Tbh I don't understand anyone who denies their favorite character's flaws and acts like they've never done anything wrong when that is like consistently the most interesting part of any character ever

Just two nerds nerding out
I’m re reading Wuthering Heights & I’m so disappointed in the new movie adaptation whitewashing Heathcliff. One of the most impactful parts of his character is the fact he’s constantly discriminated against due to his skin, called a Gipsy, dirty looking, ect. & I know movies in the past have white washed him but none of them will have the impact or popularity that this one will & it just pisses me off to no end they took away that struggle for his character.
I forgot I had one more WH comic idea that I never drew so here that is. :-)
'He is a dark-skinned gypsy,' this is page five into Wuthering Heights where Heathcliff is physically described and I don't understand how they can cast a white actor to play him. All his pain and abuse come from his skin colour and foreign features, and they got A WHITE ACTOR TO PLAY HIM! The director is clearly an idiot who has never read the novel.
The tragedy is that Heathcliff could have been good; he could have been a good and a kind person, but if not for the cycle of abuse and violence that originated from others' racist ideals about his appearance, he had no choice but to become hateful and angry. The whole point is that none of this had to happen, which is the biggest tragedy in the novel. AND YOU GET A WHITE ACTOR TO PLAY HIM!
Happy Halloween!! 👻
