Heat, cold, taste, smell, sound, pressure.
Too much, too little; The gap is too big, the gap is too small.
She’s desperately reaching her palm towards a destabilizing, rapidly shutting portal. It threatens to trap her in this realm without light, sound, or sensation.
Her limbs are like jello. After all, without any sort of feelings to work off of, relying on sight has become her only indicator of how she’s moving.
It’s too fast, too slow, she can feel the pull of both sides.
Which one will win out, she only hopes that the choice is made soon.
It has been 0.75 seconds within the real world.
It feels like an hour has passed.
And when she barely grazes her fingers against freedom, the portal snaps shut, enveloping her in the empty, unrelenting void between worlds.
Of course not, let me just- let’s just erase that real quick. A story like this really can’t continue like this!
Here we go, this should be much better…
When her fingers finally graze her chance at freedom, she seizes it, being thrown from the pocket between space and time into a place quite like her own, but ever so slightly different.
She hits the ground, skidding as gravel scrapes her arms and knees. She gasps for air, arms shaking and eyes already watering. The terror catches up to her. She cries.
