Intro Post

Hello!! This is primarily an oc blog, main is @dvdclown — any follows and asks will come from there x

Please do not follow me if you’re under 18, I post and reblog nsfw stuff on occasion and also just don’t really want to interact with any kids.

Refs for all my OCs so far are under the cut :)) Names in red are in need of an update in some form lol

Aster — my main girl, left her home region of Galar to travel for several years before settling in Unova.

Vernon — Aster’s older brother, works as a cabbie for the Corviknight flying taxi service.

Romy — Artist living in Nacrene City and Aster’s housemate. Specialises in sculpture and ceramics. Throws excellent parties.

Kaz — Guitarist and singer in a band with Heidi. Enjoys getting into fights and will very rarely be seen without various bruises.

Heidi — The other half of the band, makes use of synthesisers and drum machines that can be looped for live performances. Has a day job at the Nacrene museum in the archives.

Cleo — Barista by day, raver and DJ by night. Very energetic and excitable. Uses a skateboard as her primary mode of transport. Seems to have very different personalities in person and online.

Diego — Vernon’s flatmate. Always doing something different. Excellent cook.

Shoko — Vernon’s childhood friend and other flatmate. Works at an upscale bakery. Has issues with fatigue and burnout.

Celestina — Shoko’s girlfriend and an accountant working for the Galar league. Works hard and parties harder.

Bram + Frances — Aster and Vernon’s parents. Bram is a cabbie for the Corviknight flying taxi service. Frances is an art history lecturer at a prominent Wyndon University.

Tansy — PLA oc that I’ve done nothing with for ages lmao. Can be boiled down to “What if the Hero of Hisui was Philomena Cunk?” Eebied from a universe where pokemon don’t exist, either as real creatures or characters from a franchise. Not that she’d remember.

OCtober day 14 Inspiration

Moodboard of stuff that inspired Erika hehe :))

Erika has two sides to her….. flashy party girl and hard working academic. The first point of inspiration for her was the movie Human Traffic, I thought it would be really fun to do a character inspired by the 90s rave scene and went from there, though it’s less obvious now after developing her . The other movies in the mix are there more for the character dynamics. The Red Shoes is a movie that reshaped everything I know about storytelling from a visual angle. Even if it’s not a direct influence that movie is relevant to everything I create. Ai Yazawa’s stories also live in my brain rent free, the way she writes relationships will always be a huge influence on how I write all my own characters. Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket was a subconscious influence on Erika as well. Erika is less “pure” than Tohru but her compassion for others and habit of pushing her own traumas and negative feelings aside for the sake of others certainly carried over.

The American Psycho and Euphoria screen caps are solely because of the insane skincare routines Bateman and Cassie have. Erika is nothing like the former and I’ve never actually watched a single episode of Euphoria hahaha she is just the kind of girl to do a 3 hour skincare routine every single day.

Symbolism

Like I did with my other OCs last OCtober I’m going with the major arcana that best represents Erika. Strength in the upright position is about emotional/mental strength rather than physical, and this is reflected in Erika through her patience and compassion for others, alongside her dedication to her talent and various hobbies.

Future

Erika in her 20s!! She’s still fairly on trend and flashy in her appearance as an adult, but she’s toned things down for when she’s at work (likely as an archivist or head librarian at a major university). I haven’t drawn how she looks as she gets even older, but her hair will become even shorter and she will shed the full glam makeup and trendy outfits for more casual androgyny. Sort of like real life style icon Jane Birkin lol

OCtober day 9 relationships

Focussing on Kaz and Heidi’s dynamic this time and it is. Awful lmao

So these guys are childhood friends. Grew up in the same neighbourhood and ended up spending a lot of time together as a result. They formed a band in middle school and have kept it going ever since. Only thing is Kaz wants to be a successful musician; touring, headlining festivals, winning awards, everything. Heidi has zero interest in becoming famous to the point of intentionally turning down or ignoring any opportunities that could cause their band to get more well-known. They know the band means everything to Kaz and they also don’t care that they’re holding him back. For Heidi, control is the most important thing in their relationships and that is especially the case when it comes to Kaz. They’ve known each other for so long Heidi genuinely doesn’t know what they’d do if Kaz started to change as a person or started to drift away from them. This need for control and fear of losing their friend causes Heidi to start sabotaging Kaz’s other relationships at times, especially romantic ones. Heidi isn’t in love with Kaz, they just hate sharing him with other people. He can have other friends and sleep around with other people as long as he comes back to Heidi at the end of the day. Which he always will.

