(( Hi there all!

It's been a long while, so I wanted to say hi and check in and kinda give an update on my end.

A bit sad under the cut, as a heads up. ))

(( So it's been a pretty long and rough little while. In the end, my pup passed away a little over a month ago now. Which, of course, hasn't been easy at all. She was almost 14, and she lived a full and wonderful life... Of course I feel it was too short.

I don’t think devastating is enough of a word to describe it, honestly.

I haven’t really worked on doodling since, honestly. Really it’s been a while since I’ve done any work on anything. With the state of the world, and a rough few months leading up to my dog’s passing, I haven’t had the energy to do anything.

I would like to change that though, so I do hope I can work back into this story. Coincidentally enough I paused in a great spot LOL. I think my goal will be to do small updates from time to time while I figure out my free time schedule. Maybe just sketches to start on my main blog. I’ll most likely have simpler posts here, maybe find a quick way to color like a color wash, and can get back into it all slowly. I’ll post more as time goes on and I eventually get into the swing of things again.

Either way, I hope the days have been kind to you all as always. ))

– Sometimes that's how it has to be, unfortunately. I think you made the right call to act when you did though, if that's any consolation.

– Sounds good. It doesn't look like anyone else is there, so you're clear to head home.

Java sat in the sand staring out at the waves, Boreal's sun hat in their hands. The sand castle that the two of them built together sat near by, which they glanced at occasionally. It really did turn out quite well, and if Boreal's reaction to it was as genuine as ... everything else about her was, then it really was quite a good one. Java felt proud of that.

A slight breeze blew along the beach.

It was quiet.

So quiet.

The only sound being made came from the ocean gently lapping up on the sand as it always did, day in and day out.

Is this all there was? No wonder she built sand castles to pass the time. But she was so ... together. She was still as chipper as ever it seemed, so quick. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. How long had she been here? Did she ever try to leave? Was she really waiting for her friend this whole time?

Java stared out at the ocean.

They had more questions than answers, even more so since they arrived in the forest. But ... It didn't seem like they'd get answers any time soon.

The two of them were visited by other Pokemon from time to time. It sounded like that was a common occurrence ... Did that help her? She never seemed surprised, even with Java's sudden appearance.

The ocean gently lapped on the shore.

Minutes passed by while clouds rolled by on the horizon, almost like a scripted afternoon shower. Here they were always so far away.

They noticed they were holding the sun hat tighter now without realizing it. With a sigh, they loosened their grip, but continued to hold it close.

It was so very quiet.

Please be okay.

Happy munday friends!

Currently working on the next post but wanted to say hi and share a doodle.

I wanted to try to see what Boreal might look like evolved! So... Luxray! I might try to do a full body pic at some point, but it was fun to imagine the shapes, fur patterns, and how it'd all go.

Now I just have to figure out how to put a hat on her when she has a fluffy mane like that...... the true challenge

(How Destino has changed. It’s absolutely wild. I felt they needed a new reference because I’ve got a slightly different style for how I’m drawing them. Again, the change that two years makes. It’s genuinely crazy. Do any of y’all have different references for how you used to draw your oc until now?)

(( 2017 vs 2023 ))

(( I wanted to go back and see and add to this because it's always fun seeing the differences through time! I've only ever done two refs for her... The first was back when I started her blog for the first time in 2017, and of course the second is her current one which I made when this blog got started! Really not much changed LOL. Style a little, which is a little simpler. Though the hat's included in the new one! She had her hat back in 2017 too, just wasn't on the ref art. ))

But I'm well enough now to be able to sit and draw again so hey hi! i couldn't talk for like four days rip I've been reading through updates between sleeping and downing tea and most likely back to updating here soon!! Happy (Almost?) New Years, my blog friends!

I'm sure it's the new year already for some of you depending on where you are in the world HEH

Wanted to say thank you for a fantastic year. It's been a weird one here, lots of stuff going on and ups and downs as usual, but posting here and checking out everyone's characters and stories has always been a highlight every day. I'm always excited to refresh my dash after a long day and see what new stuff is unfolding! Or shenanigans.

I'm hoping to be a little more frequent with posting and interacting as the new year goes on. It's been nice getting back into the swing of things and I do have a bit planned coming up! Soon even! Probably.

>BOREAL: Oh! Yeah pretty often. It’s fun!! I figure the beach is a popular spot to rest and relax so a bunch of people always stop by! Feels like there's always someone new and I've met so many others here it's great!!

>JAVA: Ah! Okay, that does make sense when you put it that way
