My fam is viet and Buddhist and while my parents and cousins are ok with lgbtq, my aunts and uncles are conservative and some of them are rlly homophobic. My cousin told me she’s bi and her parents are rlly homophobic. She said she’ll never come out to them bc she’s scared and they’ll never accept her. They say that it’s wrong bc our religion so if u have any tips on how to change my aunts/uncles pls say!

first, it’s great that you have a relative you can speak with about this!! support always helps ♡ second, i don’t know about changing their opinions… religion is a rly sensitive thing and they may be set in their ways, but i know that people come around more with a greater understanding of “others”. love, whether between people of the opposite or same sex, is just wonderful & beautiful, plain & simple. if you’d be willing to engage them in a non-confrontational conversation about the topic, get to know their views and let them hear you out (or even come out to them and explain your experiences) it could help? whatever you’re comfortable with!! ♡ i’m sending emoji hearts to u and ur cousin ♡
