A portal appeared a few yards from Dinnus. From it floated out a tanned humanoid with long silver hair and long elven-like ears. She looked around, confused. She did not notice Dinnus. She pouted, "This isn't anywhere close to where I wanted to go..."

Dinnus raises his head from his small charge. “Where did you… Better question, who are you?” He asks as he looks over the stranger.

“Mew!” The baby chirped.

Dinnus chuckles, “Well I won’t restrict you but you have to have a firm image of where you want to go. Distractions will get you lost.” He stretches, flicking his tail side to side. “I’ll help if you’d like, though the child is still too young to travel like that.”

“Awww, they’re so cute!” With a flick of her wrist, a small bag of berries appeared in her hand. She opened it and pulled out an oran berry. She held it within the mew’s reach, “You look reeaaally young, so berries are better than sweets right now!”

The Mew tilts her head to the side, “Mew?” She reaches out and grasps the berry. Sniffing it lightly she takes a small bite, then another, and another till the berry is gone. “Mew!” Chirps as her tail twitched wildly.

“She seems to like it, she’s only just hatched a short time ago.” Dinnus says as he watched the child.

“Mew!” The baby chirped.

“I’m a type of celestial that lives in the realm known as Kaima. Kaima is said to be the center of everything, connecting world using gates. Keepers are like guardians of these gates. Our job is to assist the world our gate connects to. Some of us have more then one gate and each gate places us where and when we need to be.” He explains calmly. It seems he’s had to explain this before.

“M-Mew?” The child seems confused and receives a pat on the head from Dinnus.

Clara blinked at the straightforwardness of the answer. She was usually the blunt one. She then let out a strange noise in realization, “Ohhh! I think I get it! I’ve never traveled dimensions before, so maybe you’re supposed to help me with it or something.”

She continued dryly, “More annoying bureaucracy. Yay.”

Dinnus laughs, “You’re correct. This is the Pokémon realm, and I am not a Pokémon. My name is Dinnus and I am a Kaima Keeper.”

“Mew!” The child says as it paws at Dinnus’ tail.

Clara tilted her head and gave Dinnus a curious look, “What’s… a Kaima Keeper?”

“My name is Clara!~” She giggled. Her face then turned curious before here eyes lit up.

“Oh my gosh! It’s a baby! Wait, that’s a mew!”

“So, I’m in the Pokemon dimension? That’s not anywhere near where I wanted to go… and you don’t look like any pokemon my creator knows of…”

Oh...?

The door to Dinnus' cage opens. His head comes up as his ears turn to pick up any sound.

"You have been deemed not a danger, you are free to go." The same female voice says. "I apologize for keeping you Keeper. There is a door on the other side of the room. It has been unlocked and you may leave."

Dinnus tucks the egg into the cloth he had been using to carry it and stands. Taking the cloth into his jaws he slowly walks across the room and out the door. 'This is strange... They know my title.' As he exits the door it slams shut and Dinnus finds himself in the middle of a field. No signs of a building or door remained.

"We will see you again young Keeper. Keep safe the child you carry." The female voice says, sounding very distant.

"Where am I now? Maybe I can ask someone nearby." He says as he sets off. "Who was that thou-" Dinnus is cut off by the shaking of the egg.

Dinnus quickly sets down the egg and takes a few steps back. The egg rocks back and forth before a crack appears down the side. Then another, and another. Before finally the shell seems to fall apart around a small pink body. Dinnus approaches slowly, nosing the shell away from the child. "What in the world..." he says as the child sits up and utters a single cry. "Mew!" Dinnus blinks, "Oh boy."

(The egg has hatched! Also I'm not dead, I've been so busy with work it's unreal. Both Dinnus and the newly hatched Mew are available for asks! They are also lost, again.)

How does it feel to be in a cage? Do you need some company? It sucks to be lonely sometimes but if you want I can hang out with you until you are free or is there some way I can free you?

Dinnus laughs, “I am fine. If there was any threat to me or the egg then I would have left by now.” He smiles at the newcomer. “You are more then welcome to stay if you wish. I would not say no to having the company.”

Captured?

Chains rattle and the sounds of metal doors closing all around. Dinnus opens his eyes slowly. Looking around, he appears to be in a cave of some sort. The egg is tucked to his side.

“At least you’re safe.” Dinnus says to the egg. “For how long I do not know…”

“You are both safe. The cage was for our protection.” A female voice says. The sound seems to echo around the room. “We found you both in the remains of that town. For now rest, I will come see you later.”

Dinnus is locked in a cage with the egg, they both seem fine!

