[Maruta] The southern mud Belle was by herself in the forest. Remembering how Bruno was surprised at her never having chanted in her life despite her plumage, she was doing it now while she thought no one was watching. She immediately stopped in shock and embarrassment when her eyes met Krimp.
Krimp was taking one last patrol through the forest, before it got too dark. Never knew when danger was around the corner. He stopped in his tracks when he heard some.. Chanting? If it was one of the villagers, he should probably tell them to get homeâŠ
Following the sounds of the chant, he stepped around a large tree to find a singular Mudokon, who then stared up at him. He stared back for a moment, before he gently cleared his throat. âUm.. sorry to interrupt - nice chant, by the way um - are you from the village?â
He tilted his head in confusion. âWait so.. Mudâs powers come from plumage? I thought that it was an âeveryone can do itâ kinda thing.â he stated, before seeing her face flush.
âOh, um⊠Well I mean, Iâm a slig and I donât hate Mudokons, so uhh. Iâm different as well? Uhh..â he tried to come up with something to cheer her up.
âAhâm not entirely shoâ how Muds do it, but plumage length is supposed ta represent spiritual powerâŠsomethinâ Ah dun have. All Ah know is that one day Ah jusâ woke up like this.â She sighed as she told her half-truth. She did not want to ruin her friendship with Krimp by admitting she was born an Outlaw that, thanks to some freaky Vykker science, was now in a Mudâs body.
"Well don't feel too bad about it, yeah? I learned to never judge a book by its cover. Just cause you have longer plumage, don't mean you gotta have all that spiritual stuff." he explained. "Ain't nothing wrong with a bit of difference."

[Nevermoe] A purple Glukkon wearing tribal attire was at the edge of the village next to a small hut. He appeared to be working on a garden that looked to be quickly becoming a lush fruitful success.
The slig was taking a stroll around parts of the village he hasnât visited yet - cause this place was expanding exponentially - and he stopped in his tracks when he saw a Glukkon. Here? In the village? After his time in the industrialist workforce, he was ready to kill any Gluk he saw.. But, if the Mudokons knew he was here, and werenât freaking out about it.. Approaching the Glukkon, he cleared his throat, a little tense. â..Uhh, excuse me? I donât think weâve met.â
So they hadn't been here that long.. No wonder Krimp hadn't noticed them sooner. He was still on guard, but listening to him talk about gardening and his plants.. It put him at ease. He hadn't met a Gluk that had such a positive atmosphere.
Raising a brow, he brought a hand up to his chin. "They tell you what they want? What kinda plants are they? I don't think I've ever heard of talking plants."
[Ask Bob and Zach] Young Zach is walking around when he spots Krimp. He looks up at him in curiosity. He had never seen a Slig that big before, and without face tendrils no less.
The big bro looks down at the small Mudokon, just staring back. A staring competition maybe?
Krimp hummed in thought, before snapping his fingers in conclusion. âWhat if you had a âbodyguardâ while you went out?â he suggested, trying to help the kid out.
Zach put his hand under his chin in thought before replying. âHe might like that.â
The slig smiled and put his mask back on, happy at the thought of helping this kid out. âIâd be yer bodyguard if he let me. Itâs in my line of work, hehe.â
âReally?â Zach grinned before hugging Krimp. If he could talk, the child Mud would be continually thanking Krimp.
Krimp was a little taken aback by the sudden affection, but he laughed a little and hugged the kid back. âReally really, kid.â
Zach then let go and replied, âI need to tell this to Bob now. Itâs been a long time since Iâve been in the forest. Thereâs a lot of stuff to find.â
The giant nodded and stood back up, putting his hands on his hips. "Come find me afterwards yeah? Let me know if we'll be doing any scavenger hunting!"

âI feel like I would have a fighting chance out there, if I ever had the opportunity to!â he laughed a little, smiling under his mask.
âMaruta.. Is there anything I should add to your name, like sugar? Maruta.. Maruta-honey?â he attempted to mirror.
âAh definitely c'n see that, Sugah,â Maruta nodded, motioning to Krimpâs muscular figure.
Maruta giggled slightly at Krimpâs attempts to copy her.
âSugah-Mar will do, Sugah,â she smiled.
"Sugar-Mar.." he copied, nodding a little to himself. It would take some getting used to, but he could get the hang of it with time.
"Alright! Uhh, oh right, did you want me to go? I didn't mean to interrupt your chant." he suggested, a bit more at ease knowing that she can fend for herself.

