Hello there, I’m Arthur Kirkland. I’m a merfolk so you say, I take after a Thornback Skate, or well Ray. As for why I’m here well let’s just say a bad accident with smugglers left me a little less capable on my own as much as I hate to admit... Feel free to ask me anything I’m looking for some entertainment.

Headcannons and Facts

Arthur doesn’t like to be touched without consent, he will easily lash out if he does not want to be touched. Arthur will avoid most if not all staff within the aquarium, it doesnt mean he dislikes them, he just doesnt like having to be checked over or pulled out of the tank. Following the previous he has extreme anxiety being handled with people, especially adults due to his past problems -Lets take a few moments to tell some interesting facts about his species while we are here- Skates and rays are actually related to sharks : D Rays and skate are different but look similar Skates do not have Stingers, but do have spikes Skates will mostly eat small fish and crustaceans Skates only head inland to warmer waters to breed Thornback rays can live 300M but most commonly are 10-60 Thornbacks are slowly joining the endangered list -returning to arthur- Arthurs torn fin was a result of being netted and struggling, sadly this happens far to often to sealife. Before arthur was in the aquarium he was heading inland in hopes of meeting another skate, while he did meet a few other skates never got the chance to settle with any. Arthur knows how to break open lobster/crab traps ; ) When upset he curls in on himself like a hedgehog His favorite food is actually a species of red teleost fish, though he will eat most things

Some headcannons

Despite being noticeably spiked Arthur is male, females of his species are known to have more noticeable spikes and have many more. He does not get along too well with smaller Mers, he will eat almost anything small enough to overpower. One of his favorite activities is digging, if he manages to get his hands on anything he isnt supposed to have you will often find it buried somewhere in his tank. If anything ever goes missing check him first Arthur loves teaching about his species if anyone will listen he will explain almost anything he knows about

“Oh well honestly I don’t know if closest is a good thing but I get along fairly well with Francis he’s one of the Trainers. I quite enjoy the things he brings into the aquarium.”

Did you ever had the chance to experience the ocean life before getting stolen by smugglers?

“Oh my yes! I rather enjoyed it you know, albeit for a short time...i spent most of my younger years inland so the transition to the ocean itself was awfully startling and to a tank well...it’s just what I know now.”

He sometimes enjoys being really showy especially with tourists and visitors. He shares stories and can even teach bits of information. He enjoys those moments.
