Seeing black peopleās response to Kanye for a couple years now has sort of shocked me. I donāt understand how he can release a song titled āNi**a Heil Hitlerā or shirts with swastikas on them- and not only be accepted, but enjoyed and promoted. He sold out of those T shirts. Supported.
If Iām being completely honest, shit like this is sort of radicalizing me. Itās tough to read a lot of this on twitter every day. And I know thereās an algorithm promoting this shit, and fuck Elon. But I donāt think thatās entirely whatās happening here and you canāt blame it all on that.
I was just wondering if you have any thoughts about the dialogue. I donāt want to get hate messages from your broad follower base for asking, and I understand if you post and answer this, that I might. But I encourage you to.
Black people have a tendency to separate ourselves from larger American issues like we're somehow different.
"these are white problems. THEY have to deal with" etc etc
But black Americans are afflicted with the very same anti-intellectualism that has been fermenting in this country for decades. Critical thinking on any kind of large scale is in full decline. More and more we're finding that there is a complete inability to recall and contextualize history and events and how they impact what's happening now and in the future.
Humanity has just entered The Information Era, and as a collective, humans have not reckoned with or learn how to handle having access to the world's information responsibly. The world's information has not been cherished or handled the way it should be. It's still being manipulated and used for power and control. And one of the side effects of that is people are in a collective state of confusion. There is no commonly accepted version of what's true or what's real.
When you combine that with living in a late stage capitalistic society in decline, black americans have been conditioned to worship and respect money above all else because we were systematically denied access to it.
We revere black people with money and defer to them. We subconsciously look at people with money as smarter, more important, something to aspire to, and any attack on them is an attack on "us" and our advancement.
We're only talking about celebrity culture right now, but this problem is much bigger, more pervasive, and more threatening to everyone.
In short, niggas are dumb and I'm completely over it. I feel sorry for those of you who have small children. The world is going to get a lot worse before it gets any better.
