Hello, I’m Ella. This is a very eclectic blog. I talk about reading, writing, listening (both to music and audio drama fiction podcasts) and often complain about university. I would love mutuals from any and all of the above mentioned things <3. to my audio drama mutuals: does anyone have a recommendation of a short audio drama that someone could listen to in a day or so? I really want to get back into audio drama but all of my favourite shows are quite long and with a lot of them I kind of need to relisten to parts before I catch up and I think this is making me procrastinate getting back into them. I think if there was something that I could listen to quickly I’d get reinvested in the form and feel more motivated to catch up on my favourite shows if that makes sense. Really any genre is fine just as long as it’s shortish and it’s something you really like.
first day on tumblr, but hiiii cassette tapes from august! season one is so short and bingeable! we are getting ready to release some more stuff soon as well :) a girl in 1986 rhode island receives a tape recorder for her birthday, which is where she goes to chronicle falling in love with the new girl at school! it's got some sci-fi comedy and it is a passion project of mine that i'm excited to revive soon with the conclusion to season 2!

Generation Crossing - scifi album that made me sob uncontrollably 😁 (~1h 40mins)
The Goblet Wire - extremely cool surreal microfiction (~2h)
Land's End: A Shepherd's Tale - vv cool short folk horror with scary sheep and gay people (5 episodes, ~2h)
The Tower - reflective & gorgeous & strange, 3 short seasons all of extremely manageable length & then a 2-part finale that ripped me apart <3 (~4 and a half hours altogether but you dont need to listen all at once)
Camlann - i actually feel like you might have heard this one before? if not i think it's up your alley. really cool mythological post-apocalypse fantasy w really gorgeously real-feeling characters (~4h 20mins)
SINKHOLE - cool weird fiction w/ unique framing device & world (2 seasons, ~5h altogether)
Conversations With Ghosts - pretty much what it sounds like lol. it's about 6 and a half hours altogether but the episodes are a v digestible length & i think knowing you like Remnants this might be a good pick for you thematically :)
for individual episodes i will also put forth The Cryptonaturalist, which in the past has been one of my go-to shows when i've been in a listening slump. episodes are about 20 mins and don't require you to follow an overarching plot it has a lovely overall feeling of wonder and weirdness and nature :) and also features a poetry interlude each episode. helps me get back in a podcast-friendly frame of mind
+ here they are in podcard form - not all the cards r fully complete atp but hopefully still useful to have a bit more of a visual format & trailers all on one page :D

Chel's parts are told forwards, Peter's parts are told backwards, as they slowly reveal what happened to make it go so wrong. Approximately two hours total.
I made a list of my ten favourites here (they’re all under five hours), which includes In Strange Woods (a folk musical by the creator of The Bright Sessions, it’ll probably make you cry) and New Year’s Day (about two immortal stage magicians meeting up on New Year’s Day every thirteen years, and slowly falling in love).
There’s also Almelem, (2 hours 50 minutes long) about a group of con-artists and true believers creating their best story yet in first-century Palestine.
Aaand The Ballad of Anne and Mary (also roughly 2 hours 50 minutes long), which is another podcast musical about a journalist interviewing two of history’s most famous female pirates about their lives while they’re waiting to be hanged. Obviously, they’ve got to escape.

I gotta recommend slaughterhouse road. It's 3 acts, all less than 20 minutes. And it's an australian romantic horror MUSICAL!!! And nobody has listened to it T^T
Similar vein, but you might have already listened to it. 36 questions. Another musical. Also 3 acts, but these are around 50 minhtes each. It's about a couple who is handling that she lied to him about her identity.
Time:Bombs is about bomb disposal and was created as a sort of challenge, where it was written, produced and released in a week. Because of this it's quite short (around 50 minutes in total).
On the longer side (around 5 hours total), but it's my comfort podcast, so i have to recommend it. Kaleidotrope. Rom-com that also plays around with a bunch of romance/fanfic tropes.

I like The Hidden Almanac (written by Ursula Vernon aka T. Kingfisher), a relaxing series of 3min-long episodes detailing saints, local news, history and gardening in a fantasy world. Plot comes in only way later down the huge backlog and most of the episodes are standalone.

there's also an audio fiction newsletter that focuses on short, fully completed audio dramas called The End (link) that I'd advise checking out. gives total run times, genres, etc and can be a really useful tool for discovering new (or underappreciated) shows

proud victim of the tumblr accent. it's fading out of public consciousness as the tik tok accent takes precedence; a linguistic evolution that makes the tumblr accent 85% funnier to unsuspecting civilians. it's like releasing a disease on a non-inoculated population. coughing baby versus hydrogen bomb.
