Thank you so much for the support we’ve received during the rebuilding process 💕
A third server is in the works and is privately being worked on by staff. We are in the process of setting up role perms, bots (poor Agott), and channels.
Things will be a little different this time around as we are implementing changes we did have time to get to in the previous servers. Expect:
Slightly different layout
Adjusted rules & channel descriptions
Revamped OC Channels
Adjusted spoiler rules
A new way to raise suggestions (?)
Different bots (temporary until Agott is set up)
Role color errors (whoops)
And… More!
Once again, we thank you all for the continued patience and support 💕 If you have any server related suggestions we’ve missed, please let us know in the comments & reblogs! My asks are also open to talk.
Follow us on other platforms:
An update regarding the current status of the server. #WHACord
WHA's biggest WHA was unfortunately taken down however,
The mods are starting to put it back together!
EDIT: Welp, Discord Staff struck down the server cause people were join too quickly so they thought it was of bots. Mods are disputing it but it really is ridiculous....

Spoilers under the cut.
With this chapter I think I have an idea what this "arc" will be.
We are getting one chapter that covers each of these points of interest before wrapping around and fully covering those arcs, with the only exception being the flashback which fully covered Qifrey and Olruggio's past. Ch94 covered Coco's part and her direction going forward, catching us up on her feelings and direction going forward. Ch95 covered Eoleo and Riliphin's part, and seeing as Lagrah, Beldaruit, and Zayamaiya are in the background, I am guessing these characters will play into there arc more. Ch96 covered Jujy and Hiehart as well as the girls and more of Coco, although we don't have a full idea of Agott and Richeh's role in this arc, seeing as they are front and center with Tetia they will most likely have a bigger role. Ch97 covering Luluci, Vinanna, and Easthies with the other Knights (with a surprise addition of Loroga of course). This leaves us with three "boxes" left unexplored. Ininia, Atwert & Galga (with a little Nolnoa), and Tartah & Custas. These could all be covered next chapter if it is decently long, especially if it is supposed to be a catch up rather than an actually starting of their arcs but I could also easily see it split into two chapters.
Anyways onto the chapter itself. In the chapter cover, the fabric Luluci is holding is reminiscent of a veil, and I wouldn't be surprised if that is because it is supposed to be demonstrating that she has a choice in Vinanna's offer. She can pull away the veil of the Knights, full come to terms with the fact that their actions are not just, or she can continue holding it up and hiding away from the truth.
This is further supported by Luluci's expression which is rather contemplative and she is looking into a reflection in the water, but cannot yet see who she is in the water. Reflection is a common theme this entire chapter. Luluci contemplates the paths offered to her by various people she has met in her life, however brief some (Dagda) may be. Taking the side of Easthies, becoming the Vice Captain as Vinanna wants, listening to Dagda's desperate request… all are options available to her.
Though if I am being honest, I think in the end Luluci will follow none of them, or at least she will go about them her own way. While I do think it is most likely she will listen to Dagda, I believe she will offer Custas a choice, rather than simply making Custas her apprentice and trying to force a connection. I also believe that in the end Custas will refuse that offer as he has no desire to be a pointed hat.
On another note, I find it interesting how willing Luluci voices those doubts of hers, and I very much worry about it as Vinanna seems to be a lot more conniving then we (or at least, I) initially assumed.
And thus that leads me to Vinanna. Ah, Vinanna. She is a lot more menacing and manipulative than I first realized. Baiting Luluci into seeking a higher position so she could access secrets she wants to know,
How she tests Luluci with glasses, despite already having made up her mind,
She takes pressure off by telling Luluci there are other candidates while still asking her to think it over, not taking Luluci's first refusal even though she says she is fully open to other options,
It all shows smooth, subtle manipulation we haven't really seen from other characters. It makes me want to go back and reevaluate what other manipulation she may have been using in previous chapters. One that is already coming to mind is ch48, where she suddenly attacks Easthies to demonstrate the Knight's power in front of the outsiders. Looking back at her expressions during this moment, they were all very frightening, I wonder if this was to "teach" Easthies a lesson and put him in his place.
He does look rather dispirited when he is defeated and pinned to the floor…
We have learned of a cruel aspect to her character, not only in what I previously mentioned, but also in the fact she would have erased everyone's mind herself if whatever was "amiss" didn't exist.
