No, despite what the url may say, this is not an ask blog, this is purely a blog where I post my fics for this au! All art for the CV!ex au will go onto @fake-it-until-you-hermit. Thank you for your support!
The thickly accented voice boomed through the wet air, the particles flowing out of the purple portal seemingly froze at the sound of the voice. The heat of the other side could be felt through it, even from this far away.
As the rain drenched both of them, Xisuma stood before the one before the portal with a gleaming diamond sword, eyes focused on the figure before him. As Ex stopped and turned around, staring at the other with that cold red eye of his. He could feel the fear rush through him, but he stood his ground, as confident as he could.
“What are you going to do about it? Kill me?” He said, it felt like a taunt-- But there was no amount of emotion in his voice. The green-skinned body lied limply in the villain’s hold, Xisuma held onto his sword tightly. And suddenly, with a flash of lightning, he was up against a wall. His sword was now being used against him. Grabbed out of his hand who knows when. The harsh coldness of the sword pressed against his neck, cutting through his skin suit easily.
The admin struggled. Gasping for air. And gripped onto his attacker’s arm-- His counterpart was surprisingly fit. Much stronger than him anyway. He breathed in and tried to focus on the other. “Try being less pathetic and relying on your admin power so much.” Ex hissed through his helmet. His dull red eye stared into X’s purple ones without a hint of emotions.
Xisuma coughed, and attempted to form a sentence, “W-what are-- y-ou after?...” The purple-eyed one struggled out. He breathed in one more time. “Wh-what do yo-you gain from this?!” X yelled, with much more strength this time. Whinced as the blade pressed harder into his throat-- The silence between the rain was deafening. But suddenly, the hold was gone, the clattering of the sword against the stone ground broke the empty space like glass. And Ex backed away. “There is no point in killing you now.” X gasped and fell from his position, now suddenly able to breathe, blood was dripping from his wound, but it wasn’t deep. He stared up at Ex, that voice he just spoke with was… In some manner, even by the slightest bit, softer than before.
He saw it.
All those time ago--
“You were so much kinder before.” He whispered. Immediately, Ex froze in his path. And Xisuma continued on. “What happened to you? You were… You loved pranks, causing mischief. But never like this.”
“None of your business.” The coldness returned again.
“You were my brother. Ex.” Xisuma spoke softly, the sudden warmth clicked something inside of Ex-- It was new, but at the same time nostalgic-- It was almost as if something unlocked inside of him.
“I-it was a waste of time talking to you.” He stumbled over his words, and quickly exited through the portal, bringing the limp green body on the ground along with him.
And that was it.
Xisuma was left in the rain, and the world felt so much louder.
The man woke up quickly, startled. His eyes meeting the evil counterpart of the Xisuma he knew.
The man outside of the cell fumbled through a big chain of keys, before finally finding the correct one and unlocked the door.
“Come quickly.” Evil Xisuma spoke and opened the metal door.
“How do I know you won’t just kill me?” He asked warily.
Sighing, “Trust me, I have no reason to. If you want to return to your friends, this is the chance.” Ex said, his voice smooth. “Plus, now that you know everything, it’s not like you know me as a person who would do that under my own mind.”
“...Right.” The creeper man responded, as he walked down the ghostly, empty hallway, he looked outside of the fenced windows. They didn’t provide with much scenery, it was all just lava and netherrack. A ghast’s cry is heard in the distance, it was really the only noise Doc had heard over the past few weeks aside from the lava popping. How does Ex deal with this shit?
His brows furrowed, noticing the sudden absence of the people who he came with. ¨Where is… the rest of the NHO? Why is it just me?¨ He asked, finding that the rest of his crew nowhere to be seen.
“They moved on to other things, they aren’t going back to hermitcraft.” Ex simply said, without a hint of emotion, as if he has done it many times before. “It’s their decision, and I respect it, I wouldn’t want to be caught up in this whole inter-realm war if I was them. It’s rare for someone to want to go back even after listening to me.” The white-haired individual explained, his boots tapping the ground of the fortress, emitting an echoing sound. “Of course, I don’t have much of a choice. Hell, if my mom found out I was helping you guys escape? It would be all over for me.”
“And how do I know you are telling the truth and not just telling me a pity story so I can feel sorry for you?”
