If he was to do this, he'd have to find a cleaner way next time. He then scolded himself. No, no next time. Well, he wasn't hungry anymore, not for now. And it was just some British soldier. One of many to die. Not like anyone would care.
“ I'm sorry this is how your life ended, ” he informed the dead body, as if it could hear him or something. He kicked the bloody thing into the nearby river. Future problem.
He looked into the night sky. So dark. So starry. So..... Beautiful. Yet, it was simply a lie. Every star out there was exploding or going to explode or has already exploded.
Everything beautiful in this world was a horrible, horrible deceit.
But he'd have to make the most of that.
He cleaned himself off—the best he could, anyways—and sat on his cot.
What had he come to? Cannibalism.
Blatant.
Cannibalism.
The river outside mocked him and informed him of how much of a monster he is.
He told it he was aware.

One sunny—too sunny, in his opinion—day, he was informed he had gotten mail. Letters. From who? Most were anonymous. Some signed. All had to be returned to the same message carrier.
“Curious,” he said aloud, “very curious.”

Many talked tales of his cannibalism.
He had no clue how they knew that. Or why they didn't report him to be hung.
Maybe that'd be for the best, hanging. He was killing people in such a...horrendous way. But he couldn't stop himself from another bite. And another. And another. He could barely remember when it started...