The way she speaks of it also implies to me that she would have been a lot more detached while doing so unlike Easthies who very much was driven by emotions. Before I didn't think much of Vinanna, if anything I was surprised by how open minded the Captain of the Knights Moralis was, but now we are seeing her true colors, and I am far more interested in her now than before. Her impact on Easthies might have been larger, and more negative, than I assumed.
Before I speak on Easthies, I do want to quickly mention that this chapter we learn they ship prisoners to Adanlee, they don't use a windowway. It makes sense, A windowway would be too easy for prisoners to use and could be easily exploited where as ships are easier to control and guard.
Anyways, Easthies time, though to be honest I don't have to much to say on him specifically. This chapter confirms a part of Easthies I was already pretty sure about. He makes no exceptions. Not for coworker, friends, people he cares about (and he does care about the other Knights, as seen with his reaction to Galga), no one. Order is absolute.
He seems to very much recognize how fragile pointed hat society really is, though there is something he is hiding, really everyone of upper rank is hiding, even Utowin recognizes the secrets being kept it despite not being directly told to him like Luluci.
I am guessing this has to do with the (ch57) "These things are not for use to decide," (ch57) "You divulge too much," and all of ch75 pg16 where Vinanna mentions a cold wind while Beldaruit reacts in fear.
Now the biggest surprise for me this chapter. Loroga. Hey buddy. If anyone is lost or wants a recap on him cause it has been three years (or 37 chapters) since we lost saw him his is Agott's rumor dude. He appears at the end of ch32 then the beganning of ch33. He also appeared in ch60. He is a member of the House of Roenton, descendant of one of the original three who formed the Pact, similar to Agott who is of the House of Arklaum. He seems to be jealous of Agott's skill and is one of the people who perpetrated the copying rumor. He also seems to be doing it because he has a crush(?) on Agott and wants/values her attention, however negative it may be. At least, from the little we have seen of him that is what I gather. I wouldn't be shocked if him seeking out Easthies has to due with Agott. Agott is apprenticed to Qifrey, appretice to a Wise One so Loroga is following in the same path but with Easthies.
I don't think Easthies will accept at first. I think Loroga will need to push for him to get accepted. I do wonder if they will be good or bad for each other. On one hand, Easthies is very principled, in a way Loroga is not. Loroga is arrogant and has a superior attitude, but he is rambunctious because of that, though he isn't that big of a troublemaker, simply difficult to work with. Meanwhile Easthies is strict. He doesn't have a superior attitude, he simply acts on what he thinks is right. It is far deeper than Loroga's holier-than-thou attitude. Then again, if Luluci accepts Vinanna's offer he might just go to her instead, which will get him a far more compassionate mentor, and maybe someone who could more easily set him on a better track. I suppose only time will tell.
Anyways, flan is delicious. You deserve it Luluci.
From what we have seen Tartah's goal right now is to deconstruct pointed hat society and tear down the lies they often hide. He doesn't believe the Pact is just or right in nature. Iguin, wants to tear down pointed hat society as he sees their secrets as lies and not just or right in nature. During the clip we see they make a decision at the same time as both Iguin and Coco, first heading the opposite direction of Iguin, and then choosing the same direction as Coco. This is interesting because ch87 makes it seem as though they are heading the same direction. However, Tartah is making these decisions flipped, what I mean is that Coco and Iguin are facing away from the camera, while Tartah is facing the camera. In other words, Tartah is choosing the same path as Iguin every time. With how similar the two are, I do wonder if Tartah will maybe become their apprentice. That would be a truly intriguing dynamic.
This also relates back to these panels:
Iguin and Tartah are so very similar to a point where even Coco notices it.
Everything looks so good. I have been waiting so long for something like this. Here's a link to where you can preorder it yourself: https://mag-s.jp/pages/witch-hat-atelier
Do note that a physical release for EN is slated for 2027 though a pdf version can be bought before that.
Coco has had two separate instances where she watches someone let themself die and one where he very heavily implies it in front of her.
