ok so when I heard that the knew dog was called encephalitis ideas started bumping around in my brain for how that happened (because I mean seriously who names a dog that). and also there’s a ton of Hanni-As-Actual-Hades in this fandom, that plus the Persephone motif:
Will names the new dog Persephone as a romantic gesture (symbolism out the roof, cue super metaphoric conversation. Hannibal probably cries). they shorten it to Sephy bc you can’t yell PERSEPHONE across the dog park
cut to a year later, some Unsuspecting Random meets the nice couple across the way, “Sephy’s a cute name, is it short for something”
and before Will can say “‘Persephone” Hanni cuts him off with this handsome innocent aren’t-i-charming smile and says, deadpan “It’s actually short for Encephalitis, believe it or not”
and will. just. you fucker I married you.
