Jamie hopped into her car at the end of the work day thinking of only person. She immediately pulled her phone out and texted Eliza.

Text: Hi! Just got off work, fancy meeting for a drink? Or dinner?

Eliza had been speaking with a coworker while she was gathering her stuff before clocking out. She was talking about Jamie, blushing when her friend began to tease her, especially when her phone chimed and the woman’s name lit up the screen. Eliza immediately jumped on her phone and shot back a quick text.

Text: Dinner sounds great, but how bout just takeout? You can come over (:

Jamie smiled down at her phone as she responded.

Text: Sounds great! I could use a night in with you! I’ll be there after I stop by my apartment.

Jamie headed home and changed clothes before hopping back into the car. After apologizing profusely, their relationship had strengthened considerably. Jamie had realized that holding back her problems from Eliza only made them grow. While things weren’t exactly the way they were before, they were getting there.

Eliza said goodbye to her coworker and packed up her things before getting into her car and driving home. She was excited to see Jamie, and she’d be lying if she claimed that she didn’t want to hang out with her again. They had been working hard to fix their relationship, starting off as friends and slowly building up to something more. Even though they were going slow, Eliza felt her love for the woman returning to how it was before.

Eliza knew that Jamie was honest in her promises, that she would do everything she could to make sure that Eliza trusted her again, but Eliza’s heart still ached from the memories. “Start slow. Let’s just be friends at the beginning,” she whispered, her hands moving to Jamie’s curls.

The woman looked up to meet the eyes of the woman that used to be her soulmate. They were full of sadness but hope. Jamie nodded slowly, “I can do that.” She pulled Eliza into her arms and wrapped her own around her. “I can do that.”
