So⦠what do you say? Girlfriends? Partners? Whatever term you prefer to use? -š„
Girlfriend, partner, it doesnāt matter, Iām just happy to be yours, Sadie. And Iāll never screw this up again. -š”ļø
Itās mid-afternoon when SaLute arrive at the campground nestled in one of Heavenās designated Dark Sky Parks, the site of their anniversary trip this year. After a quick check-in at the front desk, theyāre assigned a yurt and given the keys.
They walk into the cute little hut where theyāll be staying for the next couple nights, and are immediately charmed. The circular room has a bohemian decor to it, and is cozy, really only big enough for a queen sized bed, two chairs and lamps, a small bathroom, and a dining table.
After settling in and enjoying the nice dinner they ordered from room service, Lute and Sadie head outside to set up their blanket and get comfy in preparation for some of the best stargazing that Heaven has to offer.
The sun goes down and the sky darkens, revealing a celestial display far beyond anything either of the girls have ever seen. The pure, natural beauty of the stars and nebulas almost brings tears to their eyes, and they snuggle close to each other while they take it all in.
For a while, SaLute have the spectacle all to themselves. Several comfortably quiet moments pass before other campers, couples and families alike, start to emerge from their yurts and tents to take in the show as well. Their oohs and ahhs fall quiet as faint background noise to Sadie and Lute; as far as theyāre concerned, itās just the two of them and the stars.
After some time, they head back into their yurt to get some sleep ahead of a day full of fun, vacation-like things to do. Just as Lute is finishing her nighttime routine, Sadie takes from her backpack a jewelry box with āHappy Anniversaryā printed on the top and presents it to her.
Lute merely stares at Sadie for a moment, her eyes wide and sparkling, her face warm and gold with blush, before opening the box. Inside is a silver necklace; a thin, tasteful chain with a sword-shaped charm worked right in.* Among the accessory, a note.
Thank you for making the past two years better than any I had ever lived on Earth. Iām so looking forward to spending forever with you!
Doing what the night sky couldnāt quite do, the gesture brings tears to Luteās eyes. She dabs them away, then thanks Sadie, pulling her into a deep hug and an even deeper kiss, the love she has for her evident in every touch.
The bed draws them in like a magnet. Cool, crisp, sheets and plush, comforting blankets await them, and after a little extracurricular activity, passionate and slow, they drift off to sleep holding each other tight.
Lute and Sadieās two years together have been full of love and healing for both of them, with feelings strong enough and devotion fiery enough to fuel their promise of eternity ahead.
