belated(?) munday stuff: is this going to be an ask blog with character development and some kind of a plot or is Wolfchev going to stay static, relationships with people aside? are we going to see more of his backstory? :D

Thank you for such a cool question and please, don’t worry about it being belated! I don’t really take it as being specific to a particular day and besides... I reblogged the post on a Tuesday anyway, eheh. :’)

Either way, onwards to the answer! Since this is an ask blog, a lot of the content depends on what you, the askers want! I do try to vary my content between funny and serious (and you might've noticed I've been leaving some little hooks and in-depth replies from time to time - I hope they've been enjoyable so far!) but ultimately how it goes most of the time is - light questions get light answers, and serious questions get serious ones. 

I wouldn't mind delving into the serious stuff more often - I do have a bunch of ideas re: giving more insight into Wolfchev, his backstory and what makes him tick. The question, of course is - if you guys would be interested in that? I generally try to gauge interest in the different kinds of replies/angles by the amount of notes and follow-up asks I get, but that's far from a perfect method, isn't it?

Well, what it comes down to is - I'd love to have some feedback on this! I do want to keep the blog entertaining for you guys, most of all. Seeing you enjoy what I do is the best reward, after all!

Well, my answer will be a surprise to you, in that case! I chose Wolfchev mostly… as a joke. :’) He wasn’t even that much of a favourite. Back before I started, there was a lot of biolab blogs popping up, and I jokingly asked my friend what was going to be next - a Wolfchev blog? Then, we both pretty much went “DO IT”… and that’s how it all began! What was going to be a joke thing quickly grew on me, and this blog and community became one of the most positive experiences I’ve had with roleplaying. And Wolfchev himself? Let’s just say, that pesky scientist grew on me a lot!

Thank you for the question! <3 I think my favourite thing about writing Wolf is the sheer variety of tone you can have for him while still staying in-character; from creepy and threatening, through maniacally deranged or a source of comedy, to serious and ruthless - he’s truly a man of many faces, and it gives me a lot of freedom in answering questions. Often, I actually end up having a dilemma whether to go for a serious or a funny answer!

[The book handed over is a pocket version and seems well-read. It’s pages contain many colored pictures of various monsters along with the text. Some dark stains are on the cover, which reads “Guide to Dangerous Creatures and Beasts of Today”]

"This? Not a bad choice." - he says, taking the book into his hands. He adjusts himself in his chair, waving at the siblings to take a seat nearby. "It's an old one" - the man adds - "written by idiots who'd rather rely on legends and hearsay than do proper research." Those harsh words almost seem to be said with a fondness - or as much of it as a man like him - a man who's long since forsaken any respect for humanity could muster. Wolfchev pulls the long hair from his face, tucking the blonde locks behind his ear, then begins reading.

The twins soon learn the tale of the fallen capital of Rune-Midgarts, brought down by the greed of its ruler who reached for power that was not his to be had. The slain warriors and citizens, whose bodies gave rise to a new type of creatures, who now swarm the capital's ruins, attacking anyone on sight. The proud, loyal archers, warriors whose souls were fair and just - their legacy has been stained by corruption and darkness, personified in the form of spectral armors, ghoulish, bloodthirsty apparitions and knights, clad in black, whose blades are said to turn even the purest person to evil. The scientist interrupts the story from time to time, explaining the magnetic fields surrounding animate armors or the dangerous microorganisms that symbiotise with the creatures and cause death to those unfortunate enough to become wounded.

The stories continue. First, the enormous colony queen of Morroc's desert, said to be a grotesque abomination of both human and ant, forsaken even by Odin himself. Certain species, the scientist explains, develop characteristics mimicking those of its prey; this clever trick uses the promise of nourishment, or - in this case - a sexual partner, to lure its prey into capture. Second, the famous ruler of the ancient turtle tribe (testudines are, after all, well-known for their long lifespan) who led its reptilian army to strike the lands of Izlude; then, the giant ice wolf who strikes fear into those who find themselves lost in the blizzards of the areas that never seen anything but snow. 

The tales go on and on. If, in this moment, someone was to look closer at the man delivering them to his audience, they'd notice - his eyes barely glaze the book, but the stories don't waver, spoken in the confident voice of a person who has read them hundreds of times before.

It's only a long while after his assailant's departure that Wolfchev is able to make any sound at all.

Gemini S-58... I assume even someone like you - that is, possessing the cognitive abilites rivaling those of a particularly simple protozoan, is at least partially familiar with the homunculi technology developed by Kellasus and his team? The same technology that the imbecilic biochemists of today use to prance around with their designer pets? Well, the Gemini Project built up on that foundation, aiming to create a being that - by possessing the ability to change form at will - could pursue and impersonate targets without being detected.

A particularly nasty obstacle we've came across during development was the high instability of Specimen 58's homunculus-based body - a result of the extreme strain put on it by the act of changing forms. Due to this, and its just as unstable personality, the project has been put on hold. Specimen 58 is - for all things considered - a work in progress. Its skills with that Butcher, however, are anything but. And let me tell you...
