AU #3: Lost
onceuponanask:
Passengers of Enchanted Forest Airlines Flight 815 find themselves on a mysterious island in the middle of the ocean after a plane crash. What happens when the surviving passengers, a group of total strangers with one common fate, are forced to cooperate in order to survive?
This is a modern AU inspired by the TV show Lost, our characters have no memories of their canon lives. Anyone can participate, even if you’ve never watched an episode, no knowledge about the show is needed! The only information you have to know is found in the AU’s summary above.
If you want your character to be a resident of the island and not a passenger, we’d accept it too. What they do there is completely up to you–they can be good, or even evil to cause some trouble; someone who got stuck on the island after a previous crash–anything is welcome.
Lost AU begins on Friday, September 8 until Saturday, September 16 with an option for an extension.
Enjoy the plotting!
AU: "Lily! Let's go on the large spinning teacups!!"
Lily smiled. “Why is it that you always wanna go ONLY on that rides that make me dizzy? I just ate a whole turkey leg!”
AU #1: Disneyland Christmas
After all the drama, all the spells, and all the dark curses, it’s time for our characters to take their annual holiday vacation for the holidays. That’s right, WE’RE GOING TO DISNEYLAND!
Just like last year, this is an AU for our characters to relax and have some fun times at the park, buy each other gifts, ride rides together, and watch the fireworks. In tradition, we will also be opening up gift exchanges between characters and followers! So everybody is welcome to send gifts to whoever they want. Make sure your submit boxes are open!
To end this year on a good note, this AU is going to start 12/17 and end right on 12/31. To see how everyone is spending the trip, check our characters’ blogs for specific details, and our AU page for more information.
We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season! Enjoy your trip, and remember, when you wish upon a star, your dreams might just come true ♥
Unexpectedly
Aurora rolled her eyes playfully at the reminder (#haha). She pulled at the zipper of her wallet gently, slowly as she watched Lily walk away over her shoulder. Her gaze traveled from Lily’s legs all the way to the gentle sway of her soft brown hair against her back. A small smirk accompanied her stare when blue eyes found a rather interesting focus point above the legs and below the small of Lily’s back.
#surprisesurprise #herewego
When Lily sat down, Aurora turned away quickly, meeting eyes with the ice cream lady. She couldn’t actually make out her name very well–or even attempt to say it for fear of doing it wrong–but the ice cream lady smiled at her, and gave a nod. “I’m sorry, how much are they, again?”
Fortunately, that was the end of that. Aurora paid for the ice cream, and sauntered over to meet her new friend for a treat. Unfortunately, something decided she would look better with a smile, and the more she tried to stop, the harder it became. It was like those things they used at the dentist to keep your mouth open just a little more while they worked on you, except they were tugging at the sides of her mouth relentlessly–demanding she smile bigger, wider, brighter.

“What flavor did you pick?” Aurora asked as she carefully slid into the seat across from Lily. Instinctively, she propped an elbow on the table, chin resting the palm of her hand. “And which one’s mine?”
Lily looked up as Aurora sat down in front of her, resting her chin on her hand in the most endearing way possible. It took everything in Lily to not lean over and kiss her right there, right in the middle of this small ice cream shop.
“This one’s yours,” Lily said, holding the ice cream cone out in front of Aurora’s hand. “And, uh, honestly, I’m not sure what I got.”
She looked down at the yellow and red swirled ice cream in front of her and poked it gingerly with her spoon, frowning slightly. “Could be...vanilla and raspberry? Pineapple and strawberry?”
Lily shrugged helplessly. “All ice cream is good ice cream, right?”
Lily walked into the almost empty bar quietly, glancing around surreptitiously. It was only 2, and it was likely the place wasn't filled until at least 5, save for a few town drunks, but she couldn't even spot the owner. "Hello?" she called out, taking a few steps. This was the last place open on Main Street, and her last option. Lily was desperate: no job meant no money, and that meant nowhere to stay for the next few weeks. "Anybody home?"
Welcome darling, how may I help you?
Wonderful, then I shall see you tomorrow. You would be correct.
