"Anyone know any good insomnia fixes? And donāt be a fucking smartass and say Soporil.ā
āTemazepam. Lots of it.ā
Ā Ā Ā Overreacting?Ā Ā
He blinked at her. There were other factors involved in a desert demise other than the condition of oneās self. The boy wasnāt about to start listing off the threats. It wasnāt nice to be unprepared on the chance occasion someone may run into some of the resident wildlife, or wander into the many pools of sand that would easily swallow any average shinobi whole. If he kept an eye on this one, then he can keep the desertās defences hush-hush from the girl a while longer. You can never be too sure of who youāre talking to. Outsiders; canāt trust them right off the bat. Who comes to the desert without a clear goal anyway? Taking her home was currently a no go. Which only meant he had to direct her elsewhere. And he knew just the place.
Ā Ā Ā Ā āThere are caves North East of here. If you wish, I could take you there.ā
...Caves?Ā
Red flag. She was plenty anxious before, but now this off-putting man was asking her to follow him to a cave? No. Absolutely not. Sheād sooner participate in another nonary game.Ā
Hands placed firmly on her hips, she looked away from the red-headed man. This desert was irritating, and she was tired of putting up with it. The sun was bearing down on her; sheād never been this hot before. This man, on the other hand, seemed completely unphased. He was obviously accustomed to this heat...maybe he could help her get somewhere cooler. She couldnāt possibly cast her doubts aside so easily, however.Ā
Ā āŗ āUh, look, I...I donāt know.ā She paused, letting out an exasperated sigh as she looked up to the sky. Not a cloud in sight.Ā āThis heat is pissing me off, and I donāt even want to think about the sun burn iām gonna get, but...You canāt really expect me to just follow you through the desert. That would be stupid.ā

She didnāt hear him the first time? Was it due to dehydration? Or did it just go over her head? In any case, heād have to repeat himself for the girl once more. More clearly. More concisely.
Ā Ā Ā Ā āI said, youāll die out here. This desert⦠Isnāt kind. Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Thatā¦and you look like youāre struggling as is. Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā You should turn back. Go home. Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Before the desert eats you alive.ā
Words meant with good intention became lost in his flat tones and permanently grim expression. The boy stared, studying the fair womanās face, travelled straight down to her shoes, the up at the pom poms in her hair. She was a little . . Ornamented? Adorned in decoration? However youād want to put it. People went out into the desert like this? Nice clothing would only get dirty and filled with sand. He met her blue eyes once again and spoke.
Ā Ā Ā Ā āWhere are you trying to go?ā
...
He actually repeated himself? What an ass. She could tell dealing with him was gonna be a blast. Standing upright, her eyes fixated on the man before her. Pale skin, thick eyeliner, tattoo, no eyebrows...just who exactly was he? His clothes were strange, but no stranger than her own. Voice deep and brash--the opposite of her own. His words were just as flat as his voice; Clover let out a long sigh before speaking. This was gonna be fun.Ā
āYeah, eat me alive--blah blah, I get it. Donāt you think youāre overreacting? I mean, yeah, I may be struggling a bit but that doesnāt mean iām gonna keel over.ā Another sigh. She shifted her feet around as she spoke, sand-filled shoes long a go discarded.Ā āWhere? Hmmm. I donāt know, really...Just, trying to find something. Anything really. A town, a village, a shack. An oasis would be pretty nice.āĀ
āI-I donāt mind. I mean⦠the exercise would be good, r-right? Plus, I-Iād feel bad if I let you go home alone without anythingā¦ā
Let him be the gentleman he is, Clover. He really wouldnāt mind escorting you there. He gave her a warm smile as he held the umbrella up for the two of them.Ā āJ-just make sure you lead the way, so we donāt get lost⦠Okay, miss?ā
āAh, thanks! Iāll return the favor some day! Promise~ā She took a short step towards Pariah, turning so she could stand by his side.
Now blessed with her own personal escort, Clover began to lead the way with a giggle and a light tug on his arm.Ā āUh, I really appreciate this and all, but this āmissā business, needs to end. It was nice at first, but now itās making me feel really old. My nameās Clover. I uh, probably should have said that a long time a go. Sorry.āĀ

"No joke. I hate cold weather. Especially when it snows and it wants to drain what little energy and motivation you have, you know?ā Lydia chuckled slightly as she pulled the hood of her jacket up over her head as the other took the umbrella from her hand.Ā āHmm⦠I guess you have a point. It still sucks that you have to run around in such.. nasty weather. Anything else I can do you help you out?ā
There was no need for this poor girl to suffer the effects of this hellish weather any longer than she had too. And if Lydia could help, she wanted to.
āAgreed, nothing is worse than snow. Well, maybe some things are worse than snow, but snow still sucks. Canāt get anywhere or get anything done with snow in the way.ā
Clover clutched the umbrellaās handle close to her chest. She felt a little guilty taking it, but she couldnāt really turn it down. She had someone to meet with, and she couldnāt show up soaking wet.Ā
āYou already helped me out plenty with the umbrella, but maybe there is something else you can do for me. Iām supposed to be meeting someone in this town, but iām not familiar with the area so Iām a bit turned around. Maybe you could point me in the right direction? But before that, could I get your name? Itāll be difficult to return this umbrella without knowing who gave it to me. My nameās Clover, by the way.ā
āA-are you sure, missā¦? I-I mean⦠I donāt mind giving it to you, if you really want itā¦ā
The poor boy was too nice for his own good. Heād probably get sick from getting so soaked, but he sincerely wished to help the girl out. After all, heās been in plenty of situations where heās needed a hand, but there was no one there to assist him. Thinking for a moment, he tilted his head before finally speaking up.
āM-maybe⦠i-if you wonāt accept my umbrella⦠th-then I can walk you somewhereā¦?" Even if it was just a train or something. He didnāt want to leave her outside just like this.
āItās fine, really. Iād feel bad taking it anyway. Walking me though, thatās....tempting. You sure you wanna do that though? I mean, the cafeās not exactly close. Itās about a twenty minute walk from here.āĀ
The cafe was such a cute little place, Clover thought. It was run by a local elderly couple, and Clover was employed there as a waitress--at least on paper. It was truthfully just a guise to cover her SOIS affiliation; however, on busy days the couple would occasionally ask Clover to lend a hand, like today.
