Well it could be Onyn Ring himself but if it's actually someonelse..

The fact that Onyn is a theorist could mean this someone decided to sneak into his room, look through his notes, found something interesting, and brought it with them also hoping no one would noticed.

Orr this someone is trying to hide something that Onyn have found out but others haven't, not wanting the others to find out about it.

And the fact that his room is locked? Could mean two things and one of them is not good..