âHmm? Oh hello,â The Glukkon greeted warmly, âIâm Nevermoe.â He was used to having others in the village not really like him and it was hard to get out of the house during the day because the sun is a burning sphere of pain.
There was a flash of genuine concern in his eyes when he saw the slig. Something really bad must have happened to not have his face tendrils. It seemed rather rude to ask just out of the gate like that. After all, he knew people like Meko would give people shit for asking about his cane or at least have a sassy jokey retort rather than a serious honest answer.
âWhatâs your name?â
Well.. The Gluk at least knew how to be polite, which is more that any other Gluk had done. Looking him up and down, he relaxed a little bit. "Hey, uh... Nice.. to meet you Nevermoe. I'm called Krimp." he stated bluntly, trying to not sound harsh. It would take some getting used to, seeing a friendly Gluk..
"You have a.. Nice garden. You been here long?"

Still blushing furiously from embarrassment, Maruta let off a sigh of relief that it was just one of the guards.
âErâŠyeah, Ah ahm from the village, Sugah-Slig,â the south-eastern-accented Mudokon replied.
âS..Sugar slig..?â he repeated in a confused tone, rubbing the back of his neck. âUm.. I just wanted to let you know that itâs getting dark out soon, so you should probably head back.â he explained, stepping out from behind the tree. âDidnât mean to startle you or anything, ehe..â he chuckled nervously.
âYeahâŠâ Maruta explained awkwardly. âThatâs how Ah was taught ta address males.â When told it was getting dark, she replied, âThanks fer beinâ concerned, Sugah. But Ahâm from the Wild West, so Ah c'n take care of mahself.â
âI donât think Iâve been out to the West. If it has more people like you, then Iâm sure itâd be nice!â he attempted to converse. âWhat kinda creatures out there that make a lady like you so tough?â he inquired curiously.
Nonchalantly, Maruta replied, âOh, nothinâ much, Sugah. Jusâ racist, cowardly Clakkerz tryinâ ta cheat non-Khanzhumerz, Wolvarkz armed to the teeth ta shoot ya if yer caught trespassinâ, greedy anâ bloodthirsty Outlaws who may ambush ya, feral Slegs thatâll tear the flesh of yer bones; anâ dangerous wildlife such as Boombats, Stunkz, anâ Fuzzles ta name a few.â
Krimp tried to keep up with all the names, not recognising a few. There was only a few of the creatures that he even recognised. "Gee lady.. You really got it cut out for ya out there, huh?" he pointed out, giving a small chuckle. "I can see you'll be fine out here then.. The names Krimp by the way."

âThatâs entirely possible, but.. I was the enemy. Itâs a known fact that industrialists and natives were basically at war - so it was a big step on their part to reach out to me.â he fondly remembered their worried faces, for a slig like him.
Zach shrugged, not entirely knowing why they would do it due to his childish naivety.
âAnd youâve been a guard ever since?â He asked.
He nodded, grinning at the kid. âIn my mind, itâs the best way I can repay what they did for me. Protect them from those who might hurt them.â
âJust like the other guards,â Zach smiled up at Krig. âI wish I could do something like that for my dad since I probably wouldnât be here if he didnât adopt me.â
âLook kid, if I was given permission from your father, Iâd help give you training.. but then again, maybe wait until youâre a little older yeah? Enjoy your youth why you still have it!â he explained, smiling. âWhoâs your dad by the way?â
âHe wouldnât go for it,â Zach sighed. âHeâs overprotective of me. He flipped out when he found out I was exploring the forest by myself.â He then wrote, âHeâs Bob Hoke. Heâs the old Mud that runs Bobâs Tea & Sweets.â
"Bob's Tea & Sweets, huh? I'll have to pay it a visit sometime. I love sweet stuff!" he exclaimed. "I can understand him being overprotective though.. If you really wanted a bit more freedom though, you'd have to have a chat with him. I know what it's like to be held back from some stuff."