The Romonons who let themselves die to be free of the agony of being trapped in gold, dying as they reach for what is comfort. This one is completely by choice, they could have chosen to keep living, but they refuse and purposefully reach for death. This arc really did feel like an ending in many ways. Coco watches as they melt, thanking her for giving them what they need to die. That isn't all that died that day, as the way Coco sees the world was irrevocably changed. How could it not be? She just watched an entire civilization commit suicide in front of her, all because they couldn't take the absolute suffering magic inflicted on them. A curse preventing comfort from ever being in reach and finally being provided that comfort meaning death. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?
The silverwood curse requires the host to never relax, never let their guard down, never feel comfort, all in order to continue living. When Custas's father, Dagda, learns of this, he snatches away the total memory-erasure spell that Coco would have used on Custas. He takes away the chance for Coco to once again be the catalyst for a type of death. Dagda lets his wounds run their course and lets the spell wear out. He dies bloody and broken to save Custas, to remove the comfort he had, and save his life. The opposite of the Romonons. In this case, he thinks continuing living for the sake of living, even without your source of comfort, is worth it. At this point, Dagda already saw himself as a corpse walking, so what does it matter if he kills himself? Especially for his beloved son. This weighs heavily on Coco's mind, death is being used both to reach comfort and to take it away.
Then Qifrey brings up his own death almost like a joke. "A wide-open sky to spread my roots." He is currently in a position between the two, a balancing act. Will something finally push him to end it all? Or will something happen that will make the possibility of feeling comfort ever again impossible?
We see Qifrey writing something soon after. Perhaps a final goodbye as he is anticipating his death with his secret revealed, especially as he reminisces on the past, thinking of all he has had to do to get to this point. Though for now he will hold on. Hopefully, that goodbye will never have to be read. Maybe, just maybe, a third option can be found in the future, one that costs no one anything.
Due to the nature of these various curses magic invokes, comfort means death and life means no comfort. At least, that is what Coco is being made to believe time and time again. It is no wonder Coco is so distant from the others. While they have seen bits and pieces, they have not faced the worst of it. With luck, this snowfall will serve as a time for Coco to recover, but seeing as death and the cycle of life is something Coco will once again have to face, I worry for her state of mind.

And with that out of the way,
Agott has really come far. Near the beginning, she hated doing simple tasks and would always seek out something challenging, but now she is seeking out the basic simple tasks just because she wants to help. Coco has had the opposite arc, she used to always find something to smile or be excited about but now she is oh so very calm. At the beginning of the series being able to go out and help all these people as witches doing their witchly duties would have Coco jumping around and smiling her face off, but in this chapter she kept a neutral expression the entire time. Her love for magic has grown so cold. Fitting for snowfall.
All the new animals we have been introduced to have been very cool. I am glad we finally got to see a real life owlcat! Seems like they are very interested in the brushbuddies which worries me a bit. Best for Brushbuddy and Brushbully to stay out of sight. I don't even think the fury of Brushbully could take down an owlcat.
I wonder if Hiehart wants to seek advice about teaching. He seems very good at masking, but Jujy's recent behavior after Silvereve has most definitely been bothering him. I wonder if he wants to stay and learn from Qifrey, if so, I hope Jujy and Tetia will get to talk. They both have had dealings with healingcraft and doubts about the strict rules of the Pact afterall. Jujy with the counterclock, defying Hieharts orders to not use it, and Tetia's experience at Silvereve with the unknowings and this chapter where she contemplates the cycle of life and death and how it bothers her. Olly's words spoken to her brought her no strong comfort. Instead, it seemed to instigate more ponderings. Olly says to remember how the death made her feel so it drives her and affects what type of magic she will create in the future. He intended this to get her to make more spells that would help prevent injury, however, I think this has her pondering how to reverse injury instead, which of course lies within the realms of healingcraft.
The person with the dragon resembles the people of the Ruler of the Sea, and as they are dragon riders, I wouldn't be surprised if this person guided migrating dragons. I wonder if Coco and the rest of the atelier will have to guide the eggs, and if they hatch, dragons, safely to the dragonpass isles (espically since the magazine release tag in JP literally says: With a scaled dragon's egg in hand... the migratory dragon isles arc begins!).
Something interesting that I think will come up soon is Qifrey's dream all the way back in chapter 36. On page 7 it shows Coco reaching out to Qifrey calling his name while it is snowing. Qifrey monologues about whether there will ever come a day where he can sleep soundly but is cut off before he can finish his thought. I expect this come up again this arc. I wonder if that dream was in fact a vision caused by his silverwood eye.
