“sucking dick is a nice business. depends on how good you are and who’s dick you suck. and how many dicks you suck, really.” she shrugged, eyebrows raising. “might not get quite as much, but i’d get enough.”
“Dunno. I mean, if that’s your thing you might as well get paid for it.” Ash wasn’t too sure what to say, this wasn’t the run of the mill conversation you had with a stranger. “Enough’s all your really need anyways, isn’t it?”
“there’s always the chance to try.” she shrugged, moving towards the cupboard of liquor to refill her drink. “everyone, i’m not a fan of new people. they kinda suck. but i’ll do what’s needed to get around i guess.” she shrugged, deciding to bring the bottle with her.
Ash couldn’t help but let off a small, quiet laugh at her last statement. “You sound like me,” he said back, taking another sip of his drink. “New people suck big time. And then there’s the not new people here too and that... it all just kind of sucks.”
“you should seriously show me one of those places, either that or i’m just going to be wandering around the city and trying to avoid the cameras.” either way - that’s something she was planning on.
“I don’t know how well they get you away from cameras but... they get you away from people for the most part. Which is the goal. The less the better.” Ash wasn’t too keen on sharing all of the places he’d mapped out. He might not have anywhere private to go if he did and that idea by itself was unnerving to him. “--Who’re you avoiding?” he piped up, trying to maybe make some type of conversation.
“lucky..” according to her friends from back home she had the face of an angel - she hated it with a passion. “now that sounds like a dream, truly.”
Ash poured himself a small drink, taking sips of it to match. “There’s a few places around here I’ve already found that seem to be dead spots. Makes you basically invisible.”
“lucky, people don’t stop talking to me, apparently i’m approachable or something? i hate that…” she sighed - in amelia’s mind the less new people in her life the better it would be. “yeah, that cupboard over there is packed to the brim, i’m pretty sure there’s also a shit ton of wine somewhere too.”
“I don’t think anyone’s ever described me as approachable,” Ash said as he got up, going to pull a bottle and a glass from the cupboard before sitting back down, still keeping his distance from the girl. “the best thing I’ve found is just avoiding people.”
“ worst part of this is that my nana’s bible-blowin’ fuckin’ roman catholic. she’s gonna call me tonight like, salem casper how dare you perjure your soul in front of our good lord and shit. “ he imitated the older woman, rubbing his temples. “ i’ll never hear the end of it. two years from now she’ll still be SCANDALIZED, saying she didn’t raise no adulter and how divorce is a sin and shit. like it ain’t just paper. “
“Isn’t like... most things a sin according to the bible? So you might as well do what you want. I think there’s like a rule or something that if you say you’re sorry you and God are cool? I... I don’t really know. I’m not-- religious like at all.”
“well i doubt you’ve met my ex so…” she made a strained face, shooting the rest of the toxic liquid down her throat. “and that’s why i have friends, hopefully they stop me from fucking up.”
“I haven’t really met much of anyone. Too much going on here for me to actually like talk to people,” he shrugged. “I-- is there any more of that? A drink might be kinda nice right now.”
”like ¿en serio’migo? did we just get completely SCAMMED into marrying the last people on earth we’d ever want to?” the brunette’s usual purr as she spoke soon transformed into a defensive growl at the end of her speech, accompanied by a quick eye roll before she regained her composure. “whatever, i’m still in this for the money, a la mierda. y’know, i wonder if we’re allowed to pretend like we’re not married, if you know what i mean,” maya winked with a smirk, all while she felt so empty inside from the news.
Ash was about to speak up but there was a tone at hit his ears from the other that immediately pushed his words back. A spark of anxiety shot through him though, slowly, as she kept talking it dimmed. Ash nodded his head, not in agreement but in understanding, taking a few more seconds after that for him to actually speak. “I dunno if that’s really allowed. Might... be against the rules? I think? I don’t know.”
“Is it against the rules to hibernate for the next 9 months because I could definitely adapt to that.” Nina asked as she looked up from her phone as though she’d just made a breakthrough.
“I basically already do that so it wouldn’t be that hard to do. You just gotta get good at like... avoiding people and locking your door and sleeping... it’s easy.”
“i don’t think i’m going to be sober much for the next nine months…” amelia exhaled - swirling the tainted liquid that filled her glass. amelia had only signed up to the show for a break from school - but anything was better than the situation she was in.
“I think I’d rather be sober... makes less of a risk of me doing something stupid,” Ash mumbled, more to himself than her. He wasn’t good at speaking up to people he didn’t know but at least he was trying.
“i’m not too sure WHY i agreed to this whole thing.” she mumbles, her head shaking. “i could of stayed home and sucked dick and gotten just as much money. only thing getting me through is my sincere lack of sobriety.”
“I, uh, I don’t know if you’d really get quite as much money for sucking dick. I mean...” Ash furrowed his brow a little, pausing. “I guess it depends on who you’re going down on but like--” he cut himself off, shrugging instead. He was nervous and he knew he rambled when he was so stopping himself now was the best option.
Ash wasn’t much for hanging around other people and so far he’d done pretty good ducking out of rooms when he heard someone coming. He hadn’t gotten a feel for this place yet and he wanted to do that before being overwhelmed with a new load of people. Hoarding a few snacks under his arm he hauled himself back to his room and shut the door. Sitting on the bed, digging into a bag of chips, completely enthralled in his laptop he heard the door open. Instinctually his eyes glanced over to see who it was, his stomach knotting instantly, mouth gaping open slightly as he stared. His mind went completely blank but finally after at least a solid minute managed to blubber out a weak, “Hi--”
