Got some onesies in the mail - I put this one on immediately! I love space and stars and the moon 🌙💖
(The onesies are cotton, too! Most that I see are polyester which overheats me and makes me all gross and sweaty)
some dividers and banners i made!
please reblog if you use <3
Reminders for Autistic Kiddos!
♾️ You are enough just as you are
🧸 It's okay to need more support and care than other kiddos
🪀 It's totally normal if your version of play looks different. Lining up toys, taking pictures of toys, or however else you choose to play, is just as valuable as playing pretend
🩹 Accomodating yourself is a must! Don't force yourself to communicate or behave in ways that are more palatable to others. Use your aids! (Text-to-speech devices, Communication cards, Blue light glasses- whatever helps YOU)
🍼 There is nothing wrong with being small. Life is hard enough for autistic people. Please give yourself grace and allow your age regression to help you when it can ❤️🩹

good parent letter
this is a therapy skill i’ve learned and i think might be helpful to others to share here! so, here goes!
the idea is, we all have to parent our inner child, and developing that voice to be healthy and loving is a skill. you can benefit from this regardless of how your actual parents were growing up! the child modes are: happy, sad, angry, and impulsive, and they all need different things.
a happy child 😄 needs support (ie: that’s so cool you like to work on your legos, tell me more!)
a sad child 😥 needs reassurance (ie: it’s okay sweetie, i know it’s really hard, but you’re safe right now)
an angry child 😡 needs validation (ie: of course you’re upset, buddy, i would be too if someone pushed me)
an impulsive child 🤪 needs healthy limits (ie: sorry kiddo, i know you want to keep watching bluey, but you have to be up early tomorrow so it’s bedtime)
keep these things in mind with how you talk to yourself, you can even practice by writing them down in a letter. find what works for you and always be gentle with yourself and remember your healing journey won’t look like anyone else’s 💕

ㆍAffirmations for Little Onesㆍ
❄️┊Other people's opinions of me do not have the power to determine who I am, or what I deserve to achieve in life.
💧┊My personal difficulties do not make me a burden to others. I deserve to take up just as much space in the world as anyone else does.
🌊┊I am still a good person, even if I make mistakes or hurt people by accident. Being good is not about never getting things wrong, but about making it right when I do.
💠┊It is my right to decide what my regression feels and looks like. There are no requirements for valid regression, and it does not need to be aesthetically pleasing or purely positive in order to help me.
🌀┊I deserve good things in life, and opportunities to grow into whomever I want to be. The people around me who make me feel like I can't do that are wrong, and it is not my responsibility to change their minds.

Sending Love to Kiddos Who...
♡ Regress to cope with trauma
♡ Regress to cope with stress
♡ Regress to cope with mental illness
♡ Can't regress or have a hard time regressing
♡ Feel embarrassed/ ashamed for regressing
♡ Can't tell anyone about their regression
♡ Have been invalidated/ judged for regressing
♡ Have had a bad experience while regressed
ʚ♡ɞ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚ʚ♡ɞ
You deserve safety, kindness, care, understanding, acceptance, and the whole world. Don't forget that!
i love autistic age regressors (and being one too)
• i love how echolalia turns into play (quoting shows, copying tones, animal noises, favorite words)🎧
• i love how stimming and regression blend together like for me oral stimming with a paci🍼
• i love how routines & sameness can become part of regression
• i love how sameness doesn’t feel boring it feels safe in age re🧸
• i love how we build very specific little setups exactly how we need them & that’s what lets us relax
• i love how regression can make the world feel more predictable when everything else feels too loud or confusing!!!🫠
• i love how special interests come into regression with us
• i love how we can play by lining things up, sorting, stacking, repeating & that is real play!
• i love how parallel play feels natural for us just existing near someone safely without pressure :) age re really allows for this even in online spaces🫂
• i love how our “little selves” aren’t always fully different from our big selves but i also love when they are
• i love how we can be extremely sensitive to many things and how regression can soften that intensity (sometimes at least… lol)
• i love how certain textures can instantly calm us
• i love how safe foods can become grounding rituals
• i love how our bodies show our feelings more
• i love how some of us need more support when regressed and some don’t & neither is “better” (this goes for not regressed too)🩷
• i love how regression can be the only time we feel fully unmasked 🎭
• and that it exists as a space where we don’t have to perform
• i love how trust means everything (who we regress around, who sees us like that)💖
• i love being an autistic age regressor!
