First service blue print

This was the first ever service blue print that I made with the help of Prof. Bau and my team mate Hina. It helped me look at the whole service of subway from a broader view point and helped me identify pain points that later helped us come up with design solutions.

Strategic group mapping.

This is one of my favorite tools to identify potential markets with a higher level analysis.

By identifying the right factors for comparing, we can easily identify markets that are already over flowing with competitors and identify markets with potential.

Final practice for napkin sketch. I practises it with another student but it was very different to pitch to a professor. I realised I was more nervous. Still... It was challenging and a good skill to learn.

The napkin pitch

For our final class my group has to pitch Social Dining in four different ways.

I find the napkin sketch to be very interesting and challenging. In 30 seconds one has to explain how the service works. I am particularly working on how I can do this upside down so the person facing me has a correct view of it. The biggest challenge is to tell a compelling story while also sketching it out... on a napkin.

Challenge accepted.

Group meeting at the park for a change in pace and setting.

We did a very crucial part of our assignment at the park while trying to come up with our blue ocean strategy. But I guess the park also inspired us to come up with a green ocean strategy (get it?)

Service prototype video

Here is a video of our service prototyping with real people where we tried to recreate the actual service to the best of our power.

We got some very useful insights from our participants which will help us and the service concept grow for sure.

Services that fascinate me.

In recent years, there have been many new services that have fascinated me. The first one is spotify. I like how they found a way of being something between a free radio like pandorra and a paid service like itunes and catered to the need of millions who were anyway very comfortable using cloud based products.

Hointer is the next one. Being a science fiction fan, this is the kind of service I would totally eat up. A retail service which does away with the need for humans in a retail environment. Last I heard, they were offering to set u their service for other retailers who are interested in their model. GAP even has a store now based on their model.

Which brings me to the last thing I want to talk about. Retail is dying. So what makes people go to a store when e-commerce has made life so easy. Its that special tangible experience thet you create. I read an interesting article on trends that are trying to make retial attractive again.

Got some excellent feedback from my class and Prof.Bau. Learned a lot about managing content on my posters and a little bit about visual design. Working on the final drafts of both posters now. Stay tuned.