Ex lifted his helmet and tapped the right side of his face that was previously obscured by the helmet he wears. “This? Despite what Xisuma may have told you it being overexposure from killing pigmen or some other bullshit. Dear old mom gave it to me, I disobeyed one of her commands, and she let dozens of pigmen tear into me. It was quite a while ago, probably one of the only memories I have left.”
Doc took a closer look at the other’s face, and winced in the process, he had seen worst before, but this is definitely nearing that limit. His face was terribly scared, a deep shade of red replacing his original skin. His right eye was missing, and was replaced with a blaze eye replacement. “Yikes.”
“I know.” He chortled. The creeper recognized this as one of the traits that Ex had in common with his counterpart, the same short chuckle. “Though I can perfectly see through it, there is a reason I wear an eyepatch wherever I went in the Overworld, so I don’t look so hideous.”
The two men fell quiet, the rest of the walk within the fortress was wordless. There weren’t any words necessary to say, neither of them wants to be here. And the sooner that this is over with, the better.
“And here we are. You can return to your friends.” He sighed, and quickly continued. “.” He sighed in between. “This is the central nether portal, it should take you to wherever the hermits are now, they may have begun a new season without you. As long as Xisuma exists, this portal will take you directly to him.” Ex explained and stepped aside, motion Doc to walk into the portal. “Remember the deal.” He repeated the phrase that he had heard much too many times before and handed Doc a bag with all his belongings. “Be wary, remember that one day in here is a week in the Overworld, so they may ‘overreact’.”
The tall brunet walked into the portal and took the bag softly, and began to feel himself being transported back into the Overworld, he turned around to the supposedly Evil counterpart and looked at him.
“Hey, Ex?”
Ex looks startled, but not surprised. “Yes?”
“Do you really hate Xisuma?”
The other responded by first smiling sadly. “I can’t.” It was all he heard the white-haired figure said.
Doc suddenly spawned into the world.
He expected a Nether portal or something, but he just simply appeared.
He pulled up his communicator, it was the day where they move on to season 6, the exact time.
He could hear voices around the corner, he recognized this place-- It was a large cavern, with overgrown vines and carefully placed blocks, one by one.
The creeper man was just in time for world hopping, and god, he hasn’t heard these voices in days. But it felt like he hasn’t heard anyone else’s voice in ages.
Doc stepped into the light of the pathway, breaking a stick. The sudden new noise other from the chattering alerted the other hermits of a new presence. They all turned around, some starts to tear up, not expecting for him to return after his disappearance, and some others immediately embraced him in a deep hug. He hugged back softly, and a blur of voices asked him where he has been, and if he was okay or not. The brunet’s eyes met with a certain purple helmeted person, and his eyes were dead focused on him, unmoving, and spoke his message even without speaking a single word:
See me later.
The creeper’s eyes immediately narrowed, what happiness he had gained from this reunion was smothered. Ex’s “hatred” for X could have possibly rubbed off of him, but it just feels like neither side is telling the full story. Now that he had finally been made aware of it, there was always something of about how easily irritated Xisuma could become, and then immediately apologize after. Everyone had just gone along with it… Who knows, maybe the people from earlier seasons would know more…
“Zedaph, we have to do this. We may never get another chance!” Xisuma exclaimed, while Zed just laughed nervously, as he picked off some of the flowers that were on the ground. “X, I don’t think Rex is really that bad, I’m pretty sure nothing he did warrants him to be banished!” Zedaph points out. “Besides, he’s not that bad of a gu-”
“Listen to me, Zed. He’s probably tricking you. Just like how he has done to everyone else. He would trick you and bring you to his fortress.” X said, with a heavy yet threatening tone. “I know him. He has been taking people since season 1, and the things he does… is unfavorable.”
“And what exactly are those said things?” The other was getting curious, whatever it is, it can’t be that bad right? Zed shrugged, and continued to clean up the area around him for a future build.
The helmeted one walked up to him, and rested his hands on his shoulders. “Zed, I know you think you have become friends with Evil Xisuma. It’s inevitable that he’ll imprison you the moment he gets a chance to.”
“Imprisoned? What do you mean?”
“Do you remember the NHO?” Xisuma started. Zed replied with a quiet and uncertain nod. “He took them. He took them all. Doc barely escaped, he was badly damaged. We manage to get him back, but the rest? Who knows…”
“When Doc came back, he was a mess. I’ve never seen him so distressed. He was always calm, but had that spark to him. But that time? He was scared, the fear in his voice.”