My idea for how the Pact should change in WHA's world
First of all, magic has to go free, everyone has to learn the secret. Otherwise, you are creating all sorts of problems with rebels and secret factions against the main government, not caring whether that government is good or bad. And you create ignorant people like Coco or Custas who draw a spell with no idea of the consequences or how it actually works.
Obviously, what the Pact restricts has to be changed. Healingcraft needs to be allowed and witches need to be allowed to learn medicine, however, medical magic should be restricted to the trained. If ink mixes with blood, you get a scenario like the riverbed collapse or the leech. If a sigil or sign is messed up, then you could end up giving someone a fate worse than death. Bottom line, learning any sort of medicine as a witch is allowed, but only trained professionals are allowed to use healingcraft magic. Of course, the trained professionals can release basic spells for basic common injuries to the public so that everyone has easy access to magical medical care.
Transformation magic follows the same line of thought. Only by professionals, though certain forms that make your mind have the intelligence of a beast are forbidden.
Getting rid of memory magic at first seems like a good idea, but it is actually quite a good alternative to the death sentence. Of course, it has to work like how the death penalty works. Only for the most extreme, heinous crimes. No more mind-wiping witches who do minor crimes. And the Knights cannot be the judge, jury, and executioners. They are only the executioners. A separate force must be made to act as judge and jury. (honestly, just adding this part alone would be leaps and bounds better than what is currently going on in WHA's world)
That was the simple part. Now it is time for the near impossible.
How should ink be handled? You can't grant it to everyone. Mr. Manic gets his hands on it and suddenly there is a nuclear bomb going off in every major town. Little Timmy gets his hands on it and draws a circle for fun and suddenly Little Timmy doesn't have his fingers.
Silverwood ink needs to be tracked. I do not mean literally with magic. I mean on records and who buys what is kept track of. Silverwood would only be able to be bought at government-owned locations so that criminal records of people can be tracked better and so that unofficial, back-alley dealers will be easier to find. You would also need to prove a certificate that proves you went through all the steps of being an apprentice and passing the test to become a witch. Part of becoming a witch will be learning how to keep silverwood out of easy reach. My thought is that if they could make a spell where each inkbottle has a password associated with the person who owns it, then that could put a stop to many messes. Sharing your silverwood ink with someone who has not received the proper training would be a crime, as that is extremely dangerous.
The prisons would have the same spell as Castle Ezrest. No magic will be able to be cast within the prison and silverwood ink would be highly monitored and watched for to make sure none of it gets within the walls.
Now, this is all good in theory.
But there is one problem.
The silverwood tree.
Like it or not, this thing is staying. It does care where you want it to be, it goes where it wants. There is an entire grove under the sea in the Great Hall and it either got there on its own or the pointed hats placed it there (and that opens up an entire can of worms I am not going to get into). Either way, the silverwood can propagate and spread wherever. It just requires comfort to grow and something to eat it to spread. That is it. You will not be able to get rid of these trees in areas where you don't want them and you can't keep it a secret how ink is made. That just once again places too much power in the government who already has enough power in this system and just adds a new secret to be kept, but this time only the government knows it.
The best thing to do would be to have it so a reward is given to whoever finds a wild silverwood tree. This would encourage civilians to report it when they find it, even criminals and people not afraid to break the law. They could also have it so the Knights perform regular patrols looking for any silverwood.
It isn't a guarantee, but it is better than nothing.
Share your thoughts and what you think! I am extremely curious what ideas other people have.
Your Father's Son - Eoleo, Dean, and Riliphin Edit
This is my first edit, and tbh I think the thumbnail is better than the edit itself... Actually started working on it around three months ago, got it finished in time for ch96! (manga spoilers up to ch95)
My predictions in a bingo for the next chapter coming in three days (JP raw, English translation in ten days).
