Oh, hey! Another person using ponies not only to spread the same kind of man-hating, radical “feminism” the creator of this easily-identifiable character is openly against, but they’re also trying to profit off of it, to boot.

Maybe Hasbro should be made aware of the kinds of things being forced into the mouths of the characters that they hold the copyright to, especially when they’re also using thinly-veiled euphemisms for vulgarity that parents probably wouldn’t be in the mood for trying to explain to their little girls. On top of that, there are no filters that keep an image such as this from easily being found through Google’s Safe Search. The one we are discussing is not. Guys aren't being attacked for being guys or doing guy things, they are being attacked for harassing someone. It's not even an inherently feminist t-shirt, let alone radically, anyone can complain about being harassed and threaten violence, not that a t-shirt threat is meant to be taken seriously. If you substitutive catcall with any other behavior that's equally annoying and rude, like only non-gendered, the meaning would be more or less the same. I used to call myself a brony, and I suppose I still am. But the negative connotation to the word does make me kind of uncomfortable, so it isn’t necessarily a word i’d use to describe myself either. And i’m not a huge fan of pegasister either, because to me brony was meant to be unisex and pegasister needlessly splits fans into their genders(given that those genders fall in the binary).

But yes, I am a fan of MLP, long story short :)

Vandal was once a group of people known for sacking cities. Over the course of two thousand years it has changed to mean anyone who destroys private property. Such a change. Such complex etymology.

Barbarian basically means the same thing today it did in the past but is most commonly used to refer to native peoples. Thus a racist term.

Geek well that is interesting, that isn’t actually a definition of the word from its inception but only it’s most recent two slang uses. Slang or common language is the most versatile and evolves much faster than other more formal uses of language. The modern usage originated with sideshow wild men. Today this term is still very commonly refers to a male dominated sub culture.

Hysteria, really, hysteria. Ok, did you know that this word and derivatives of this word are still more commonly used to refer to women? Apparently not or you wouldn’t have tried to use this as an example. It’s also pretty ableist so yeah, I have a problem with this word.

Hasbro refers to the original owners who were brothers. Just because they have a woman in a high role in the company does nothing to make “bro” less a shortening of brother, which is a gendered word. Also this company only fully invested in toys for little girls in 1982 with the acquisition of My Little Pony. The company has been many times called out for it’s sexist toy marketing and design.

Human, while yeah it has become accepted as referring to all people. It is a heavily gendered term. It is derived from Man, it makes the assumption that Man is the default and all other people are derived from man.

I am not insisting on gendering these words that are gendered they are already gendered.

There are many other differences between the two that are not covered by this comic - for example, humour is ultimately controlled (like everything else) by the society we live in, so some things will fall flat as a piece of “dark comedy” because they resonate too closely with society’s discomforts or issues. Nothing exists in a vaccum, and free speech is not an excuse to make people view your artwork is if it does.

Humour isn’t as simple as you’d think! It’s a complex thing and can be difficult to understand, and if you are interested I reccomend researching popular dark comedy movies and series and expanding your knowledge!

Though a lot of dark humor derives it's humor from the contrast between the character and the horrific deeds they are doing, it makes it even more horrific. I guess the key is that effect isn't really in play with Molestia, in Molestia the problem is that what Molestia is doing isn't actually portrayed as evil at all, while in dark humor what they are doing is clearly evil (though in the world it's in it might be portrayed as not evil or even good, again to add another layer of horrible, or to mock the real world, or something, but the key is the author is clearly showing it's evil). Anyway, Molestia isn't really like normal exploitative humor, at least not how you explain it, as those are usually based on the exploited group being portrayed in an offensive manner, like a gag about a mentally retarded person, while here you are focusing on Molestia herself, not the exploited group, which would be rape victims.
