I'm obsessed with the many layers of this. Of course, a good book is always good. Bsd targets on an audience of readers way more than other series, so of course the audience knows and agrees with the sentiment. But also, the subtle yet constant meta commentary bsd creates around books and literature (characters being authors and authors being characters, Oda being a writer, The Book being able to manipulate reality just by writing on it, and so so much more). And yet there's even more to this line: the nod to manga readers watching the anime– “You already know how this story is going to end, but a good story is a good story, no matter how many times you read it, so watch this with us again”. The care that went into this first episode is just insane.