• i love that even when i get overwhelmed i have a space in myself that at times feels gentler even with big upset feelings
• i love the autism spectrum and community♾️
• i love that i have seen so many of us in age re spaces
• i love us even though sometimes it’s the hardest thing to deal with!❤️🩹
April is Autism Acceptance Month and I just want to take a moment to talk about autistic age regression in a way that’s rooted in love. It’s not the same for everyone because autism is a spectrum and so is how we experience regression but that’s exactly the point! There’s no one “right” way to be autistic or to need comfort. I see you & I love you. 🥰 I know autism & regression aren’t always the easiest things to deal with but we’re still here, doing our best which is what matters. It’s okay to struggle!! We’ve got this even on the days it doesn’t feel like it. 🌈♾️
Do you have any advice on how to pick a fictional CG? I've been struggling to pick out the right character when I regress
advice on how to pick a fictional cg! ♡༅
paw print: ofc!! here are some things that can help you decide on one!! (i didn't turn this post into my typical whole tips post and layout since this post is a more short post btw!) 🐾
♡ comfort ──୨ৎ── its good to make sure a fictional cg brings you comfort ofc!! sometimes you just come across a character that makes you feel small or comforted, and they'd be a good fictional cg because of that!!
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
♡ personality ──୨ৎ── try to pick one with a personality you like to be around when little! like if you prefer a character that is motherly, fatherly, like a older sibling, playful, etc!
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
♡ expression ──୨ৎ── characters and people express themselves differently!! what character is expressed in a way that makes you feel small in the way you want?
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
♡ fandoms ──୨ৎ── just go through characters in a fandom/community your into and search for a character that checks off those boxes! or try to explore new ones that are maybe popular within agere! (mine definitely isnt though, and yours doesn't have to be either!!)
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
id also like to say that these things however dont mean a fictional cg has to be someone soft and comforting or playful etc. it can also be someone who is rebellious, more serious, a character that makes you feel like you can cry instead of feeling nice and cozy, etc. its all about preferences! just look for a character you really like that would help you regress! :3
bedtime without a cg guide ٭ ☾ ˙
paw print: i dunno if this will be helpful to anyone, but i found it helpful for myself, so i hope someone else can too! 🐾
🧸 clean up time ──୨ৎ── if you played with toys and left a bit of a mess or just left some lying around, you best pick them up! they need to get to their bed as well for the night༅
you can play a song while you do it, turn it into a game, etc!
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
🌙 winding down ──୨ৎ── wind down with a warm bath or shower!༅
make a bubble bath or use a body wash with a soft scent like strawberry or lavender
bring a bath toy or let your favorite stuffie watch over you from the sink!
play music while you wash up!
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
🧸 get cozy ──୨ৎ── dry off first ofc and then put on some jammies!༅
maybe its a pajama set, a cozy onesie, or your favorite oversized shirt or hoodie, just wear whatever you're comfy in!
use baby lotion or a gentle moisturizer too if you want to!
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
🌙 snack & soothe ──୨ৎ── if you are a bit hungry, its okay to have a tiny night snack!༅
this can be warm milk, some yogurt, crackers, etc!
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
🧸 self care! ──୨ৎ── brush your teeth n hair, do skincare if you do that, and use the bathroom!༅
if you dont have one already you can get a toothbrush with a fun color or character on it! you can also use kid's toothpaste!
if you struggle to brush your teeth you can try to sing a song in your head, put on a 2-minute timer, or put a video on! some people also just use their fingers, whatever helps you <3
if you struggle to get motivation to brush your hair, maybe when youre done you can even brush your stuffed animals hair too as some motivation!
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
🌙 rewards ──୨ৎ── if you have a reward chart, put a sticker on for doing such a good job today!༅
no physical reward chart? you can look up cute ones and print them out, or just use online ones!
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
🧸 set the mood ──୨ৎ── to get sleepier!༅
turn on fairy lights or a nightlight!
i like fake candles too
you can put on some backgrounds noise too or find a video or cartoon to fall asleep to if you want!