“I’ll be here, then, bright and early,” Lily smiled again, walking out of the bar backwards, giving the other woman an impromptu peace sign before she turned around and left.
AU: So, Aurora, huh?
Aurora’s really nice, and she paid for my ice cream, which makes her alright in my book.
She’s cute, too, not that it’s any of your business.
Unexpectedly
Aurora chuckled lightly at Lily’s reasoning. “But isn’t that the point of us getting ice cream, silly? Go on, put that thing away.”
Maybe she could’ve worded it better, but it was more or less the truth. If she looked deeper into this scenario, it would’ve been a helluva story for Tumblr. Clumsy #smol girl meets #tol girl and they walk out of the diner together for a date or something. (#meetcute #otp)
She was partially aware there was something else going on right under her nose, from Lily’s failure to grasp the concept of treat to her own blunders like saying hashtag out loud or winking of all things. Speaking for herself, she always did like meeting people, so perhaps it was merely the excitement of it. A new friend was definitely positive change in her mundane life. (#whenwillmylifebegin?) But for now…
#check #and #mate
“If we don’t get brain-freeze, I promise I’ll try to remember that. Next time.” She placed her phone back in her pocket before returning to shake Lily’s hand gently. Well, it was more #squeeze, less #shake, but she’d been told before she had a #stronggrip. Maybe Dad was just being nice though. “Now, take ‘em and grab us some seats, will you? I’m right behind ya.”
“I forgot about how you almost killed me in the doorway of Granny’s Diner,” Lily grinned. “You’re right, then, I guess you should be paying, as a thanks for me not suing you after my near death experience.”
Aurora squeezed her hand gently and Lily felt her heart pick up its pace, just a tiny bit, before their hands let go of each other again. She reached for the cone and cup as Ejdeha placed them down on the counter, who gave her a warm smile before she turned to give Aurora her attention.
“I’ll hold you to that,” Lily replied, tossing her hair back to keep it away from the ice cream. “Now, I’m going to go follow orders and get us a nice seat.
She walked away, spying a two person table tucked away into a small corner of the room and walking towards it, placing her cup down as she gripped Aurora’s ice cream cone awkwardly. The napkin covering the cone was making her grip a little loose, and she almost dropped the cone as she sat down.
She better hurry, or I might accidentally let this thing fall right into my lap.

Aurora is one to throw #surprise parties.
When Lily’s birthday comes up, you bet she can’t claim the job of #partyplanner fast enough. She takes care of it all: the cake, foods, guest list, music… she’s not so great at booze though so she lets Emma or Cruella take care of that.
She also makes sure the cake has something silly like an inside joke or a pun written on it in blue icing #Lililicious #BetYouCantCandleThisEpicCake;) #ILYLILY
She makes sure everything is going to plan because she’s taking Lily out for a nice, relaxing birthday. Who’s more distracting for Lily than her girl, right? She plays it up real good, all #chill and #nonchalant. Lily’s surprised she’s only touched her phone once or twice to tweet and tag her in #birthday things but Aurora’s all, “Well, I don’t wanna be rude to the birthday girl, do I? Hashtag-no.”
They have a picnic in the park, walk around a bit, stare at clouds. They wander around the alleys (#maze) behind people’s houses, pretending to be lost and not caring where they end up because it’s not like they’re in any danger. If Lily gets tired and wants to go home, Aurora will insist on stopping for a #peebreak and she’ll use the time to put her phone on silent and text whoever’s in charge of the house. On the home front, whenever someone needs a break they’ll get a pin of Aurora’s location so they can “randomly” bump into Lily and wish her a happy birthday, and chat a little so she doesn’t think they’re planning anything (or that they’re in on it if she suspects). Of course, they rotate. The more people Lily sees, the better, and she won’t see the same person twice (except for Emma maybe).
