Like, to anyone. Endive, Maisie, Toadstool, Tessie, Mysterious other characters, etc.

Because of the way things are right now it’ll kind of be a bit of a “disembodied voice in the void” thing rather than actual interaction, but it might be a good way for me to get a better grip on things and think about where the characters are at right now, as well as maybe clearing some things up that are confusing.

Or I guess Basil, Tibnog and Silvio could still interact with other characters, or I could maybe do a thing where a brief interaction takes place in a context outside the current plotline if you want.

Main thing is I can’t really start any longer term back and fourth interactions/roleplays/etc at this point ‘cause I don’t think I’ll have the energy for that.

Basically I need to keep this low key. My problem is that things get overwhelming for me way too easily. The longer I ran this blog, I started worrying about whether I was fitting into the rules of what an ask blog was “supposed” to be like, whether I was interacting enough, whether my plot was good enough for some non existent “standard” of the ask community, etc.

And... I think the way I need to look at it is just - this is my story, I’m gonna do my thing and what’s comfortable for me. Which means doing things on my own time and in my own way. ))

The first one is for askthevictorypokemon and the second is for askbasilandendive, for being two of my absolute favorite askblogs and for having such nice stories and characters. You’ve played a big role in getting me to make my own askblog/pokemon webcomic, and for that I thank you both! <3

(17) What would you absolutely refuse to draw?

Porn/fetish art. For all effective purposes my answer to drawing it will be no.

(18) What is your purpose for drawing?

To share the characters and scenes in my head with other people and create a more concrete image of them for myself, and I guess for a sort of repetitive feeling I get from the process itself that I find relaxing and helps me cope with anxiety/mental issues. And maybe more reasons that are subconscious or I can’t think of right now.

(5) Do you practice other styles/have you tried other styles in the past?

I used to draw a lot more... anime... I guess, when I was younger, and I slowly accumulated aspects of other styles I tried that kinda morphed into my current instinctive way of drawing characters. I have tries to imitate the styles of arious other artists for practice (both cartoony and other types of art like realistic, abstraction, etc) - sometimes I had to imitate aspects of other artists’ styles for school assignments I’ve had throughout the years, as well.

(10) What do you like most about your art?

I... don’t really know. I don’t think about this often because admittedly I have a tendency to be a little negative about my work and there’s sometimes these instinctive blockers shooting down positive thoughts about my own stuff as conceited, so I need to work on that. I guess... I’m pretty happy with the way I color, in general. Especially as I’ve started to play with line art color more often, experiment with color palettes, and study the psychology behind color and our perception of it.

(15) What do you like drawing the least?

Probably things entailing detailed, rectangular forms with lots of straight lines - mechanical things, structures/architecture, etc. I really enjoy them aesthetically and want to improve though, it’s just something outside of my comfort zone and I’m still working on getting there. Also, having to draw too many characters at once interacting in the same image is often difficult for me and feels tedious.

(20) How would you rank your art? (poor, mediocre, good, etc.)

This always seems to vary based on who I’m comparing myself to. In communities full of artists I often feel like my style is... decent, but very generic compared to a lot of others which seem to have very distinctive traits.

(1) When did you get into art?

I’ve been drawing as long as I can remember - I used to think up characters and draw them when I was really young and I also had a love for drawing spiders apparently at 3-4 years of age. When I first started making an effort to seriously improve must have been around the time I was in middle school though, at 11-13 years of age.

(22) List at least one of your “artspirations.”

Some early art inspirations for me were actually a lot of the anthro artists on Neopets - I used to idolize a lot of popular Neo comic artists back in the day and they’re probably responsible for dragging me into the inescapable pit of the furry fandom anyway, haha. (Some of them still don’t know I exist though... I kind of stalked them from afar but was too scared to actually talk to them.) And then there’s a lot of friends I’ve made through various communities, including this one, who’ve driven me to want to improve.

(23) What do you think you could stand to improve on?

Hands, dynamic poses, facial diversity, drawing characters from views other than 3/4 or straight-on, landscapes with geometric forms like rooms/buildings that have to incorporate perspective

(4) What defines your artistic style?

My style isn’t entirely consistent and I think we all have trouble being introspective with regards to our own creative work in a sense, but relying on what other people have told me, oval shapes/forms, cartoony, anthropomorphic expressions, often the use of solid/cel shading on characters and a certain atmosphere in the colors I tend to use.

(( I haven’t posted in a while, have I?

I’m kind of in a phase with this blog where I did have planned out where the story was going to go, but I haven’t been able to continue because of

a) College work, real life, and other distractions

b) I’ve been struggling to stitch up the plot holes in the story I had in mind and untangle the messy parts, and it’s hard. It’s really difficult for me to get it to the point where it’s coherent, and then figure out what to show and what not to show, etc.

I’ll see if I ever manage to move along with things as I had planned. If I do manage to get something out at some point, yay, if not, oh well. I guess that’s how it’s gonna go. (And I suppose the same goes for askvivillon.)

That said, I have still been drawing my characters from time to time and I may make quick doofy drawings/comics with them that are irrelevent to the main storyline as well.

OH.

And I’ve been drawing the characters from this blog as humans/ fantasy creatures a bit as well and have been thinking a lot more seriously about developing an AU “original” version of the story at some point.

So, yeah, we’ll see I guess! ))
