John huffed, crossing his arms over his chest and glaring at nothing in particular. The situation was stressful, and hard to work out. âI donât know Alex, you were the one that asked for this, I thought you would have it worked out.â
Alex frustratedly ran a hand through his hair. âI might have been really fucking drunk when I said the three of you should date me, it was pretty spur of the moment actually. Didnât think youâd all agree.â
âSo, are you not sure that you want to do this? I donât want to get into a relationship that you wanted when you were drunk. If it was just a drunken mistake we should leave it at that.â

John had been swimming close to the surface during a rather harsh storm, enjoying the combination of the rough waves and his strong ability to swim. Seeing a few rocks, he pulled himself up to take a small break and looked around. Naturally, he was a bit alarmed to see a human ship, clearly in danger. Now, the rules said that he wasnât mean to help humans or interact with them at all, butâŠrules were made to be broken too, now werenât they?
Rain had soaked through his clothes and chilled him to the core. How was Alexander suppose to get himself through this one? The young man took down the sails quickly before the storm had started, but nothing was saving him when he felt the edge of his ship crack against something, throwing his whole body over the other side. With a flash he found himself falling, feeling his body had hit cold water and proceed to be sucked under the waves. There was no one to help him now.
John dived into the water, and he was able to locate the fallen human with ease. He was used to seeing things underwater, after all. He reached the human and took the man into his arms before going to the surface. He learned the last time that he tried this that humans need the air regularly to survive. He continued to swim backwards towards the rocks then, trying to find somewhere to set the human down on. Upon reaching the rocks, he helps the (somewhat dazed) human onto the rocks. âAre you okay?â
Alexander thought he was a goner for sure. But as he felt himself slowly sinking into a long, dark blackness he felt a pair of arms wrap around him. This wasnât the first time he had narrowly escaped death, but he had thought this would be the last time he got so close and survived. He was wrong apparently, as he felt himself being pulled up into the surface and lain out on the wet rocks. His vision had blurred for a moment, and everything seemed hazy but he still saw the figure of a man leaning above him. âYeah, Iâm fine.â He croaked, coughing up some water previously trapped in his lungs. âHowâd you find me?â
John was glad that he was able to get the human onto some elevated land, though they were still a distance from any inhabited islands or mainlands. He held onto the rock and made sure that the human was breathing. Sometimes it was hard to tell that they were still alive when he pulled them to safety, but this one was still awake. Most of his tail was still in the water, but a sliver of where his waist went from scales to skin was visible. âI was already swimming nearby when I saw your ship. Why were you going anywhere during the stormy season? Donât you know that itâs dangerous?â
"I'm so confused, I don't understand it. I want you, but I want them, too." ((Gay quartet he'll yeah))
John started bouncing his leg on the ground, looking down at his feet and sighing.âIâŠI think I feel the same way? I donât know, I never thought Iâd be in a relationship with one guy, let alone four.â
Herc sighed and leaned against the wall next to John. âHey, this is new territory for me, too.â
âWhat if it doesnât work out though? Youâre the closest friends I have, I donât want to loose any of you.â
He frowned. âSame here. I⊠We donât have to. I donât wanna ruin all of this with my stupid misplaced romantic feelings.â
âButâŠmaybe we could have a trial period? Or just likeâŠa trial date? It wouldnât be that different from our normal hang outs, but with more hand holding and stuff.â
Herc nodded slowly and let out a brrrah, his head snapping to the side. Â âYeah. Â Thatâs a good idea. Â We should do that.â Â He smiled at John. Â âThis could work.â
John relaxed as they started to figure out a plan, something that wouldnât result in their entire friend group collapsing on itself. âSo, maybe that cafe by campus or something?â
âYou used to be such a good kid⊠glad I was able to break that out of you.â
John leaned against Alexander as they looked at the large, burning building that had happened to belong to a CEO that crossed theirâŠ.organization. âIâm glad you broke it out of me.â
Alexander smirked and wrapped an arm around johnâs shoulders âWe should get going before the clean up crew gets here. Dont want to be mistaken for witnesses.â
John let out a soft him of agreement and nodded, pressing a small kiss to Alexanderâs cheek and starting to walk to the car. âWe should go out on hits like this more often.â
âWellâŠtheres a guy who owes us aboutâŠ300k by tomorrow. if heâs late we can torture him on friday.â ALexander purred
John pulled his legs up to his chest as he got into the passenger seat of the car, and he grinned. âYeah? Letâs hope he canât get it in by then.â

John sat with his posture rigid in the tall, straight backed chair, his father sitting next to him. Across the table was the youngest daughter and the king from the kingdom that they had been at war with for two years now. All of the talk for the past hour had been of dancing around the subject of what a treaty would entail. Likewise, the two younger royals in the room had been making silly faces at each other when their fathers werenât looking.

Peggy was bored out of her mind. she wished her father hadnât dragged her along to this meeting, but as it turned out, the king that was visiting had a son about her age. she didnât know if she liked him or not, seeing as their kingdoms were at war, but making faces across the table at him was relieving her boredom. the boy made an extra silly face, and it was taking all of Peggyâs willpower not to laugh at him.
John was pretty sure that he wasnât supposed to be friends with the girl across the table from him, or anyone from the other kingdom. They had been fighting for a while, after all. But, he enjoyed making the silly faces at the girl, since it meant that he wouldnât be so bored with the dumb talks that their fathers were having. When he saw that his latest face nearly made the girl giggle, he grined. He liked making people happy, and laughing meant that he was making her happy.
Peggyâs father glanced over at her, and she quickly composed herself, biting her bottom lip to keep herself from laughing. her fatherâs gaze returned to the other king, and Peggyâs returned to the boy across the table. she attempted to make a face that was equally as funny as his.
John ended up having to put his hands over his mouth to keep himself from giggling at the newest face that the girl made, but he quickly dropped them back down as his father looked at him. He met his fatherâs gaze and nodded at the command to leave the room and show âPrincess Margaritaâ to the gardens for a time while the kings discussed matters not fit for them to hear.
"You know that look indoor cats get when they finally escape the house, then immediately regret it? That look is written all over you face right now⊠You okay?"
John looked at the man speaking to him, trying to smile a little bit bur falling flat. âUh, yeah. Iâm good, I think? Thereâs this guy out there that kind of isnât taking a hint but Iâm fine.â
âI can get rid of him if you want me to.â
âAre you sure? I wouldnât want to inconvenience you or anything.â
âItâs cool. I got this. Where is he?â
âAt the far end of the bar.â
Aaron spot him and glared. He walked up to him and said, âMy boyfriend doesnât like how creepy youâre being. Back off.â
John watched Aaron from a few feet away, ready to hop in if something went wrong. He leaned against the wall and grinned as he looked at Burr, a feeling of warmth in his chest as he was defended.

His entire body ached from the 45 minute effort he had taken, and he knew that he was going to be regretting it for a few days after. He was planning on taking a nap before his captors returned, but he heard a soft voice on the other side of the wall. âHello?â
