“The bird seed is a new thing within the last 50 years. Since rice is bad for birds, they use bird seed instead.”
“Still never heard of it.”
“Mostly US and other parts of Europe.”
“Well, we’re not in the U.S. or other parts of Europe, so I don’t know where you got that from.”
“Strange. I been to a lot of weddings in Europe and the US and I have seen it happen every time.”
“Not every wedding is going to have it.”
“True.”
“And frankly, I wouldn’t want to put someone through cleaning that up.”
“True, that is why I like people blowing bubbles.”
“I’ve never heard of people blowing bubbles at weddings either.”
“Oh well nothing thrown and no bubbles. Got it.”
“Surely there’s other things we can do at our wedding.”
“Smash wedding cake at each other’s faces, tossing the bouquet, flinging of the garter. Daddy/daughter dance.”
“The cake smashing I could see you starting first. One problem with the daddy/daughter dance... which daughter would I choose? I have three.”
“All three.”
Beck chuckled. “Alright.”
“Good.” Sylvia said as she walked back to the kitchen counter and started on one of the sides.
“I’m sure my girls would be happy with that. Right, Joy?” He asked Joyce.
“Dada! Dada!” Joyce said with a giggle as she clapped her hands.
A smile crossed Beck’s face. “That’s my little bundle of joy.”
“Yes she is.”
“And she’s adorable.”
“Well it runs in the family.”
“Gets it from her mamma.”

“Food!!!” The boy giggled happily. Raven then grabbed a TV try and placed a bib on Ragnar. “There we go.”
“Someone’s hungry,” Tómas chuckled.
Raven sat on the coffee table and started feeding Ragnar. The boy was eating happily and asked. “Why mama hurt when there is gray snow outside?” Now this was a question Raven had no problem answering. “Well because the land your see around you, the trees, the water, the ground is part of mommy. And there is a mountain that made the gray snow and that mountain is connected to mommy where her bobo is.”
“The land we live on currently is part of mamma. I have my own far away from here.”
“Am I a land person too?” Ragnar asked as he kept eating his lunch. “Yes you are. There is a part of mommy’s land that has a lot of people from daddy’s land that moved there long ago. And that is your land. That land is a part of you.”
Tómas nodded. “Notice how I sound different from mamma? It’s because my people speak a different language. One that’s not like most others.”
“In fact your daddy’s language is similar to daddy’s daddy and momma’s language. Which people don’t speak anymore.” Raven said as Ragnar finished eating. “What does mommy’s mommy and daddy lang-oo-gage sound like?” asked the boy.
“What parents?” Tómas asked. “I never had parents. Not like Beck and Mikkel from what I hear. But yeah, my language is similar to one that’s extinct. As well as Faroese.”
“You have a point. All I know about Icelandic it is the only Nordic language that is closest to Old Norse.”
“Icelandic and Faroese. So I could have an entire conversation with storebrors oldest daughter in our languages and no one would know what we were saying.”
“I can believe it. Icelandic is one of the world’s hardest languages to learn for a non native. But as for momma. It is Salishan and Spanish.”
“That it is. But it’s funny seeing their attempts.”
“Don’t get me started on Finnish or Estonian. They are worse.”
“And Hungarian. That’s in the language group as well.”
“Oh yeah. But Dutch is the easiest after English.”
“I wouldn’t know. I don’t speak Dutch.”
