ROTG: Polar Express!
Coming back around with hot chocolate for the now filled cabin he paused by Cecil again. Smiling as he looked at all of the writing.
“Someone’s inspired.” The conductor commented offering the hot chocolate out with a chuckle. Green eyes bright with a spark that was perhaps more then mischief or mirth.
Cecil thought for a moment, but shook his head, ““No thank you, sir. I’m not supposed to have sugar. It makes me hyper.” He was still grinning, though not as wide, with it being a more calm smiled than anything. He rubbed his eyes, letting out a soft yawn, then quickly pushing it down as he kept his eyes trained on the papers.
He shrugged, very well. Handing it back to one of the passing servers he turned his attention back to what Cecil was writing. Curious but not about to ask. He’d certainly give himself away if he asked.
Moonbeam flickered a little from over Cecil’s shoulder at him getting a glance and a shake of his head.
Cecil hummed, then moving forward and grabbing the man’s wrist lightly, “You wanna see what I’m writing?” The teenager was just happy to have someone who seemed willing to talk to him. “It’s based of what you said earlier, about magic and science possibly being able to be at the same time!”
A smile curled along his features. “Why don’t you tell me? I like listening to you.”
It was easy to say, an easy answer to tell. An easy request to make. An easy truth to hide. Reading was something hard, at least it was in this language. Too bad no one now wrote in old Golden Age text. That would have been easy.

“You never know what might happen along the way! That’s the point of an adventure. Never know who might join you either, that’s half the fun.” He answered with a smile.
“After all what could happen? It might happen! In fact I think it may! The point is, will you have fun in the happening? And will you learn something along the way?” The conductor grinned bright, seeming almost to glow even in the light of the train car.
Maghnus chortled with laughter, the sound coming out in tiny squawks. Seeing the light in the conductors eyes, the blue orbs copied nearly the same.
“It is fun so far! I bet this night will be lots and lots of fun.”
As they passed an empty booth, Maghnus patted at his friend to stop. Leaping down onto the table, the little dragon scurried to the window to see the world go by outside. Swirling snow and unfamiliar landmarks passed by with the steady clunking of the train wheels and engine. They were already far from the woods and the burrow.
“It’s very big out there. Is the North Pole big?”
“Safe! Like treasure! A lotta the clan guard treasure, so I’ll guard it!”
Tucking the ticket under his neck scarf, the small dragons eyes flickered in a sharp glow. Like a hidden pocket, the ticket was slipped into a small void of space. It was one of the many perks of his kind.
Looking up at the conductor proudly that he would be able to accomplish this task, his gaze quick wavered to meet the gazes of several other children watching. Maghnus could suddenly felt rather alienated and exposed. Humans were creatures he interacted with under his mothers watch and in a disguised form. It was unlikely this children had seen a dragon in their raw form before. Tentatively, Maghnus inched off the table to the seat to try and avoid being watched by the other children.
With an encouraging smile the conductor stayed right where he was. Keeping watch as a barrier between the dragon and the children for now, and a proud guardian for all the good things that were being done.Â
No need to shy away now when he’d been so comfortable atop his shoulders. No one had bothered him while they’d walked.
It was an easily offered hand held out to the young dragon. He was here if needed, no need to worry. Nothing to fear.

“It’s very big out there. Is the North Pole big?”
With the little dragon settled in a spot he smiled looking out of the window along with him.
“It is both small and big. Small because of the elves that work there, but otherwise it is very big! It’s almost a small town on the ice!” He answered with a soft laugh. Ever extravagant, couldn’t put anything past North.
The train sped on whipping through the scenery like it was nothing. This had been a rather uneventful ride this year, no troublemaker riders.
“Elves? What are those?”
Maghnus turned back to the conductor, his head cocked in a tilt as he questioned aloud. The shifters and dragons knew many things, but he was still young and “fresh” to the world. He wondered if there might be ice shifters in the north that they might meet.
The neck of Maghnus scarf began to itch once more. Scratching at it with a hind foot, a golden ticket fell out from the folds. Blue eyes blinked in surprise, the dragon hadn’t put that there! Nosing at it, the young one snuffles and snorted.
“What’s that? Did you hide it there?”
Laughing he picked it up dutifully punching it. “This is a ticket to ride! Make sure to keep it safe! It lets me know you’re meant to be aboard the train.”
He answered grinning as he offered back the gilded ticket. It was ever so important to have these.

ROTG: Polar Express!
His attention was stolen entirely. Listening intently to every detail and theory thrown at him. Curious of the boy’s thought process and ever so interested in what he had to say.
With a thoughtful look he gave a nod. “Interesting theory, but I have a question for you: why not both?” The smile he gave was both mischievous and knowing at the same time.
He’d just dangled a treat at the end of a fishing pole. After all why did it just have to be one? Why did science just have to be science? Why did magic just have to be magic? Why couldn’t both exist at once? What if Sci-Fi and Magic existed together? What if?Â
And if so, could he believe it?
““I’m not sure,” he pressed his lips into a thin line, ““I’ll need to think in that. Though it could be like Alchemy.” The teen pulled out a pen on small notebook that was kelt in his pocket. He started to scribble down different notes, going to be completely unaware of anything that would be happening around him,
With a chuckle he looked over towards his lantern. Moonbeam dutifully flitting over and hovering just out of sight over the boy’s shoulder. A dutiful light to brighten the page.
The conductor in the meantime moved to go get refreshments.
callin all of you out who are liking and reblogging stuff, GET ON THE TRAIN!
As the conductor he payed little mind to his brother. A nameless entity aboard the train that cared for the passengers and welcomed aboard those that were chosen to join the journey.
Chattering happily with the children and young teens alike, finding out the little things that made the train choose them. Finding the little things that made them open up and brighten that spark in them, even as the train was still on its path towards the pole.
Finally settling next to his brother in a small lull at hot chocolate was enjoyed by everyone. A small break for a busy conductor.
Noah shuffled over slightly to make room, nursing his own hot chocolate. It tasted oddly to him, for reasons he was unsure of. Perhaps it had just been so long.
He settled the half full cup in his hands on his lap, watching the ripples come and go from the train.
“I forgot how good you are with kids.” He said softly, looking over one or two in particular. “Though, I guess that’s not terribly surprising.”
“It kinda is my job.” He reminded. Though his look was fond as he stared out over the gathered children.
Nightlight sighed, resting his chin in one gloved hand. “To be honest I’m a little rusty. I haven’t done this in a few years.” Left the watch to someone else, the hat hung up and someone else taking up the mantle of conductor in his place. He’d been... well even he could lose a spark every now and again.
“I’ve just been working on the Clipper. Keeping an eye through the lights... It didn’t help.”
