To Ben Freeling, Have you trying showing your girlfriend Annabelle, the great gatsby novel or at least the 2013 movie of it? Cause, I think she would like the great gatsby since she’s from the 1920s.

The Great Gatsby? Uh... I've heard some of the songs from the Musical, but never read the book.

Gatsby? It sounds like a name of a boat.

It's a story set in Prohibition, I think. This guy named Jay Gatsby, he got rich by selling moonshine or something.

Prohibition, oh it was stupid! Just as we entered a new age, they ban the best thing we had back then! The clubs were nothing without it, just a little drink to get the folks tipsy and make the dancing more fun!

(To everyone except Abaddon) what was your reaction to finding out Abaddon is an actually demon?

I already knew. Nathan had explained Abaddon to me in a text, when I saw him post something with him on Instagram. Honestly, a Demon wasn't the weirdest thing, with what I already knew about the Hotel.

I also got warned! But I, uh... didn't really think they were being genuine until. That, night. But, I wasn't exactly scared. Sure, Abaddon, King of Shrimp, yada yada. But he was just, Abaddon, to me. Sure, he had the power to kill thousands with a single thought, and he made a lot of threats, but there was something about him. He didn't actually want to hurt me, a lot of the time anyways. Just wanted to cause mischief.

Stop yapping, Uncle Nathan! My turn.

I- y'know what, yeah, go ahead kiddo.

My reaction- I mean, I never thought anything was weird with Abaddon till mom told me. And when I first saw him curse someone. But he even offered to teach me his curses! It's how he and I became friends. I'd read him my spellbooks, because he can't read, and he'd show me spells he remembered from Hell.

Honestly? Abaddon isn't the worst thing in this Hotel. I was terrified when I found out, obviously. I mean, a demon, sharing a living space with me? But, you kind of get used to it? Like the ghosts.

I agree there. Abaddon can be helpful, every once in a while.

Katherine with a shotgun!

Steady hands, Katherine, she reminds herself. Steady hands.

When Katherine was thirteen, she'd watched her dad try to show a fifteen year old Nathan how to shoot a gun. He'd failed, miserably, shots going wide and entire body trembling with the force.

A year later, she'd asked her dad to teach her, too. He'd hesitated, but eventually given in to Katherine's begging, setting up cans in a row and a place for her to brace her gun. A shotgun, she'd chosen, instead of the revolver Nathan had used.

She pictures her father's hands on her shoulders as she fixes her gait, shifting from foot-to-foot and slipping into the right position. One hand on the grip, finger against the trigger, the other supporting the weight of the gun. Eyes staring down the barrel, lining up her shot.

Steady hands.

Her finger pulled the trigger.

The shotgun jolted back with the force of the shot, but Katherine's hands kept it braced so it didn't hit her in the face. There had been the loud sound of glass shattering, and Katherine turned her eyes to the glass bottle she'd destroyed, coloured shards decorating the table she'd put it on.

Katherine smiles, a small thing, self-prideful. She can see something in her periphery, and hears a whistle and a shout from a ghost with a wide-brimmed cowboy hat, and gives him an awkward, wordless nod.

She shifts her posture back into what it had been, and takes a deep breath, hearing her father's voice in her ears.

"Steady hands, Kathy. When you're holding a gun, you focus on nothing but your aim and your target." He'd told her.

It was good advice.

She didn't even realise when she'd pulled the trigger again, only registering the shattering of glass. Another good hit.

Maybe, just maybe, if she was good enough, she'd be able to keep her family safe.

Why all the ghost are obsessed with “always on-tvs” to the point where their eyes glow pale & speak in unison “always on-tvs”?

It's... I dunno, actually. I always labelled it as just, another ghost thing, like not being able to touch stuff.

A question for Katherine, have you ever had a family outing with everyone? (Sadly Nathan couldn’t go on one) and if so which one was your favorite?

A family outing? Like, with Abaddon? Uh...

We've had one. I think. It ended, pretty weirdly, but I guess it's my favourite since it's the only one we've had.

I took Ben and Esther up to to the town where Nathan and I grew up. It's this little thing on the outskirts of the city, Saintstown. It was where our parents grew up, and where we did. Abaddon tagged along on accident— he was in the boot of the car when we drove off.

It wasn't a bad day. The kids visited mom and dad— their grandma and granddad on my side. But then it ended like it always has, since Nathan died. Dad talking about how it was a sin for him to take his own life, and shaming him. Mom didn't say anything, as per-usual, but Esther got mad. And Abaddon... got madder.

Didn't end well.

But on the drive back home, Abaddon had his head out of the window. Then he leaned just a little too far out, and fell. Made the day a little better.

Course we do! There's spaghetti nights, which are a weekly thing, every Friday. We have movie nights sometimes, except every time I try and suggest we watch Con Air, Abaddon does that hissing thing. I miss that movie! Really need to see it again.

