History: Mariette grew up in the United States in the city of New Orleans. She was very close with her father who had introduced music to her at a young age. Her parents, proud and delighted by her passion for song and music, did everything they could in order to encourage and enrich her life and talents. When her father fell ill, however, she and her mother put all music and joy on hold. As a young teen, she worked part time jobs to help pay for her father’s treatments and grew more and more estranged and distant from her work-consumed mother. Before starting her first year of high school, her father tragically passed away. Her mother, paranoid of losing her daughter somehow, pulled her out of normal school to protect her. By the time she was finally able to finish her first year, she was approached by a man who claimed to be her father’s old friend. He offered her a way to study music all she wanted in addition to giving her the freedom she desired away from home; a steady job, a place to stay, and a night school with other children her age to interact with. She spent her second year brushing up on her Japanese and discreetly saving money with her current part-time to fly out to Japan. Now enrolled in Ryoutei Academy, she finds herself wondering how she’s going to spend her newfound freedom.