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
🌙 story time ──୨ৎ── i really like story time!༅ :3
get a children's book and read in your head or out loud!
my favorites are probably touch n feel books
you can also watch asmr videos of people reading bedtime stories to you!
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
🧸 getting into bed ──୨ৎ── bedtime!༅
snuggle into bed with your favorite blankey, stuffie, or comfort item
if you dont feel cozy try making a small nest!!
say nini to your stuffies!
try counting sheep, breathing slowly, listening to the cartoon that plays as faint background noise, or imagining a cute scenario to fall asleep to! goodnight lovely! <3
⊹☾ things you can do for a regressor w⼃ chronic pain
ʚɞ decorate their pill containers with them
ʚɞ help them pick out their favorite kids ice packs, heating pads, and water bottles
ʚɞ hold them tight when they cry
ʚɞ make bracelets with them to put on their mobility aids
ʚɞ reassure them that they're not too much to handle
ʚɞ help them figure out the best distractions for high pain days (playing games, watching movies, coloring, going on walks)
ʚɞ download their favorite games on handheld devices for when they can't get out of bed
ʚɞ keep stim toys (especially pain stims) nearby to keep them from hurting themselves
ʚɞ gather materials for crafts you can do from bed!
⠀⠀⠀⋆ no-sew blankets
⠀⠀⠀⋆ torn paper art: kiddo needs paper for ripping (preferably construction paper), paper for the background, and glue! kiddo can then tear the paper into tiny scraps (like 1-2 in.). they'll love that part. you can use an outline for the next section but it's not required. help them (or direct them to) arrange the paper scraps into a design, like an owl or their name!
shoutout to autistic age regressors who have their autism as a very major part of the reason why they regress.
a major reason why i personally age regress and get the urge to regress is because as an undiagnosed autistic child i was not ready for the rate at which new expectations were given to me.
it's understandable to wanna be tiny when people expected you to meet milestones that you weren't able to meet.
it's understandable to wanna be tiny when infancy seems like the only years where the expectations aren't scary and/or unreasonable.
very very special shoutout to caregivers who have a disability that impacts how they caregive btw 💫
☆ caregivers who need to read lips or use sign language to understand their regressor.
☆ caregivers with autism who struggle to read between the lines and tell what their little needs.
☆ caregivers who put their little one to bed but can never fall asleep themselves due to anxiety, pain, or insomnia.
☆ caregivers who have limited speech or are nonverbal and use AAC to talk to their little ones.
☆ caregivers that are hoh/d/Deaf who miss when their littles need them.
☆ caregivers that rely on a screenreader for story time instead of their organic voice.
☆ caregivers with physical disability and/or chronic illness who struggle to keep up with their regressor.
☆ caregivers who struggle to understand speech and go “what?” several times a voice call.
☆ caregivers that need assurance that their regressor isn’t scared of them due to past trauma.
☆ caregivers who struggle to find resources that are accessible whether its websites or places to go together.
☆ caregivers that see able bodied and neurotypical cgs in the agere community and compare themselves.
i love you guys so much and i promise you that you being there is enough. ⋆。°✩
𖧧 activities for regressors who love being in nature
🪨 make your own pet rock!
find a rock, any size, shape, and color you want. i personally prefer medium circular rocks. make sure it's pretty smooth! that'll help when you pencil your design on it, or just go for it with paint! you can paint on a mouth, eyes (or use googly eyes), hair, etc. then you can display your new little friend wherever you want!
🌿 put nature on paper with texture rubbing!
gather a piece of blank (white or light colored) paper, a pencil/colored pencil/crayon, tape (optional), and something with texture from outside, like a leaf, a rock, tree bark, a flower, etc. you'll put that under the paper (tape it to the table if ya want) and gently rub the pencil/crayon over it until you can see the shape!
🖼️ capture some cutie little clouds!
sit outside/near a window and draw some clouds you see in the sky! i like to give mine silly faces :3
🚸 take a nature walk!
a nature walk is pretty much what it sounds like: a walk in nature. BUT! this time, make an effort to notice the things you see, hear, and feel. you could also write about it when you get home! what animals did you see? what was the weather like? what did you hear (cars/birds/people)? this part would be extra fun for kiddos who like writing, science, or math!
