Nap Time's Over ~ (Open)
… Aaah, what had happened?
Scarlet eyes opening, all that could be seen was white. White, white… and more white. So much white that it was dark, really. Dark and… cold…
Did she fall asleep?
"…"
Her energy felt drained, and her body felt— just like her surroundings— cold. … Ah, that’s right, she had left home the other day. And why…?
Oh, right, she was hungry. She had left because she was hungry.
"… Nngh…"
A hang shot out from the snow, just then. A small, petite and pale hand with sharp scarlet nails adorning them. … She was covered in snow. And she seemingly had enough energy to move her body at least enough to wipe the snow off of her face. But even then… she felt drained.
Just how long had she been laying there? … She hadn’t really registered the fact that she had just died hours prior from the permafreeze. All that really came to mind was the insatiable cold engulfing her normally cold body, and the deep hunger that was causing even more pain.
… It really, really hurt. And thankfully, she wasn’t so unstable to where she would go insane from hunger.
At least, not yet.
"Hhh… eeelp…"
Her voice quietly emerged from the snow as she lay there, unable to move more than she had already— arm now lying besides her head, palm outstretched. … It was no good. She couldn’t muster any strength to get up.
… Idly, she hoped fate would be on her side and guide someone here.
She’d waited long enough back at the house, she’d found Sakuya and made sure she was safe, but something just kept this unsettled feeling around, and as much as she wanted to live in blissful ignorance; assume that the mistress would just return and sleep until she got back, she couldn’t. In any other situation, she trusted that Remilia would be able to take care of herself, but after what happened to Sakuya, Meiling was really worried.
“Where are you Lady Remilia…” She thought aloud to herself, mumbling quietly, but almost hoping that the vampire would somehow hear her. She still wasn’t thinking too clearly after dealing with the knowledge of Sakuya’s temporary passing, and was simply overcome with concern. She took a deep breath, forming a cloud of steam in front of her, as she tried to channel more chi and warm herself again. She had already heard about the copious amounts of looting and thievery going on in Sector oo5, and even had to deal with some robbers who saw the high snow levels as a good opportunity to get through their house’s window. She was really starting to hate this cold, even if it physically didn’t bother her to nearly as much of an extent as other people.
Trying her best to avoid conflicts with any monsters or other troublemakers, she found herself on a long, entirely deserted road, towering, ice-covered buildings either side. There were no signs of the mistress, finding a small girl in such a vast city was almost futile, she thought spotting people amongst all the white of the snow would be easy.
However, what she soon heard made the idea of actually looking for Remilia completely futile, she’d never have spotted that tiny, snow-covered hand or face, not to mention her pale skin didn’t make things any easier. That quiet voice, crying for help couldn’t have reached anyone who wasn’t just nearby. It was a miraculous stroke of luck that led the gatekeeper to this very position. Spotting the vampire gave Meiling a mix of overflowing relief and horror, how could she have gotten herself into such a state?
"M-Milady…? Lady Remilia!" She immediately dashed over to the pile of snow, burrowing her hands right into it, in attempt to grab the vampire’s small body and pull her right out. "I-I’m here milady, it’s me! I’m here…" She almost didn’t want to ask all the questions now fluttering about in her head.
Despite how dire the situation was, and the pain she was feeling, she felt very... relaxed, in a strange way. Cold, but relaxed. It was... well, it was terrible, sure, but...
Is this what it feels like to die, then come back to life oh-so-suddenly? ... It's not like she hadn't experienced death, once upon a time. To experience it again was rather surreal, however. ... Idly, she couldn't help but wonder about fate. What had caused such a miserable fate to befall her? ... Ah, well, maybe it was just that time of year. Things happened.
However, for once during this cold Winter, fate decided to take a spin onto the brighter side. Her eyes, now closed, felt the dark blanket of white uncover her face-- body lifting. She was... incredibly stiff. Was she really a vampire? Or was she some sort of strange Western jiang shi? ... Ah, no. That was the lack of blood. ... She was like some sort of life-size miniature doll, as she was now.
It's amazing she even got her arm to bend.
"... M... Meiwinghh... huh...?"
When it came down to it, she could barely even talk right. Good grief...
She really was a wreck. Her clothes, while not tattered, were relatively soaked from the ice, and her hat had fallen off somewhere else it seems, leaving but her messy blue hair. Truly a sight unbecoming for the tiny vampire.
"How'd... y'find me... Meiimeeiii..."
A yawn came from her lips, finishing off her words. And then, her stomach grumbled, and she grumbled in response to that pain.