Yeah, we have family nights! Weekly spaghetti night, Saturday Showcase where I get to show off all of the artifacts I've found throughout the week, and mom always tries to get me and Ben to have more sibling bonding anyways, so. Yeah, a lot of 'em!

I have a simple question to ask, what is everyone’s favorite animal?

Snakes. I miss my snakes.

Oh! Oh! I love tarantulas! We had one as a class pet back at our old school, and she was called Gwen, like from that movie, and she always crawled on my hand during class!

Don't remind me... uh. I like dogs? Golden retrievers and German shepherds, maybe Huskies. I like the big fluffy ones. Dad always showed me photos of the dogs he had as a kid.

I really don't know. Me and Nathan had fish when we were kids, but mom was allergic to cats and dogs, so we didn't really own pets.

I mean, there was that sphinx kitten! I think I called her Wrinkles. Dad was so mad when he found out we'd snuck a cat into the house.

I told him to fuck off! Okay, no, look, in my defence, I was like... twelve or something. I'd only just learned curse words, and thought knowing them made me more mature.

You got stuck mowing the lawn for three months after, and still managed to make chaos. You got grounded, what, five different times? Across the months.

Is it just me, or do mom and Uncle Nathan seem closer since the whole demon possession night?

No, they definitely are. I guess finding out that you killed yourself and weren't told for years kinda makes you reliant?

I do wonder how Uncle Nathan didn't know. You'd think one of the ghosts would've told him? Or Abaddon? Actually- did Abaddon even know?

(For everyone) how do you feel/think about Abaddon

(And abaddon how do you feel/think about everyone else)

I love him! Is he a little rough around the edges? Yeah. Can he be a bit much sometimes? Sure. But, I love him either way. He became my problem when I pulled him out of that ditch, and no matter how many times I get angry at him, he's still my Abaddon.

He's like, a quarter of my problems. But... I do care about him, in the same way I care about the ghosts. I'm stuck with him, so, might as well try and make the most of him.

Abaddon? He's... fine, I guess. I mean, he kind of creeps me out, but it's not his fault? Plus, Esther seems happy to have a friend as weird as she is. Maybe I'm the one they torment, which isn't really fun, but I don't mind him.

He's amazing! Mom never liked my black magic stuff, and Ben always got too spooked. But Abaddon is genuinely interested! He lets me read him my spellbooks, and show him rituals, and he even shows me some hexes I haven't learned yet!

Nathan's company is not horrible. He used to bring me food whenever I ordered him to, would let me watch whatever I like, even carried me around like a proper servant! Until— ah, ehem. ...Hm.

The Matriarch, Katherine. She is fascinating. I have never seen someone so determined to upkeep this dump. A pastor's church to a farmhouse to an asylum to a prison... and yet she never gives up. I wonder if she's insane. Anyone would have to be to think this place could be salvaged.

Benjamin. The eldest son. He is, pathetic, really. Sensitive, emotional, an inability to make demands. Some days, I feel bad for him. Most days, I don't. Pride is a Sin, one I covet well, and yet he has none. No backbone to be seen.

Esther? Yes, Esther. She is... her presence is preferable. A soul who respects and adores the macabre just as much as I, and with a moral compass I admire. A true prodigy of darkness, if I had came to Earth as a Demon in this century, I would've taken her as a vessel in place of this terrible form.

How do you feel after I told your family that Annabelle’s body was drag with mortoth back to hell and what are you & probably Esther (if you manage to persuade her) to potentially save Annabelle’s body & probably her soul from mortoth?

I- Is Annabelle's soul at risk?!

No, no- okay. A Ghost's body cannot impact them once they're dead. I've never seen a body get, y'know, dragged down into hell. But it's been, what, almost a year, since that day? And Annabelle's been fine. The only problem she could have is losing her Purpose. And Annabelle hasn't been falling through floors has she?

I... no. She hasn't. But how do we know for sure? If- if that demon guy could take Annabelle's soul to hell...

Ben. It's gonna be fine, buddy. Annabelle is gonna be fine. Trust me.

Are you guys a bit worried of Mortoth might find a way back to have his revenge on you guys & probably by using Annabelle skeletal remains that he drag with it back to hell as way to restore the mirror? Also did anyone told Ben and/or Annabelle that Mortoth took her body back to hell with him?

Mortoth will not come back. He does not have a reason. There is nothing in the Hotel he finds valuable, he only tried to kill us because it was convenient.

Hey Katherine, I just wanted to let you know i think you're doing a great job!

I... I mean, thanks. I've been trying my best, y'know? Between upkeeping the Hotel, and the bills, and the kids, and food, and Abaddon, and all of the stuff that's been going on lately?

I need a drink.

I mean, I'm the happiest I've been in years! But I really, really need a drink. I don't think I've been this emotionally exhausted since before I gave Ron the divorce papers. I have my family, and I'm happy. But I'm tired, too.

I'll cope, though. I can do this. I've always been the strong one. I'm fixing this Hotel, and keeping my family safe. I've lost Nathan once already, and I've almost lost Ben and Esther too many times.
