I mean, technically, yes, they are sitting on a shelf, but they’re basically harmless. Like, people only get radiation poisoning from stuff like uranium and radium after long term exposure over multiple years where they’re in close contact with it. Like, I could drink Radithor and not be affected, I mean I wouldn’t anyways, but if I was human and could get cancer, it once would do minimal damage. People’s jaws only fell off after they drank Radithor multiple times a day for years. The misconceptions people have about radiation!

Also, if you went swimming in a pool at a nuclear reactor, you’d be unaffected because water acts as an insulator and prevents the particles from shooting off far.