“He begged me to get them back, but that I couldn’t do without risking my own ability to even get back. I may have the server console in my power, but there is somethings I could not do.” X stopped to take a short breath, and continued. “Sometimes, you can still see it in Doc, the twitchyness, the jumpiness, and the general hostility and regret when you bring up the NHO.”
“That begs the question though, of what exactly did my brother do to my friends? And so I tried to get it out of Doc, but all he said was ‘I don’t want to talk about it, give me time.’. And you can only assume the worst of what might have happened. I don’t want to take that chance, not now, not ever. It is my responsibility as Server admin to do so.” He finished.
And then it was silence.
Zedaph saw his own hand moved towards his forehead, and then moved backwards to lean on a fence pole that he had put down.
“Do you understand the situation now?” X said. “You have been the only one that has been this close to Ex without disappearing without a trace. I felt that it is appropriate
to take action now before it’s too late.”
“Or else… Do you want a repeat of what happened to the NHO?”
Description: Evil Xisuma now have to sleep with one eye open, he dared to put this much trust into someone.
It was a stormy day.
For once, Evil Xisuma wasn’t really thinking of bothering anyone today. Maybe only a few kills here and there just to pretend he actually gave a shit. Who knows.
He reached the location of one of Zed’s pyramid base. Ex normally would have not come on a hermit’s request, but it was his closest and perhaps the only friend, even by just the little amount that he trusts him. The villain entered the triangular building and peeked down the large cacti and sugar cane from that his friend is starting to build.
“Rex? Is that you?” A familiar voice called out to him, it came from the bottom of the pyramid.
He rarely spoke, there was never any reason to when words did flow out, his voice was raspy for the lack of usage of his vocal cords, and this time was no different. “Yea, it’s me,” Ex replied, patting off some of the sand that ended up on his suit. Zed had started to call him Rex for some bizarre reason, not that he minded it. It felt nice to not be called evil for once.
He took the bubble elevator down to the bottom of the pyramid, it’s yellow sandstone glistening and cracked under the hot sun. If he was anyone else he would probably be sweating like a dog.
When he had approached the bottom, there was a door, he had thought nothing of it; Zed was the one person he trusted, and he should believe that he wouldn’t play any tricks on him! Right?
Ex opened the iron door with the press of a button on the side, and the door clicked open, hitting the ice that was on the side harshly. The white-haired individual walked into the room, it was simply decorated, with two wooden chairs. And a white bed, probably Zed’s personal workspace.
“Eh, sorry, I’m still in the process of moving everything, moving can be quite messy y’know?” Zedaph spoke, closing one shulker box to only open another, while Ex made himself comfortable and sat onto one of the wooden chairs.
“So, what did you call me here for? You don’t normally talk to me unless we just so happen to see each other.” He heard himself say, before his friend turned around, with an uncertain look on his face, almost a look of regret. He raised an eyebrow in response.
“Well…” Zed started, and his hand moved behind the chest, and the sound of a button activated something.
This was definitely not going to end well.
The floor underneath them both disappeared, dropping him into an obsidian walled jail cell with only two iron bars as openings, while Zed dropped safely into a small water hole. Ex recovered from the sudden shock of moving so fast, he glanced around.
He could not focus on anything other than the man in the green suit, nearly identical to his. A low growl emitted from his mouth.
The evil counterpart launched himself at the iron bars, gripping onto it so hard that his knuckles turned white, a loud bang, shattering noise escaped from the bars. Zed visibly jumped back into the wall in surprise and in fear and turned away as he was too scared to hold eye contact.
“Y. O. U.” Evil Xisuma barely spoke that one word out, he was fuming, his fangs bearing. While his counterpart did not respond, his eyes did not change, and his helmet covered his face. His own helmet he had left behind in his base, seeing that he probably did not need it.
“How. Dare you? How dare you take away-” Ex began.
“I told him everything, Evil Xisuma.” Xisuma interpreted him. “Don’t think you can fool Zedaph long under my watch.” He spoke calmly.
Evil Xisuma’s face twisted into one of hopelessness; then despair; and then quickly back into fury. He turned his sharp glare towards Zedaph on the other side of the room, who at this point was just trying to pretend he wasn’t here by shutting his eyes tightly.
“Did you believe him? Did you really think this is the right thing to do? HUH?! HUH?!!” He yowled, banging against the iron bars. “I thought we could be friends, Zed. I really thought we could.” Ex hissed. “Turns out you are nothing, but a damned, dirty liar.” Tears were threatening to spill out.
