This is an au about three different pairs of siblings all living together in Gourmand’s colony tree. There’s Survivor and Monk, Gourmand’s kids who are actually doing pretty good, there’s Artificer and Hunter, the purposed trauma twins who don’t get along, and Inv and Saint, the runaway experiments.

I looked through some of my old asks but they’re like 90% joke asks and there’s hundreds so it’s kinda hard to find ones I want to answer, so I could probably use some new ones if there’s anything you guys are dying to know :)

To summarize, Hunter and Artificer are twins in this au. They grew up together working for their shitty Iterator dad NSH, were separated for a few years after Arti ran away, she had kids, lost them, killed a bunch of scavengers, Hunter got given the rot accidentally by NSH, and now they’re both ended up at the same colony as young adults under Gourmand’s care.

Arti bullied Hunter a lot when they were kids, he’s always been just a bit weaker and smaller than her and he can’t make bombs/exploding spears like she can, and those differences were a really big deal for them growing up. Arti wanted to prove to NSH that she was the better twin so he’d like her more, and she did that by constantly making fun of and beating up her brother. NSH encouraged the rivalry because it was making the twins stronger and more eager to try their hardest on missions to compete for his attention.

They don’t get along at all, they never have, they fight a lot and it’s overall just not a great situation. But they’re getting better!

Here’s younger Hunter and Arti from the recent comic! (Hunter’s face scar used to be worse and he had nerve damage in the eye, but Sig mostly fixed it) (Arti bullied him like crazy about his appearance when he had the nerve damage). You can see what they look like nowadays in the banner at the top of the ask blog :)

And yes Spears is in this au! They don’t live in the colony, they work for SRS, but SRS is actually a good iterator parent lol. Spears stops by the colony and stays for a week or two every so often, they have a fair bit of free time in their life. They aren’t open to asks at the moment though, sorry!

wait why did Hunter start crying? That seems so ooc for him to me

First of all yes, Hunter is a very repressed character in this au, but that doesn’t mean he should never get to cry or open up for the sake of keeping his character stagnent. He’s getting better, he’s changing, that’s kind of the whole point lol.

As for why he cried, Monk basically said “man you’re so lucky, I wish I was you, I hate being protected and cared for and loved all the time” to a guy who did not get protected or cared for or loved at all until he was like 20 lol. His dad didn’t protect him from his sister, his sister didn’t protect him from his dad, and asides from a few outlier moments (like when Arti tried to help him and dragged him home after he got the scar over his eye), he’s always been on his own in a very hostile world, watching his own back. No wonder his back is so fucked-up and scarred nowadays lol.

Hearing her say those things about wishing she was like him and didn’t need to rely on other people just hit him in some old “man I sure wish I had people to rely on” feelings that he wasn’t prepared to feel, and he started crying without totally realizing why he was crying.

Monk is super sheltered, she’s spent her whole life being babied, so it’s natural that she wants adventure and freedom. She didn’t mean anything by it, she doesn’t know how bad Hunter’s life has been, she just sees that he’s big and strong and independent and that’s what she wants to be, minus the constant fighting with his sibling.

But yeah this panel is kind of funny to me. Like, Monk, girl, look at his back for two seconds and it’ll become very obvious what you have that he doesn’t 😭

can I receive an expansive explanation of who is crushing on whom in the colony tree. this is extremely important

There isn’t a ton of romance in siblings au, the focus is more on familial relationships and shipping gets complicated when a bunch of the characters are related lmao.

There aren’t any established couples at this time, as for crushes it’s kind of only Arti and Saint crushing on each other and Judge liking Hunter off the top of my head. And Arti and Hunter obviously have a lot to work through before they engage in any healthy romance. Sorry for the lack of extensive explanation lol.

This scene goes on for longer in the story, but I can only draw so much in one night lol. Context for the start is that Hunter was using his claws to draw on pieces of bark, and Monk wanted to try it as well. Unfortunately her claws are not nearly as sharp as Hunter’s and she can’t do it.

Thanks for asking, that’s very considerate of you! Backlog on this blog is just over 100, so obviously a lot better than last year when I had over 1000, but still not gonna happen lol. I only answer like, 5% of all the asks I get, but you guys are free to send me as many as you’d like, since I’m never going to catch up on asks anyways. My inbox is always open! Where IS the rest of the colony? Gourmand came from somewhere, or atleast, was trained to lead a colony from someone. Where is that someone? The rest of that colony?

Gourmand: This colony is where I come from! I was born to the previous leader, and it was my parents who trained me to one day take over the role. I’ve never lived anywhere else, although I am aware of a few other slugcat colonies elsewhere in this land, some of which I’ve visited before. All who I’ve met have been lovely people, and I with their colonies the best. And as for my parents’ whereabouts, I’m afraid they are no longer of this world.

Dude I got so scared that you quit!! For some reason my tumblr didn't show this blog or your main blog and when i clicked something that had your main blog like @/mentioned on it it said your blog was a ghost blog and I got so scared!!! I almost started crying cause I love this blog so much and I thought you deleted it and WAAAAAAHHH

aw, I’m sorry that scared you- it kinda scared me too ngl lol.

For anyone who hasn’t been watching my main recently, yesterday I got booted off Tumblr while making a post with no warning, and when I tried to log back in, I was met with this:

Tumblr had decided to delete my blog unfortunately, so my main and the ask blog were both gone for around 24 hours. However, somehow, despite all insistance by tumblr that deactivated blogs cannot be brought back, they restored mine! Yippee!

I realized a few hours after everyone else, there wasn’t like, an email from tumblr about it or anything, so I’m glad that other people decided to tell me that I had been brought back to life lol. Idk why it was deleted, or how it’s back, but all’s well that ends well ig lmao. (They also brought back the three other blogs I’d made to try and get back on tumblr with that also got nuked, so I’m not sure what to do about that lmao. I’ll have to delete them all I guess lol)

but yeah, sadly a few people did notice my disappearance, and that my blog had been deleted, and feared the worst. But I’m all good!

(It’s honestly been really touching to see how much people actually care about me lol. I didn’t realize how upset and worried people would get if I just vanished.)
