese, for... personal reasons. I can’t really think of anyone else.”

I don’t make everything a competition, at least. I usually I don’t even care, but against the right people… Yeah, I can be pretty competitive. I was athletic in high school so it just carried over, I guess. I play tennis and I’m on the hockey team, and I’ve got a horse down at the stables. I surf, but I don’t as much I used to when I was in L.A. ‘cause I’ve gotta drive down to Folly Beach.

Wow, that’s intense. I’m a business and psychology major, which occasionally makes me want to punch myself in the face.

Tennis I know. Hockey, not so much. Surfing is a yes. I surfed all the time in Miami. The waves aren’t as good here. 

Psych? Not too bad. There’s probably a lot of big word to know though, right?

Nah. I just love swimming. My friends and I used to play games to see who’d last longest in the pool in winter. Guess who always won!

It took Asher a moment to calm down a little, gripping the counter just a bit too tightly. Turning around, he gave Patrick a passionate kiss before running to turn the shower off. “Bed, bed, bed, bed,” Asher begged, dragging Pat out of the bathroom by his wrists, teeth tugging on his lover’s(?) bottom lip. This was all confusing--what they were to each other--but Asher wasn’t going to worry about that.

Asher was never really vocal in bed, or in this case, against the counter, but at the harder thrusts and the hand around him, he let out a choked moan, breathy. Swallowing thickly, he whined, "More." Though, he wasn't sure what that meant. More what? Harder? Faster? Deeper? No. Asher just wanted more of Pat.
