°A cold Tuesday
"Both the doctor and the dentist want you to get strong."
"DOCTOR, DENTIST, BOTH WANT YOU HEALTHY."
While I was waiting at the dentist office, I realized that we give medical professionals a lot of beef when all they're trying to do is help us. Sure, the screaming kid that was before me wasn't happy, but he should have flossed.
I've already shown you how to sign dentist a few different ways, here's doctor:
All you gotta do is tap your wrist with either the tips of your four finger tips or with the letter "D".
There ya have it!
I made a new gif! It’s asl one to nine!
°A boring Wednesday 💤
"Do you mind if I borrow your car?"
"YOU-LOAN-ME CAR, MIND-YOU?"
Here is a sentence I've been struggling with during my studies. The hand placement of "LOAN-ME" was tricky for me. I've finally got it down, though.
It's the letter "K" or "P" for both hands. Form the letter and place your hands next to each other so their sides touch.
The cool thing with "LOAN-ME" is that you can use it to say "Loan to me," or "Loan to you." Here's how:
"LOAN-ME" you start the sign in front of you a ways and bring it back to yourself. It's easy to remember if you think about taking something from someone and bringing it to yourself.
"LOAN-YOU," you start at your body and move away.
This sign is really neat because it's a directional sign. They're verbs that use the direction they're being signed to show what's going on.
So you could sign, "loan to them," "loan to him" etc. All you do is alter the direction you sign.
There ya have it!
°An afternoon in January ❄️
"I work at the dentist office. I'm a secretary."
"ME WORK DENTIST OFFICE. ME SECRETARY."
There are a few ways to sign dentist:
They all work great! The last one is the most up-to-date sign. However, this sign can be a little tricky because it looks an awful lot like "GLASS." (The material not the object you use to drink water.)
The way you can tell the difference between "DENTIST" and "GLASS" is by your facial expressions.
Here is "GLASS":
Notice the way I shape and hold my mouth.
But there you have it!
Want to learn Sign Language?
So I formally took American Sign Language for 2 years because I am in High School and I feel it would be useful to share some Websites, Apps, Videos and other things for people who are interested in learning Sign Language or already know a little bit and are just looking for some links! I did not find these on my own, this is a list a teacher gave me. Hope this can be useful to people and please share so more people are aware of this post in case they are interested in learning! Thank you!

°January 2020 ❄️
"I want to have lunch with you tomorrow."
"TOMORROW, WANT TWO-of-US LUNCH."
There is two ways to sign "Lunch" I'm using the "easy" way, you could say. I guess it's more like slang.
You sign "LUNCH" and then "AFTERNOON"
Or you can just tap "L" to your chin.
ASL resources
Here are a few things that have helped me on my learning journey!
1: Barron's 500 Flash Cards of American Sign Language
I'll always recommend you find an online dictionary where you can see the sign actually executed. However, these flashcards are helpful. Some signs are outdated but the way this little box is organized is really neat.
2: Signing Savvy
Signingsavy.com is a really great online dictionary. You don't have to pay anything to look up your questions but the membership really is worth it. It's $10 a month. Really useful tool!
3: Bill Vicars
This dude's YouTube channel is freaking great. He has organized playlists of different ASL units. His facial expressions (Which is very important to learn when signing. Research Nonmanual Marks for more on this.) are real and expressive which has helped me with my own facial expressions.
ASL - American Sign Language University (http://lifeprint.com) Resource site for ASL students, teachers, interpreters, and parents of Deaf c
Hope these help!!
°Sunday, January Something ❄️
"How was your weekend?"
"HOW YOUR WEEKEND?" whq
There are few different ways to say "How."
Below is the lexicalized version. I'm not all that great at lexicalized fingerspelling just yet 😂 for those of you who don't know, lexicalized fingerspelling is when the fingerspelling of the word looks like a sign rather than just normal spelling.
The third "How" I use in the first video.
I'm still just a student, if I made any mistakes, please let me know!
So! How was your weekend?! 😄
WARNING: FEELS!!!