When they finally get home and Lily is hit with a loud “SURPRISE!” Aurora’s final facebook status for the night is a bunch of heart, cake and star emojis, and variants of #success!!! #yay #happybirthdaymybeautifulstar #youdeserveawonderfulbirthday #iloveyou #<3
Unexpectedly
Thankfully her thumbs were adept to fast typing. She only heard the tail end of the order (#cuporcone #whichwaswhose?), but when she looked up and caught sight of Lily reaching for what was definitely a wallet, Aurora cleared her throat. #loudly.
“Whatever you’re thinking of doing with that, Lily, please don’t. Unless you’re showing ID because you’ve picked an alcoholic ice cream or something…” She eyed the woman behind the counter curiously. “Is that a thing? It isn’t, is it?”
#crapihopenot #plzno #ohgodifitisithinkivejustfoundasafewaytodrinkandicanNOT #nopenopenopenope
Phone still in hand, she reached out and touched Lily’s arm anyway, softly brushing with her knuckles. She read somewhere a little touch to the arm helped in the art of persuasion, and now was as good a time to test it. “C'mon, it’s my treat, remember? Please? If you want to feel bad about it, remember we’re eating your delicious ice cream.”
A small smile and batted lashes usually did the trick too.
Lily laughed. “Alcoholic ice cream? Now that would be a way to get me to have more fun at parties.” A little more seriously she added, “I just feel weird letting you pay for everything.”
She looked down as Aurora brushed the backs of her fingers against her arm and smiled, her eyelashes lowering delicately, and Lily could barely even hear what she was saying because holy crap this girl was too cute for her own good.
“Fine,” she said, her throat dry all of a sudden. “But, I’m paying next time. Deal?”
She stuck her right hand out, using the other to push her wallet back down into the back pocket of her jeans.
Unexpectedly
#OMFG #leastshedoesntfindmevapid
“Oh, you know that was funny.” Aurora giggled. “Hashtag-puns!”
As her mirth subsided and she followed Lily to the counter, she pulled her wallet from her purse and her phone from her pocket. “Well, you can tell me all about your travels and the amazing things you’ve seen after I buy you that ice cream, okay?”
Things were going nicely, and her itch to Pin was showing itself out. Ice cream was ultimately a #greatidea, and Lily was #greatcompany, but for some reason, she winked right after she said it. (#WHY???) Immediately she dropped her gaze to her phone and tapped the blue icon with the giant lowercase F.
“Take your time on deciding what you want, okay? I’ll get the same. Surprise me.” And with that, Aurora began to type. She was semi-aware she was doing the lip-pursing thing again, an odd habit that popped up sometime in her early teen years when she tried too hard to hyper-concentrate, but hopefully her phone blocked any view Lily could get of it. (#sheshouldbelookingattheicecream)
Guess who’s getting #icecream with a new friend? This gal!! ^-^ heeheehee!!! I’ll keep you guys updated or you can #hmu #whatQs #shouldiaskher Xx Aurora
Lily glanced at the array of flavors in front of her, then turned to look at Aurora, who winked at her, before turning to type something on her phone.
What’s that wink supposed to mean? Lily thought, looking back at the ice cream, trying to sneak peaks at whatever Aurora was typing. It’s a shame there’s no secret lesbian language to flirting. How's anyone supposed to know who's interested and who isn’t? By just asking them? How ridiculous.
The woman behind the counter smiled at her and Lily smiled back, trying to concentrate on picking a flavor.
She pointed at a bright yellow ice cream with red swirls. “Can we get that one, please?”
The woman, whose name tag read Ejdeha, looked a little surprised, but nodded, dipping her scooper in a tub of water before bringing it back to the ice cream.
“Cone or cup?”
Lily turned to look at Aurora, who still seemed engrossed in her phone. Surprise me.
“Uh, one cone, one cup please.” She reached for her wallet, prepared to at least make an effort to pay. Lilith Page may be broke, but that didn’t mean she was a moocher.
Unexpectedly
“Shush!” Aurora laughed. “I swear that’s the first time I’ve said hashtag in any conversation, like, ever. Usually I keep my tags in here—” she poked the side of her head. “… that’s not helping my case, is it?” she murmured after a moment before dropping her hand to her side again. It barely missed bumping into Lily’s. “I’m not winning any points with you, am I?”
