This is a really tricky post to have to make. Due to some recent developments ( none of which I blame on anyone ) I’ve come to the decision that perhaps the time has come to retire Aspen. She’s been around since 2013 and undoubtedly holds a very special place in my heart, and saying goodbye to her isn’t something that I’m sure that I’ll ever do, but without the person who helped her so much to blossom into more than what I could have ever dreamed for her-- to continue to write her would require drastic alterations to the happiness she’s found. I would much rather let her rest than continue on knowing that she isn’t the most honest version of herself. I’m so grateful for the friends that she’s found, and the friends that I, as a writer have found in many of you. Maybe one day I’ll pick her up again ( who knows with this place ) but for now, I’d prefer to let her have her happy ending.
My heart is extremely heavy, but I know that this is the best option given the circumstances. I don’t think that I plan on leaving entirely -- I will, in all likelihood, take up a new character ( suggestions are more than welcome, and if you have pressing connections that might work to have filled with the presence of a new face around here, let me know that too. I also won’t be secretive with who I am whenever/if ever this character appears). My aim aspen.holt will be available for contact as well as my inbox, and this blog -- much like my others in her history, will remain as an archive of her journey. Thank you to all of you who have given Aspen the room to grow. This isn’t so much a goodbye as it is a ‘ Thank you’ and a ‘ See ya around ‘.
