A small child wandered the area, seemingly aimlessly. She was a cute little thing, long brown hair, probably not even 10 yet. And while she might seem okay at first glance, her unearthly palor, the way one could see through her extremity and the still bleeding wound across what was her left eye and cheek betrayed her as dead. She continued on, dress stained with dirt and feet blue by cold, when she saw a stranger. Intrigued, she ran, happy to meet someone else after so long.

The soft pitter-patter of steps informed the Gravedigger that he was no longer alone tending the graveyard. He turned, and his eyes widened at the sight before him. A lone child, injured and from the soft blue of her pale skin, dead. His heart wretched, memories flooding back from a long forgotten time.

“Dear child, from whence do you come? For I have not seen the arrival of ships, nor souls to this cursed place.” He crouched to one knee, so he would be able to see her better. His heart still gripped tight in sorrow, already mourning her unfortunate demise.

(( Have I been busy. Got married, got a feline companion for my old cat, went to the doc who then sent my gravediggin’ butt to the ER, only to find out it’s trivial and not worth an ER trip, and man. Busy last couple of months. But I like to think I’m back now?