Shaken (pt 2)

Trees become blurs as Dinnus runs towards the smoke. It seems the forest had taken the earthquake rather well. Ahead, the smell of smoke and fear permeates the air.

The forest clears to reveal a large lake, and a burning village on the other side.

“I hope I’m not too late.” He says as he skirts the lake.

“Is anybody there?! Is anyone left inside?!” He calls as he runs down the main path of the village. “Call out if you can hear me!”

His call echoes over the fire, but no one returns it. He turns and as he is about to run from the village a loud crash is heard and all goes black.

Shaken

The rumbling ground rouses Dinnus from his sleep. The egg tucked snugly to his chest. “What on earth is going on?” He gathers his unhatched charge into its cloth and carries it outside. Dust falls from the roof of his small cave as he walks. “An earthquake?”

He looks around as the rumbling stops, “What could have caused-” he pauses as he see's smoke rising in the distance. “Someone might need help.” He says as he dashes off toward the smoke.

Coriander@Dinnus: You said you were a keeper. What do you do as a keeper? Is it a lot of responsibility? How did you earn the role?

“So many questions.” Dinnus muses.  “First I’ll explain what I do.  In Kaima large gates appear connection us to world on the tipping point of disaster.  Our job is to use our powers to try and right the world and prevent its destruction.  The gates are assinged to a Keeper or a group of Keepers based on their abilities and strengths.”

“I personally was rescued by another Keeper when I was young.  He raised and trained me so when he retired I was able to take up his title as Keeper.  So I basically inherited it, though I still had to take many tests and I had to prove my strength to the council.” He says as he flicks an ear.  “As for responsibility, yes it is a huge one.  A world is basically put into our paws and we are told to save it.  Its rather intense at first.”

“Wow, that’s quite the job.”

Cori frowned, pondering something deeply.

“How do you help these worlds on the brink of destruction? You mentioned something about powers, but I’m not sure how the two are connected.”

Dinnus nods, "You are half correct. Our powers simply help us in assisting the world. Mine specifically allows me to manipulate energy by turning it into a crystal form I can use. Other then that the reason you can understand me is part of our powers." His tail wags idly behind him. "Mostly we work with the help of those who live in the world. We wouldn't be able to save it ourselves, besides, if the inhabitants never helped or knew of the problem then it would simply happen again."

Quill@Dinnus: Wow! You're yellow like a jolteon, but- not a jolteon?? That's so funny! Are there are lot of eevee things like you? Do you have a big family of other yelloweons?

Dinnus laughs, “My species is Stareon. I suppose I’m a new evolution of Eevee. And yes there are others, though we aren’t related, they are like family to me. They come to visit every so often.”

Nicolas@Dinnus : "howdy, long time no see, uhh... since when you take care that egg again?"

Dinnus looks up at the voice, “Hey!  The egg?  I woke up and found it laying next to me.  I tried to find the parents but there was no one around.  I couldn’t just leave it so I have decided to raise it.” He says with a large grin.  “Though I have no idea how I am going to do it…”

An Answered Prayer

A mystic voice floats through the air, calm and gentle…

“My children, your prayer was received by me most graciously. Please accept this token of my appreciation… I wish you great tidings in the future.”

A ball of light floated down… and:

A large bag of very rare berries appeared!

Dinnus watches as the light falls before him and the bag of berries appears.  “Huh, So they responded in kind.”  He smiles, “It’s good to know that they listen and still interact with us.”  The Egg he has his tail wrapped around begins to move around.  “These berries well help raise the next generation.  Thank you.”

[The Egg moves around slightly, It might be close to hatching!]

Returning

Dinnus crisscrosses his way through the thick forest surrounding his current home, his egg tucked to his chest by a large cloth he had recently obtained.  As he reached the clearing that contained the small cave he slept in, the fur on his back stands on end.  “Something is wrong... Something I couldn’t handle alone.”  He ducks into his cave and set the egg down gently.  “I know this world has god or beings of the like that watch over it, so this time I leave it to them.”  He sits and looks out at the darkening sky, “If you can hear my prayer, help this world.  Protect the future, if not for us then for our young.” Dinnus looks down at his egg, “For the little ones.”

[Dinnus has returned from the Stargazing event and has sent his prayer for the future of the small life he now protects.]

Nathari@Dinnus: WOW HI THERE! Come out star gazing too huh? I gotta say, I don't think I've ever seen a pokemon like you before... either that or you are just different colors of one the exists! How are you enjoying yourself so far though?

"Greetings! I have to say that I am quiet enjoying myself, the weather is perfect." He says as he wags his tail. "I once lived in a forest in Johto before taking my duties as a keeper, so I am related to the Pokemon here."
