If you feel comfortable sharing, what are your dreams like?
I usually have themed dreams that tend to take similar paths, though sometimes the settings are different.
When I was a kid, I dreamed about tornadoes a lot
I’d always think I’d be safe if I ran from them! Outrunning tornadoes is not recommended by absolutely anyone, stay safe! These dreams weren’t scary, it was more like a thriller thing. The tornado never reached me, though it was always right behind me. These dreams were usually just long enough to allow me to get a good head start on fleeing and then would suddenly end.
I would also dream a lot about monsters
While the tornado dreams were harmless, the dreams with monsters were absolutely terrifying. I felt like I’d die if I made eye contact with them, like it would send a bolt of lightning into my very soul and rip it out. I did make eye contact with them twice, and the result was... very weird. It literally felt like I was being electrocuted and that my body was being thrown around. It was NOT NICE.
As I grew up, those dreams disappeared and were replaced by different ones. I miss the tornado dreams because they had a neat feel to them and for whatever weird reason were not nightmares. I do not miss the monsters.
So now I have nightmares about not being able to get help
I suddenly won’t be able to dial 911 in some horrible situation. The first time I had this dream, someone had been run over. I could think the numbers, but they’d “fall out” of my arm as they traveled down to my hand to be dialed, and I’d end up dialing other things like 914, 011, 922.
I have dyscalculia and this happens in the waking world fairly often. It’s incredibly frightening and I have had complete breakdowns over it. This is a very true fear.
On the regular dream circuit though, mostly I have dreams that drag on for so long that they begin to unravel in plot and merge with other things. The restaurant dream seems to be the most popular
I’ll go to a restaurant to get something to eat and make my order. Everything seems fine for a while, but it just takes so long to get the food! I sit there wondering why the wait time is so terrible. It takes so long that the plot of the dream begins to waver and fall apart. One time a television studio set up in one part of the restaurant and began filming a sitcom, and then there was a boxing ring behind me and people were fighting. And I was just sitting at the table exasperated, cause like why are you people doing this I’m just hungry.
I almost never get the food :( and if I do somehow get it, I never manage to pick out the right piece to eat.