In case my handwriting is too mess from left to right: Healingcraft lore, Tetia backstory, Hiehart isn't fully aware of Jujy did, Brimhat appear, Silvereve fallout, Third test prep, Arkco moment, Name puns, Orufrey moment, Zayamaiya appears, Eoleo is weird & ominous, Riliphin POV, Snowfall (free space), Teacher Olly, Hiehart fangirls over Olly, Beldaruit appears, Tetia & Eoleo interact, Tetia POV, Dean appears, Riliphin is manipulated, Tetia lead/goes to the prince, Beldaruit is a hostage, Jujy & Tetia talk healingcraft, World building about winter witch duties, and finally, New location.
This is clearly Tetia because you can see her hair. She also seems to be wearing some kind of veil and you can even see a ring on her finger. Now, I don't think this ring is Richeh's ring because the ring on the chapter cover preview has some sort of gemstone meanwhile Richeh's ring has none.
Now, while I don't know enough about flowers to truly say what those could be or mean, they do remind me of poppies.
Poppies tend to have connections to death or a sense of slumber. Seeing as Eoleo is going to become an important member of the plot and his previous connections to Tetia, it could symbolize a certain blindness to the truth. Being asleep and unable to see what is in front of you.
In this panel Eoleo surrounded by some type of flower, most likely foxglove, goat horns, and a black horse.
I originally thought that those items all represented something related to Eoleo however after a closer look I think those items represent each of the things he talks about. On top of that, I think they represent how he views each of the things he talks about.
The horns that I originally thought were goat horns are likely ram horns. While not as clear after that, I think the black horse represents the dragons because the common meaning of foxgloves is deceit and that represents witches best. While we don't know enough about the Ruler of the Sea to say what foxgloves could mean for his people, my first impression of them is that they are not a people who hide away or deceive others.
The crests can be used to further determine which item belongs to which ruler since of the Ruler of the Flock's crest appears to be a ram, unfortunately the ruler of the sea's crest is hidden, but because of the four legs, scales, and long tail it is most likely a dragon but it could be something else.
I found a few things that ram horns could represent. The main things said about their symbolism was, "physical strength and bravery", "fertility, power and masculinity", and "the power of assertion." The most common trait across all these is power. Now, why would the Ruler of the Flocks represent power? Well, for one, he has constantly been shown to be someone the other rulers get behind and follow as well as being someone who is always subtle and clever with his words to get ahead. Seeing how much Dean and Eoleo use words as weapons, I wouldn't be surprised if he associated the ruler of the flocks with power.
(context for the image: that is Easthies speaking about the rulers who are observing how powerful witches really are, chapter 65)
Funny how the ruler of the flocks has the "flock" of rulers agreeing with his every word.
As for the black horse, to be honest, I am not quite sure. Everywhere I looked a different culture gave it a different meaning. Sometimes they represented guidance, sometimes death, war, other times courage and victory, journey to unfamiliar places, and rebirth. I decided to look for what a black horse could mean specifically in Japanese culture but at most all I could get is that they were used in rituals to call for rain. Hopefully in future chapters we will get more context and learn more about the ruler of the sea and then maybe some light will be shown upon the symbolism.
If those flowers are foxgloves... I have found a few interesting things on them. They seem to represent deceit and trickery, fitting for the witches who constantly hide, keep secrets and lie. From Eoleo's perspective the witches constantly lie. Tetia said they were friends then acted scared of him and avoided him whenever she could. And seeing how his father thinks poorly of witches, I wouldn't be surprised if he has told Eoleo that witches can't be trusted.
Oh, and for further proof that the flowers represent witches and deceit, here is a panel where Dean is accusing Beldaruit and witches for disguising their control as help, and, lo and behold, the same flower is hanging around them. Even if I am wrong about the type of flower, what it means is clear. If these flowers appear, deceit in reference to witches is not far behind.
Now with all this in mind, I want to consider the last panel. This one is devoid of imagery and talking about non-witches. Those unable to use magic. I wonder if that is how Eoleo views not being able to use magic, completely dark. Especially with how often magic is referred to as lighting up the dark in WHA I could see it being that is how Eoleo sees a life without magic. He loves magic and desperately wants to use it so life without it is,
And for those region locked here is a Google drive link to the chapter: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1hnDFJr3jJMjaNeQliSth5NZ56II_k4K4
And here is a fanmade translation: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1nn7hxA_Kq78OmN3B9Bk3xdWV9nMOUmh7
On the first page we can see that Eoleo and Riliphin are both standing on scales which is a little ominous espcially since Eoleo has the "favor" as his part is lower than Riliphin's. Already it is clear that in their "friendship" or whatever it is they have is an unbalanced relationship.
