Hello, doctor. Do you have any opinions on the origins of the Dynamax/Gigantamax phenomenon in Galar, and the extents to which it might be pushed in maximizing the power of it? What about in terms of economic or industrial gain rather than competitive battling or entertainment? *Could* it even be used for anything other than that (aside from warmongering or something, which is sort of a pathetic route to go down if you ask me.)
Dynamax energy is, for my less educated readers, any one of a number of phenomena that result in the temporary empowerment of Pokemon, usually but not exclusively used as a mechanism for battling, to include Kalosian "Mega" evolution, Z-Energy found primarily within Alola, and of course Dynamax energy, derived from Star Pieces within the Galar region (I tend to avoid using the word 'Gigantamax' as it attempts to further distinguish the phenomenon in ways that are more related to the individual Pokemon than the energy itself, or class of Pokemon).
My first caveat is that Macro Cosmos, a Galarian corporation, holds worldwide patents on most applied research into Dynamax energy, so even professional access to research is limited to those on Macro Cosmos' payroll. However, I am in agreement with the scientific community in the hypothesis that Dynamax Energy is similar to Mega and Z-Energy in being the result of irradiated minerals associated with one or more Legendary Pokemon (this remains a hypothesis, as no published research has identified a known Pokemon to be the source of Dynamax-like radiation).
My second is that there is an unfortunate bias in research circles against the sort of questions you are asking. These forms of energy do raise questions about their more practical uses, but the specialists who control the direction of research are highly resistant to those who wish to more rigorously define the generation and application of these energies. As I previously indicated, Macro Cosmos holds a stranglehold on research into Dynamax, and other similar phenomenon are protected by almost ritualistic devotion to the idea that the energies necessitate or exist for use in battles.
(I will refrain from speculating unduly on the directions of Macro Cosmos' research into this subject, as their legal team is both vigorous and well-funded.)
I apologize for my inability to answer questions to the degree you seem to wish, but hope this has been illuminating in discussing the current state of research into Pokemon-related phenomena.