#fail #epicfail #nicegoingrora
To her relief their conversation, awkward though it was, took up the bulk of the walk. When she saw the sign of the ice cream shop a few feet away, Aurora jogged ahead and held open the door. (#norepeatsplz) The cool air inside was a very welcome shift.
“Fairyfield is a fairy small town, why haven’t I seen you before if you lived around here?” she asked, leaning against the door with a tilt of her head. “So, does that mean you’re going to Fairyfield Community College too?”
Lily smirked. “It’s kind of cute, actually.” Who’d have thought that someone speaking in hashtags would be so...adorable.
Sappy much?
Lily watched as Aurora jogged up to the door then paused just inside the ice cream shop. A gentlewoman. Or maybe she just didn’t want a repeat of what happened earlier.
“I moved around a lot as a kid,” she said nonchalantly. “I lived here for maybe...five years, altogether. Not consecutive years, though.”
Lily smiled as she followed the other girl in, walking up to the counter. It was cold in here, and eating ice cream in such a cold room would probably give her a toothache, but it was, as Aurora would say #worthit.
“Wait, did you say fairy small?”
Unexpectedly
“I’ll say…” Aurora murmured. Her gaze fell to their feet, and she watched with amusement as they eventually fell into step. She was going to launch into a whole tirade about how she was glad she was named Aurora and not Day or Sunny because that would be the most ironic thing. Considering how the sun was treating everyone at the moment (#RUDE). “If you want to talk about it over the ice cream, I wouldn’t object. Hashtag-ice-cream-is-cool.”
She froze.
Crap. She didn’t actually say the word hashtag out loud, did she? Yeah, that was going to win points. Lily was going to write her off as one of those ditzes who only cared about social media and drooled over fictitious gay men and… other unflattering stereotypes.
“SO… when were you last in town? What were you up to?” she added quickly, picking up the pace from before (okay, maybe a little faster than intended). She flipped her hair over her shoulder and cursed at herself for forgetting a hairtie to keep it up. It was much too hot for a hairflip #ohgosh.
#verysmartrorasheesh #iseriouslyneedtostop #aminervous? #isthisadate? #maybethatswhyimneverous #whenwasthelasttimeiwentoutwithanyone? #ohno
Did this girl just say ‘hashtag-ice-cream-is-cool’ out loud?
As much as Lily wanted to laugh, place this girl in the box of ‘girls who get mad when they break a nail and are obsessed with their #aesthetic’, she couldn’t. Aurora looked so mortified as soon as it slipped out
“I actually used to live here,” Lily said carefully. “I’m going back to school in a few weeks, though, you know how it is, that hashtag-college-life.”
Okay, so maybe Lily couldn’t resist teasing her just a little bit.
Unexpectedly
“Lily. It suits you.”
She didn’t need to be asked twice if she was going. The desire to just stay and Pinterest for a few hours was still there, but it would be rude to back out now.
“Of course.”
“So, rough day, is it?” she asked as she followed Lily out, squinting as the merciless sun rays beamed down upon the Earth. “Was it before or after the summer sun came out?”
#sunscreenughmorelikeDONEscreen #sunscream
The ice cream shop was much worth the walk, though. Maybe she should’ve asked what flavor ice cream Lily wanted before delving into the more personal things. At least she didn’t just blindly ask how her day was, so there was one #awkward moment averted.
Lily smiled at her, slowing down so they could walk side by side.
“It was definitely a bummer before the sun came out, but the sun sure didn’t help things.”
Lily had the strange urge to tell Aurora everything on her mind, everything that was troubling her, the real reason she was back in a town she swore she’d never return to.
She didn’t, though. She had the feeling a near stranger wouldn’t appreciate being the recipient of word vomit.
“So, what’s up with this ice cream shop? I don’t remember one being here last time I was in town.”
How does tomorrow sound? While there is no dress code, I do ask that all employees must look presentable.
“Tomorrow’s great,” Lily replied. “So, uh, I guess that means no weird tattoos or cotton candy colored hair?”
