May I please request a fic of Willy Wonka and baker fem!Reader falling in love after working together in her bakery?
This was requested by the amazing @groovyqueer! Thank you so much for the request, I love baking so I might’ve gone overboard with the details in part of it
“I need to make some cupcakes! They’re going to be chocolate. We need flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, eggs, sugar, brown sugar, vegetable oil, and vanilla!” You called out as you came into the front of your bakery.
“Umm….okay,” Willy nodded as he started to grab the ingredients and place them on the counter.
“You’re awesome, thanks for helping me,” you say as you adjust your apron tossing one over to Willy who quickly throws it on as well, “I’m going to mix the eggs, sugar, brown sugar, oil, and vanilla together, and you can mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in that large bowl.”
“I can do that!” Willy excitedly says, as he grabs a whisk and measuring cups out of the tin holder with the other utensils.
“-then we can combine the two bowls into the mixer.” You finish as both of you work on your share of the recipe, occasionally glancing over at Willy to make sure he’s doing alright. His specialty is chocolate, not baking after all.
What he didn’t notice is that you saw him reach over to grab a handful of flour before you turned around, “Willy Wonka, so help you if you throw that flour at me,” you said watching as disappointment dances across his features.
“Darn it, I thought I had you. How does this look though? It looks good to me.” Willy pointed out, carrying the bowl towards you.
“Well,” you start, not wanting to hurt his feelings he is trying to help you after all, “there shouldn’t be any eggshell in it.”
“Oh.” Willy muttered, disappointed, hoping that he had done a good job.
“Willy, you did great, I think I will be able to get the pieces out with a spoon, it happens all the time, especially when you’re first learning.” You told him, making sure he didn’t feel bad for his simple mistake.
“Y/n, what if I add-” he starts opening his traveling case of chocolate ingredients.
“No, this is my recipe for my shop, not something for us to just enjoy.” You explain as he snaps his case shut.
“Fine, there’s a reason why chocolate making is my favorite, you get to experiment whenever you want.” Willy groaned watching as you combined the now eggshell-less mixture in the mixing bowl with the dry ingredients.
You smile across the counter as Willy watches you intently, “we can experiment later, right now we have to make these for the display.”
You finish mixing all of the ingredients together and grab the cupcake tin out of the oven, “Willy please preheat the oven to 350°,” you instruct as you place all the cupcake liners in the tray.
“What if we put it on like 450°? Will that make them bake faster?” He optimistically asks, watching as your eyebrows raise at an alarming speed.
“Willy Wonka, step away from my oven,” you say semi-serious, semi-giggling as he raises his hands in defense and takes two comically large steps away from your oven.
“It was just a thought,” he shrugs as you pour the batter into the liners and place them in the oven, “frosting time?”
“Frosting time.” You confirm as you grab the butter, powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla, blushing under the chocolatier’s intense gaze.
“Is it too hot in here, your face is all red?” Willy asked you innocently, obviously not flustered himself as we walks closer towards you.
“I’m fine, I’m fine,” you reassure him, adding in a couple drops of pink food coloring so the buttercream looks prettier in your display.
“Oh, okay, you looked like a cherry.” He says as he continues to examine your face, delicately placing his hand on your jaw to make sure himself.
“I’m okay, Willy, I promise.” You pull away from his hand, afraid of what the close proximity will do to your mind, “will you grab the piping bags over there?”
He nods his head, walking over to grab a bag for you, his curls bouncing with every step you took, a sigh leaving your lips as you watch him do so.
Turning back around to your expressionhe shakes his head, “are you sure you’re alright-“
“Yup,” you snatch the bag out of his hand as you cut a hole in the corner, sliding a fancy tip into the bag for the frosting, just as the timer went off on the oven, “will you grab those? And, please, use oven mitts this time.”
“Yes, ma’am,” Willy salutes as he grabs the mitts off of the counter, poking the top with a toothpick first, “they’re done.”
“Perfect, they just need to cool, then we can frost them.” You point towards the bowl of frosting.
“You should taste it, the frosting I mean.” Willy tells you, pushing the bowl towards you. You seem to have made a worried look on your face as he continues, “I added strawberry flavor when you weren’t looking.”
Your mouth dropped, “Willy Wonka!”
“It needed something, it was good, but it seemed to be begging for a flavor.” He pleaded as you watched him lick his finger that he just dipped into the bowl.
“I- I can’t even be mad at you, go wash your hands though.” You pushed him towards the sink, tossing a clean towel next to him on the counter.
“I’m telling you, it tastes delicious,” he confirmed cheerfully, humming a little turn to himself.
“How much frosting have you eaten?” You facepalm preparing to put it in the piping bag.
“Enough to know it tastes delicious.” He said as he came up next to you.
“Well, no more, or you can’t eat anything when we close.” You tease as his face drops.
“Welll…..that’s no fun.” He frowns as you start to frost the top of the cupcakes one by one, putting some chocolate shavings on top of the light pink frosting, “these look tasty though,” trying to grab one from the rack.
You quickly grab it out of his hand before it can reach his mouth, “no way, Mr. Wonka, if you are going to taste test one we are going to be doing it together,” splitting the cupcake in half.
Both of you bite into the cupcake, frosting smearing on Willy’s nose, “now that tastes good.”
You smile as your started to bring the rack over to your display, “yes they do, and they will look perfect here in the case.” You place all of them where you want, and turn around to see Willy leaning against the opposite counter on his elbows, facing you. “You still have frosting on your nose.”
You go up to him and wipe your thumb over his nose to get the frosting, deciding to whip your thumb across the corners of his lips to get the crumbs that remain there too. Now it was his turn to blush *like a cherry*.
“Thanks,” he whispered as you licked the frosting off of your finger, “time to open?”
You smile as you turn your back to him, “untie my apron for me?”
“Sure,” Willy replied, his fingers making quick, but delicate, work of the bow you had tied prior to baking, “let’s sell some pastries!”
“You took the words out of my mouth,” you tell him as you watch him about to flip the sign from ‘closer’ to ‘open’. “Wait, Willy, I have something for you.”
“Yeah” he wonders curiously, watching as you step to the back room for about five seconds and come back with a box with purple ribbon tying it together, hand it to him.
He starts to unwrap it as he sees a little puffed pastry on the inside, in the shape of a heart, “I just appreciate you a lot, Willy, you always are so considerate to help me. I don’t want to ever lose you, but I just needed to tell you that I love you.m, and I have. I have for a while, I think.”
“Aw, y/n, thank you so much, I can’t believe it, but I love you too.” Willy says as he wraps you in a hug, “we can talk more about this later. For now, let’s open your store.”
And your bakery was filled with more love and even sweeter desserts if it was even possible.