Zedaph looked at him from the sudden mention of his name in shock but then turned away quickly again. “I’m sorry.” He whispered.
“Enough of needlessly harassing people, Evil Xisuma.” Xisuma looked through the bars, “You’ve been torturing us long enough.” As he finished that sentence, Ex was suddenly pulled towards the ground by a splash of two potions behind him. Probably potions of weakness and slowness. Huh. Not too bad,
He struggled to stand up, groaning as he collapsed on the floor like a weakened animal, clawing and scratching at the ground with his fingers. The green armored one walked into the jail cell, with Zed following behind him. And motioned something. It was hard to listen when you are forced to the ground by weakness.
He felt arms hold him up and begin to drag him out from the cell, it was quite a struggle, and he would have laughed too if it wasn’t for that fact that this situation was nothing but tragic; betrayed by his only friend, and lead by that said friend to an unknown fate, probably banishment.
The thought of banishment shook him.
He had thought of it, and X had ever only used it as a threat, but this time? It’s going to happen.
And he won’t be able to do anything to stop it.
The weakness was getting to him.
Ex drifted into sleep.
He woke up, and found himself tied to a bed in an empty room that he had somehow ended up, with only Xisuma here now, Zed disappeared to nowhere. That’s good. He did not felt like look at that face right now.
The room itself was nothing spectacular, it was white, presumably, obsidian covered in white maps.
“I guess you finally win. Xisuma. You get to play with all your little puppets.” The white-haired man spoke, full of sarcasm and apathy. “I hope you have fun with your little game.”
“You are the only one who thinks it’s a game, dear brother.” Xisuma hissed, the first trace of emotion he showed through this whole process. “You have tortured them! You held them in your cells, and then what? You killed them over and over again!”
Evil Xisuma turned his head to the other side of the white room, looking away from Xisuma this time, trying to reach for a knife that he hid within his armor. “We both know that you’ve just brainwashed them. There is nothing good about you!” Ex snickered. And even without looking at his counterpart, he could tell that Xisuma was more than just frustrated.
“Talk what you will now, you’ll not be able to talk to anyone again after this,” X said, continue to type in commands into the console.
Ex tapped the knife against the metal bed he was laying out, making sure he was looking. He gripped the knife and passed it over to his other hand.
This was going to be some serious bullshit he’ll be pulling if he actually hit his target.
And it’ll be worth it.
He flung the knife towards Xisuma, originally aiming for the arms, but it ended up only stabbing him in the side of his left leg. X yelled in pain, and he was forced to step away from the console in the wall.
Ex could feel the effect of the weakness and slowness potion wearing out, he was regaining his strength. He tore the poorly done restraints on the bed, it was clearly not made for him at his top functionality. And began to run towards the opened door.
Suddenly, someone appeared from the doorway and tackled him.
It was Zedaph.
“YOU BITCH!” Ex screamed as he pushed his former friend to the side. And clenched him by the brown shirt that he had always wore. “I’ll make sure you regret forever betraying me.” He hissed lowly and began to engage in a full on a fist fight with one of the team ZIT members. Zed was clearly not giving up either, fighting back just equally as hard, but not as strong as the evil-doer.
“Rex, I’m sorry but you have to understand! I have to do what’s best for everyone! My friends!” The blonde tried to reason, as he manages to push Ex off for a single second. But was only thrown against the wall immediately.
“DON’T. CALL. ME. THAT.” He pushed out, the whirlpool of negative emotions are blurring his trains of thoughts. “There is nothing to understand. You betrayed me.” Evil Xisuma repeated again, and headed his clenched fist straight for Zed’s head, he braced for impact…
But nothing came.
And then, a sharp, ear piercing screaming. Along with a clank of an ax.
Zed forced his eyes open, all that greeted him was a splash of red absolutely everywhere.
The red-armored man was screaming at the top of his lungs, holding where his right arm used to be in pain, blood and tears mixed together on his face. His gleaming red eye were darting all over the place, unable to focus. Xisuma quickly rushed Zedaph out from the room, snapping the frozen man out from his daze.
Everything happened so quickly.
Ex was left in the room alone, now laying on the cold, white, unforgiving floor. Blood spilling out from where his arm used to fill. His breathing has begun to slow down, taking heavy, slow breaths.
This is it.
This is the end.
He won’t respawn; that’s how it's supposed to be.
He never meant to be here. He was an error from Xisuma respawning.
