Isn't hornet and lace biologically related? Grandmother silk is laces mom and is hornets grandmother. The weaves are grandmother silks daughters by magical intervention just as lace is her daughter by magic construct as well. Ans hornet is a daughter of the weavers making her a related familial party. Looking passed the fact lace is meant to be an immortal child and it would be pesophilic based her body being stuck as a child's forever since hornet clearly sees her as a child they the whole game, wouldt it be incest.
did you miss the part of the game where the weavers found out they weren’t actually grand mother silk’s children, started rebelling and causing the events that led to the conditions pharloom is in for the Whole game or did you just play it with your eyes closed
alright im bored at work waiting for the bus so imma just hop on this rq bc why not
-Going off of the 'family by means of blood' thing, Hornet and Lace are not biologically related. This is because Lace is not a biological being. She is an artificial construct made of magical silk that was given life by a goddess that transcends the bounds of reality. Biological relations are defined by two individuals sharing a large amount of identical genetics with one another. Lace doesn't have genetics. She is silk.
-Going off of the 'family is who raises you' thing: the Weavers not being GMS's actual children is the central plot point of the entirety of Silksong. GMS force-evolved a bunch of spiders into advanced sapient bugs via magic, then called them her daughters as a means of exerting oppressive control over them. GMS's love for her daughters might be legitimate, but that doesn't negate the fact that she treated them like objects, and it is her violent repossession reaction to them disowning her and fucking off that got Hornet into Pharloom in the first place. Also, Hornet wasn't raised with Lace, so she does not see her as a sister or as an aunt. Lace is a stranger to her when they first meet, just as Hornet is- to an extent- a stranger to Lace. So if they're not related via blood and they're not related via adoptive or legal ties, then they're not related at all.
-Going off of the 'family is who you choose it to be' thing: if GMS is not Hornet's actual grandmother by blood, nor Hornet's grandmother via adoptive ties, nor someone that Hornet sees as a grandmother via lived experiences, then she is not Hornet's grandmother at all. If anything, I'd argue that much of Hornet's conflict with her involves her violently REJECTING GMS's attempts to force herself back into her life, reaffirming the Weaver's declaration that she is not family, but a cruel ruler and a jailer. This isn't adoption or reconnection with estranged family, this is Hornet killing the person who treated her actual, biological family like runaway slaves. Which may seem like an extreme comparison, but considering the fact that the Weavers lulled her to sleep and fled because they did not want to serve her, and she responded by capturing or killing them simply to string them up in cages to prevent them from running again because she saw them as property, not daughters...I don't think that it's too far off (this applies to Lace as well. She just didn't have the same sort of noose around her neck that the Weavers did).
Either way, I think it is extremely clear that Hornet rather violently rejects GMS's attempts to make her her newest little pet, so they aren't related bc of something Hornet actively chose, either. If you want to write Hornet and Lace as sisters/found family, then by all means, go ahead. But that would be a role that both characters would have to actively CHOOSE to take on several years after the canon story has ended, which is a personal fanon interpretation that cannot be retroactively used to claim people who'd prefer a different read are shipping incest. I, for example, believe that Hornet and Lace both have far too much family trauma regarding dead siblings to want to go through that shit all over again, so I personally cannot see them ever viewing each other in a familial light. Additionally, I think it would be an uncharitable blow to Lace's future to chain her to Hornet via a familial tie, as Hornet already has a power advantage over her as her source of silk- making her a family member would just give her yet another avenue of control (which Hornet would not exploit, but it's a tighter chain than a platonic or romantic bond).
This is, of course, my own post-canon interpretation, so by my own logic I must point out that I do not expect everyone to agree with this point of view. However, I also felt it necessary to bring light to the fact that 'family' is not always a good thing, nor should it be shoehorned into every non-romantic, platonic dynamic. Just them being friends/companions is enough.
As for the Hornet saying that Lace is 'clearly a child' thing- that is once again reading into Hornet's words way too literally. Lace, again, cannot fit into the biological definition of being a child on account of her not being a biological creation at all. Sure, she acts childish- but that doesn't mean that she's actually a child, either. I know people much older than me who still look and act like petty teenagers- that doesn't mean that they're kids. The skill in her fencing, the many long years she's spent playacting as a knight of the Citadel, and the way she speaks all points to her not being mentally a kid, while her physical body is unbound by the limits of time nor definable as a childish physique on account of being a fake bipedal bug- all we can do is compare her to Phantom, an ACTUAL aged silk construct, and even that doesn't do much bc Phantom's age signifiers are them literally falling to pieces rather than being able to look at their face and go 'okay, they have a child's face, they're a child'. IMO, Lace exists outside of age on account of her odd creation, but nothing in the text outside of dialogue from already-biased characters (the Caretaker, aka the residant grumpy old fart) actually conclusively pinpoints her to being a kid. So: not pedophilia, either. And that's not even getting into the fact that Hornet's moniker of 'Child' for her started off as an insult before morphing into a title, bc the whole reason Lace has a crisis of personhood is because all she can be is her fickle mother's replacable, single-use daughter.
So no, Lacenet is neither incest nor pedophilia, and the whole thing of 'GMS wasn't the Weaver's parent'/'Lace is not a child' are both central, important themes of the story that cannot and should not be overlooked

Fun centipede fact: centipedes always have an odd number of body segments so they can never have naturally a 100 legs unless they lose some!
