You know, Alfred. I feel bad for Arthur. You created him to be artificial intelligence with a heart and a soul that is capable of loving you as a person and yet you treat him as nothing more than another of your creations. How do you think it must feel for him to be given life and unable to live the life of a human with the only person he ever sees treating him so apathetically?

Not only is Alfred incredibly aware that Arthur is artificial and will ultimately outlive him even if he did have those feelings for Arthur, but he is in no way obligated to return Arthur’s feelings. Arthur’s just a bit of a hopeless romantic and watches too many romance shows.