Kaz knows Heidi isn’t the nicest person in the world but he’s a piece of shit half the time too so part of him feels like he deserves the dynamic they’ve developed over the years. Like an attack dog and his handler, he does what Heidi asks of him and in return his need to get into fights with other people gets enabled. Heidi nurses his wounds and he in turn is their lackey. Their relationship has been this way for so long he doesn’t really know any different until he starts spending more time hanging out with other people and learning what normal friendships are like. Even then it takes a long time for him to start pushing back against some of Heidi’s demands.

He has no idea that Heidi is purposefully holding the band back. If he were to find out he’d be absolutely devastated. Would probably end their friendship completely.

OCtober days 6, 7 and 8!!

Past

Erika in middle school!! She had a major growth spurt part way through her 2nd year and started rolling up her sleeves in an attempt to hide how her uniform was suddenly a bit short on her. Used to be a bit self conscious of her height (5’10”) but doesn’t care anymore.

Her likes include

Shoujo manga. Despite her librarian talent giving the impression she’d be primarily into stuffy classics or otherwise dense literary fiction, which is true, she also has a soft spot for the romantic fantasies of stories aimed at teen girls. She is a teenage girl herself, at the end of the day. But also she longs for the kind of whirlwind romances you only get in fiction.

Black coffee. Okay actually she just thinks she likes black coffee because she’s gotten used to drinking it every morning when she wakes up at the asscrack of dawn for her insane skincare routine. She needs like 3 sugars in her coffee to be able to stomach it otherwise it’s too bitter though.

Jungle and Drum n Bass music. Also other electronic genres that were popular in the 90s raver scene. Not that she was there for it. But her half sister was and she has had a major influence on Erika’s taste in music.

Her dislikes include

Being photographed. She never knows how to pose and is constantly worried about how she looks. Finds herself unintentionally cringing whenever a camera is focused on her and ends up grimacing to various degrees in most photos shes in.

Ugly book covers. Or just boring ones. Not judging a book by its cover is all well and good but Erika likes keeping her personal collection aesthetically pleasing. She won’t buy a book until there’s an edition with an interesting cover.

Wearing pastel colours. Just doesn’t think they suit her very well and prefers a richer colour palette for her wardrobe.

Under-appreciated OC/Re-designed OC

Heidi used to have a more edgy/alt design I guess? But it didn’t really make sense for them when they’re more of a behind the scenes individual and dislike being the centre of attention… so went in a preppier/vaguely dark academia direction instead haha :)) also wanted to play around with slightly more severe facial features to what I’m used to and Heidi seemed like the best candidate for that.

They’re under-appreciated because out of my main 4 guys, Heidi is the one I struggle to work with the most beyond “chain smoking manipulative bitch” 😅 there’s a lot of directions I could take them and I never fully committed to any of them so. I instead put Heidi on the back burner OOPS.

Aster is my GIRLLLLLL I haven’t done shit with her lately because I’ve been preoccupied with other characters but she is my ride or die. The one I project everything onto. My silly rabbit. She’s also due an overhaul or just needs to be put in a different environment. An original story even.

Day 2 Newest OC

Erika is one of my newest OCs, made earlier this year. She’s also one of my favourites to play around with at the moment. I just like playing dress up with pretty girl characters in my mind because I have lacked the energy to really draw anything as of late OOPS

She started out as a dangan OC (her talent being the Ultimate Librarian) but she’s kind of morphing into her own thing separate from fandom as I keep finding myself disinterested in writing high schoolers and way more interested in adult dynamics. Perhaps her and Aster will meet in another universe…..