Out of his blurring vision. He saw a glimpse of a purple portal.
And out came two wither skeletons, along with a wither.
They carried him into the portal.
Back home.
To where he belongs.
Where he’ll be safe.
From betrayal.
From Harm.
From everything.
And that was how it was for a while. Evil Xisuma completely stopped appearing in the hermitcraft world and stayed in his fortress in the nether for nearly 4 months. Recovering from the trauma, he was saved from the brink of death thanks to the couple of healing and recovery potions he had saved up. But nothing was going to save his mental state.
One of the withers came back one day with a robotic prosthetic and gave it to him, he recognized which wither it was; It was the first one he had to summon. He knew the wither only meant good, but seeing the robotic arm only made him even more depressed and reminded him that his arm is never coming back. That a part of him is completely gone.
He hated this.
Nothing ever goes his way.
Everything always gets ruined by that. Damned. Xisuma.
Description: Something went wrong. Bitterness is his only friend.
Long, hollow echos bounce off of the dark red hallways. The nether brick was held firmly together, keeping the ghasts outside, where they won’t be able to touch the residents inside.
A light noise was emitted from the chess piece as it touched the board.
And the noise was followed by another.
And another.
The evil counterpart has been going at it for a few hours now, just playing against himself.
He breathed through his helmet, despite it being his base, this is after all the Nether, and breathing down here isn’t exactly the easiest thing. In a lava lake and all.
The walls of the room are made completely from red stain glass, it gave him a sense of openness, it certainly did made him forget about the part that he trapped here for eternity.
By that goddamn so-called good version of him.
The thought of Xisuma crossed his mind, and he slammed a fist on the table out of anger. A low, mixture of a growl and a hiss escaped from Evil Xisuma’s mouth, the resulting noise of the shaken table echoed down the empty chambers of his fortress. The two wither skeleton guards peeked into the room, curious, and then whispered something to each other. “Probably something with Xisuma again.” One of them quietly spoke.
Unfortunately for them. Evil Xisuma heard that.
He slammed one of the buttons that he had hooked up, as the floor right outside of his office disappeared, throwing the poor pair into the unforgiving lava lake below.
Ex stood up from the chair that he rested on, and pushed the chess table out of the way, almost knocking it over in the process.
It was no fun, all of the hermits he had trapped under here were all broken out by that little fucker. Killing mobs did not satisfy him; they didn’t cry, they didn’t scream in the exact way he wanted them to, they didn’t yell out for help when he twisted his sword inside of their bodies. They didn’t hold their throat as they ate a poisoned cake and suffered. They didn’t slowly burn to death while screaming. They didn’t yell and kick in pain when a potion of poison and weakness were thrown at them. They would just die, and simply another would replace it! They don’t respawn, they don’t come back with the memory of death to torture and haunt them. It was simply too streamline. He wants a spark of chance in there. An uncertain factor.
As the helmeted man walked, chains clanked together behind him. How funny it is for him to be trapped within his own fortress; that he had built himself to trap people in! He laughed dryly, and reset the floor, shifting the hallway in front of his room back to its usual form.
He threw himself in front of all of his monitors; the ones that he had set up to stalk the hermits, to make sure they aren’t getting pulled deeper into his counterpart’s lies. He flipped the switches on one by one, clicking a few keys here and there, checking up on the system.
This set of monitors had been a gift from Mother; Oh, the great powerful Nether, whom she had gifted him with all her generosity.
Al, better known as @fake-it-until-you-hermit here, is the creator of this sideblog! This sideblog will be a storage for all Competent Villain Ex writings/fics. All art will still be on my hermitcraft blog, don’t worry! But it might be just easier for yall to read this AU at one place, instead of scrolling through google docs!
FYI, this is not an ask blog despite what the url may say! Sorry if I disappointed anyone :[
I’ll be queuing the few chapters that has already been uploaded every other day until I’ve uploaded all of them! And from then on, I’ll be uploading chapters in real time! I personally don’t like using queue, so this will probably be the only time I’ll be using it.
Just a heads up, the formats of each chapter’s beginning will go like this!:
[Title] (might be different from the original)
[Chapter Number] (most after a letter followed by a number)
[Word count]
[Small description]
As always, thank you for all of y’all’s support over on my hermitcraft blog!! I sincerely hope that you really did enjoy this AU, as that this is the first time I’ve been working on an AU like this alone.
This will be the first, and probably the final ooc post from this blog. Enjoy the fics guys!