Then on the next page when Riliphin instists that he should return to the Great Hall Eoleo looks/acts hurt and and implys that Riliphin is trying to leave to avoid him, which of course, Riliphin denys. Eoleo seems to be trying to put pressure on Riliphin to listen to him. The prince handing Riliphin his own cloak instead of a new also implies a sense of, I don't know how to put it, power over him I guess. A witch's cloak is something they always wear, it is part of what allows them to do their duty and a main identification feature, by covering that with his own cloak it is almost like he is saying that Riliphin is a member of the Ezrest family.
Then he goes on a whole monologue about how Riliphin, "Just must stay beacuse Beldaruit is still recovering and who knows how long that will take! The doctors you have under the sea? They couldn't possibly heal him the same way we can! Just stay here. Don't be anxious." Not creepy or uneasy or weird at all.
Next page Eoleo is even scarier, using metaphors to convince Riliphin to leave the treatment to them. And he ends it on, “Let the non-witches… mind that which lies beyond the realm of magic.” He looks bitter here to me. I think Eoleo is really jealous of witches and their ability to use magic.
Page 5 kinda seems like Eoleo is threatening/warning Riliphin? He stares directly into his eyes and says to not look so sorrowful into his own eyes or he'll "attract the attention of the King of Maladies" (Maladies means illness) Like. What? I can't tell if Eoleo is trying to say that Riliphin might attract his attention which is bad (why would he warn Riliphin about himself) or maybe he is saying that Riliphin should try to keep good spirits otherwise he might fall ill? Maybe?
Page 6 Eoleo seems to be trying to fish information about witches and get Riliphin to warm up to him. Luckily it seems like RIliphin seems to be getting a bit more wary of Eoleo but I don't think that will be enough. Riliphin is not nearly as experianced as Beldaruit and Eoleo is a lot less hostile and direct than Dean.
Though I do wonder if Eoleo only seems this menacing because we only see him through witches' eyes. Other than page 5 he isn't really saying anything hostile or ominous just that Beldaruit's injuries will take a while and that Ezrest's doctors are the best so going to the undersea doctors can risk Beldy's health. This is supported by chapter 70 where Eoleo isn't put into a dark light at all. Riliphin seems to have a rather positive view of him and Eoleo seems to be actually helpful and well-meaning. It is only after Riliphin has been stuck at the castle for while (and therefore more tense and wary) does Eoleo appear menacing again.
SNOWFALL! SNOWFALL! SNOWFALL!
Good to see that Tetia is trying to limit her inteactions with the prince. Also, hell yeah, Jujy and Hiehart letss gooo!
I am sure you know of the tale of the Star Messenger and the Silverwood Maiden. For reference, here is the page with the tale,
Coco and Agott both have many connections to this tale, with Agott being quite frequently connected to the Star Messenger and Coco being connected to the Silverwood Maiden. Their characters and progression as characters align with the tale incredibly well, because just as the Star gave the Silverwood magic, Agott gave Coco reminders of the joys of magic, lighting up the cold harsh realm of the dark realities of magic with the bright hope of joys magic can provide.
Even this panel is set up almost identical to the part of the tale where the Star gives the Silverwood magic.
Beyond that, Coco has had many drawings where she is associated with trees, usually surrounded or hanging off their branches:
The third one is quite interesting because she is not only surrounded by trees but also stars. I think that is because, in a way, Coco is also the Star Messenger. Just as Agott gave Coco hope, Coco was the one who helped Agott progress in her emotions and feelings enough to even see that hope in the first place.
And Agott of course has many connections to the Star:
In the first image Agott is wearing her jacket that she wears in chapter 58 and 94 that has stars on the hood and sleeves, and in the second image, Agott has many star symbolisms on her cloak, she also notably is the only girl with a star tattoo on her arm, something the Star is shown to have on his arm.
Despite this, Agott is shown to be holding her hands in the same position as the Silverwood when she receives the gift of magic.* Again, this is because the role of Silverwood and Star goes both ways with Agott and Coco.
