Reverselle(s): Violet and Brunette double feature!

(I say, as if anyone is reading) (this rotted in my drafts for like 6 months)

For these two, the swap was easy. Makes a lot of sense too!

Here, violet is the reclusive unsocial one. She needs her space! That’s my explanation of her fortress at least. She prefers to stay alone and keep to herself to an unhealthy degree, and what could be farther than literal space? In the context of her part with all the other Elles, she is incredibly fearful of social interaction and refuses to partake. Her parents don’t like her much.

The fortress

Again, just space. Particularly a satellite, with enough to get her by. It’s not like she wants for anything else either.

And on the flip side…

Brunette! The polar opposite of violet here, because she wants nothing more than to make friends with as many people as she can. Brunette is Disney princess-ing it up in her fortress, and in her real life she confuses people by acting all happy with people the other Elles had grudges with.

The fortress

I kept things mostly the same as the original comic, it’s just the way she interacts with it is different. There’s plenty of animals for her to play with, and she can enjoy herself there as much as she pleases. Some of them are a little more hostile (she isn’t going to tame a bear) but she just sees it as an opportunity to work on her social skills.

Reverselle(s): White

So honestly he was a tricky one, mainly because we just didn’t see him much in the comic, so most of his personality here is built from scratch.

He is NOT trapped away in some far away part of the mind this time (you’ll have to wait and see who is…) and lives and takes control just the same as the others. White is the mentally strong one, meditates on his thoughts and actions. If Blue has good control over the body, then White has good control over the mind. That’s how he was able to manipulate his mental form to be more androgynous even if his physical body is more ‘vaguely feminine’. That said, he isn’t infallible. During the events of the third volume he really struggles to make sense of their situation when he usually knows what to do.

The fortress:

I’m not gonna just have him in Blue’s fortress, that would be boring. White gets his own fortress, the coast of a beach littered with shipwrecks and shrouded in fog. He lives in whichever one is most suitable at the time and is always searching for treasures and trinkets among the wreck.

Extra:

He takes Green’s role, as the best friend of the protagonist. Blue and White were both the ones to put Rose away when they saw she was a threat .

He’s also pretty close to Blue, like green was to rose.

Reverselle(s): Green

Now she’s an interesting one, and I don’t really feel like I changed all that much. She still is mute and she still lives in her swamp, the only thing I really changed is how she impacts the rest of the Elles. Here, Green is obsessed with preparation for some unknown future problem (it makes her feel safe to be ready for every contingency, since she has some issues from when they all were kidnapped). Her days are spent making sure her swamp is secure and that whatever danger is squashed immediately.

In the real world, she has a tendency to hoard and hide things, and the other Elles aren’t too thrilled to find that their stuff has gone missing because Green squirreled it away just in case. She has basically no social life, which worries her friends.

The fortress:

Yeah, she still lives in the swamp but with a few key differences. First of all she has an actual house, a treehouse, to live in. She built quite a few rudimentary structures for practical purposes, mostly storage sheds for just about everything. Food, clean water, weapons, building material, and so on.

Extra:

I think she would best be described as taking the role of Blondie, because I see blondie as blue’s ally and green as rose’s ally. And now that the roles have reversed, she’s like blondie, if it makes sense

Part 2!

Reverselle(s): Rose

This specific image on Pinterest actually inspired the whole AU.

Rose wants what is best for all of them, but here she decides that what’s best is to be comfortable and for things to stay the same no matter what. Blue and White decide to keep her away because her ways to achieve this are often to the detriment of them all. Rose would cut off new friends, get back to old toxic ones, ect all so things would be ‘safer’ (the same as before).

Hence, she is very anxious when the events of the first book begin and they end up at a whole new school. The conflict begins when Rose escapes her prison to try and prevent all of this sudden change.

The prison:

Now, I may have chosen a color change of Blue’s prison, but Rose’s is different.

Since, in the og, Blue used ‘natural’ forces to keep the others away (ie squid, tornadoes, gators) Rose is not kept in a literal prison but in a natural disaster made to keep her in place.

Rose is kept floating in the eye of a hurricane over the ocean, confined to only one safe spot. At the beginning of the first book, she escapes by floating so high she’s above it entirely.

By the start of the third book, she is instead in a tornado on land near Blue and White

Her world:

Of course, this isn’t her actual world. Her real fortress is still the diner, but instead it’s on a desert island instead of just a desert. And like Blue in the og books, her real fortress is right next to their super mysterious friend’s resting place.

Extra:

-Rose takes the place of Blue as an antagonistic figure

Let’s go,

Reverselle(s): characters

Let’s start with blue:

Honestly, I don’t think I changed her that much and instead built off of what was already there (and of course, making her less ‘evil’). Really, her explanation of why she was the way she was seemed… bland? Like, you just stole at least €50+ just ‘cause?

Instead, I leaned into her cleverness and craftiness, and granted they do cause some trouble at times, but it’s not just being a jerk for no reason. Here, Blue is all for finding the most creative ways to solve problems, and it just so happens that those are the fun ways. She’s sociable and loves attention but will stay quiet when she needs to. She’s also a drawer, notebook at hand at all times in case she comes up with some great idea.

Her world:

I’ll be real, I changed her fortress up because it would be boring to just have another forest, or at least another plain forest.

Blue’s world would be a workshop at the edge of a forest and a meadow, so she would have all of the raw material she would need. In there, she would craft and invent to her heart’s content.

Extra:

-She would be taking Rose’s place the one in control most often

my Elle(s) AU: Reverselle(s)

Spoilers for all of Elle(s) ⚠️

So as the title suggests, this is a role-reversing AU, in which Blue takes on a more ‘protagonist’ role and Rose takes on an ‘antagonistic’ role, with all of the other Elles changing roles as well.

Honestly I haven’t thought that much about how the relationships between Elle’s friends would change, so I’m thinking for this one it would only be the Elles who would change

The big things that will change:

-How the internal world structure will work out, to be honest I kinda overhauled most of it. Instead of totally separate worlds, they are in the same world just very spaced out, if it makes sense ^^’

-The Elle’s story will be more aligned with the perspectives that they do have OSDD/DID, because honestly it makes more sense within the storyline I have for the AU

-their relationship with their bio mother is a smidge less positive because I feel like in the og story they were a little more quick to get over a kidnapping than they should have

-the personalities of the Elles, duh

-not gonna have it end in them fusing completely

So yeah, perhaps I’ll write about it more sometime? In any case, I’ll probably elaborate on exactly how I swapped the roles of the characters in a future post

being in a small fandom is like being given a bone, chewing on it until you're done with it, burying it in your backyard, and then digging that same chewed up bone months later to continue chewing on it, and then the cycle just repeats.

this is especially true for small fandoms that you know won't be getting any new content, so you just have to consume the content you've already consumed thousands of times before.