*Although I could also see it being that she is facing the same direction as the star so she is giving the magic instead of receiving but it could really go either way.
Interestingly enough, adding onto my previous mentions of Agott and Coco being shown to be both the Silverwood and the Star, there is one panel where their roles are blatantly flipped,
Here, Coco takes the place of the Star and Agott the role of the Silverwood. You can even see trees at the bottom of the panel with Agott and stars at the top of the panel with Coco.
Both of them have given each other a path forward. They have both gifted each other a gift that lit up their worlds. When Agott was stuck in her own selfishness, expectations, and ambitions, Coco brought her out of herself and convinced her to drop her walls down simply by being there and being willing to constantly push to be closer. This made Agott realize just how alone she was and was setting herself up to be while also getting her to desire for a deeper connection with the people around her. She stopped shutting others out. As for Coco, she was weighed down by the world. Everything seemed to be closing in on her and the people she loved and because of her bleeding heart she felt that it was up to her to fix it. Magic became a collection of horrors rather than the wonder she first thought it was. But Agott drew her out of that mindset. She showed that she doesn’t have to keep bleeding for others. She could focus on herself. Agott brought back that whimsy and wonder that had been lost to the world. Lighting up the night with those sparkling animal spells, the child that was so abruptly cut out of Coco was able to be and breath. This time, without the expectations of the world closing in.
In the words of the tale, Both Agott and Coco descended to the world (Agott from the window when they first meet and Coco from the unknowing’s world instead of the heavens), where they grew smitten with each other (platonically best-friend/sister way or romantically is up to you, doesn’t really matter), and blessed each other with the gift of magic, that the other might be free from suffering in their respective cold, harsh realms.
Of course, that is not the end of the tale. “But the Maiden’s love was split, she cared not only for the Star, but for all life with whom she shared her home. She took the gift meant only for her, and passed it on to the meekest, most hapless of creatures in all the land.” In this case, I think we are dealing with future content we have not yet seen in the manga. We have covered the first part of the tale, they have met and gifted each other magic, but now we are facing something curious. While I did say that both Coco and Agott are both the Star and the Silverwood, I do think Agott still leans closer to the Star and Coco closer to the Silverwood. However I will go over what this part of the tale means for both sides of the coin.
The tale in context of the Star being Agott and Coco being the Silverwood:
If Coco’s love is split, then I could see it as her still having a bleeding heart and wanting to help as many as she can, the opposite of what Agott encouraged her to do. In this case, she might want to share the secret of magic, passing on magic onto the unknowings. We don’t know the rest of the tale so we don’t know what comes of this other than “Thus began the age of man.” With the way the tale is worded I could see the Star being angry at the shared gift, and I could see Agott maybe being angry that Coco shared the secret of magic because of the problems it might cause but with how characters have been developing it feels like when the secret of magic is revealed Agott might be on board. Of course, maybe the Star wasn’t angry that the Silverwood shared the gift. Maybe he was pleased, content to follow along or at least not fighting back against her decision. In that case, Coco shares the secret with the unknowings and Agott is behind her and supporting every step of the way or at least not fighting her on it.
The tale in context of the Silverwood being Agott and Coco being the Star:
WIth Agott, we have already seen her sharing the gift of magic with “the meekest, most hapless” in chapter 70.
But I wouldn’t really say that Agott’s love was split, the whole lesson Coco taught Agott was that sharing magic was important and following through on what she was taught wouldn’t “split” Agott’s love. So maybe her love is split between herself and what she learned from Coco, but that still doesn’t fit with the tale because the Silverwood wasn’t stuck between love for herself and the magic the Star gave her. If there is some specific parallel for Agott and the Silverwood then it is going to be some future event that I don’t have any context for. Maybe she will be torn between a brimhat Coco’s ideals and past Coco’s ideals and she passes on the past Coco’s ideals that brimhat Coco doesn’t support anymore. That is my best guess.
Chances are, it will be a mix of the two. That is how it has always gone with these two. Whether they intend for it or not they share everything, their problems, their solutions, their sorrows, their joys, even their parallels. These two are in it together.
We see that there are more pages after that and I cannot help but wonder what parts of the tale we are missing and what they might reveal for the future of Coco and Agott.
Either way, I am excited to see how the story unfolds from here. Thank you for reading!
