Working on final projects! Some times all life takes is a cup of coffee and the drive to keep going
I don’t have a perfect study routine.
I don’t wake up early every day. I don’t always stay focused. I don’t always understand the material the first (or second) time.
Sometimes I spend hours “studying” and realise I've retained almost nothing.
Sometimes I avoid starting because I'm afraid of confirming that I don’t know enough.
But sometimes...I sit down, and it clicks.
Not everything. not perfectly.
But enough.
And I think that’s what people don’t talk about enough. Studying isn’t about constant productivity or aesthetic perfection.
It’s inconsistent. messy. slow.
It’s trying again the next day.

Study photo dump! My brother had a hang out with his friends in the mall and I had to come because I knew how to get there.
✅ wrote reviewers for my quizzes
✅ brainstormed for a project
✅ remained focus with minimal distractions during study sessions

Study days will eventually account to something

Do your best in everything and you’ll end up very happy. Of course, it comes with its sacrifices

Nunc coepi!
Now I begin again!
It’s been a while since I posted, got busy. Setting up my phone for a time lapse does tend to take up some time and space. So I’m coming back by posting a different kind of study, one that matters a lot to college major, special education. This is me practicing grade 1 braille.
The quote “nunc coepi” is a Latin phrase signifying that life is about coming back, and beginning again and again 🩵🫶

My simple reason to get started on studying:
In James Clear’s book on Atomic Habits, he said to develop a habit, you have to make it satisfying. Just like most people, I originally don’t like working on school things, and sometimes, I still don’t. What helped me to get started on studying were my study timelapses. Every time I hit record, I have to “look in” because the more focused I am when studying, the more satisfying it is to watch later. Mixing this with music, coffee and peace and quiet made studying all the more enjoyable.
Why I would want to continue:
The most obvious answer would be because I need the grades. Beyond that however, it is because studying makes me a step closer to my identity goals. For each time I study, I embody the identity I love about myself, studious, organized and in love with learning. I love this whole concept of identity goals. Identity goals means that I aim to become someone. The goal is not simply a high grade, but to become qualified as someone who deserves it. Thus, grades becomes not the end goal, but simply an output of someone who developed to reach it.

Work on your goals, they are worth caring for.

My rules for academics:
I. Be comfortable with uncomfortable
II. Want to do hard things
III. Set time for things

Some times what keeps me going in life are my small passion projects where I learn whatever I want. Headphones on, world off, and my pen at hand
Community of Learning
There's this old video of John Green talking about how platforms like this, Tumblr, and YouTube can be really great for learning, how it's amazing how people can talk about physics and cats in the same video.
At the same time, I've been watching so much videos on journals, analog life, and tutorials on making your own personal curriculum. In essence, my YouTube feed have been filled with videos on learning.
What saddens me is that I look around in the spaces that I'm in and I can see that not a lot of people are interested in learning. For example, a lot of people in my class are prone to using their phones in class. It's pretty upsetting how doom scrolling has been the new "hobby". It's pretty much done everywhere. Now, I'm not trying to be some weird anti-screentime person, I'm just speaking on the fact that there's more to life out there than doom scrolling stuff. Well anyways, for all the learning lovers, ravenclaw, studious people out there, I'm going to put here a list of channels/videos for thy learning enjoyment. --The obvious famous ones-- Ted Talk: https://www.youtube.com/@TEDx Talks on a lot of different topics, the app is also worth getting Big Think: https://www.youtube.com/@bigthink Has neuroscientists talk
Kurzgesagt: https://www.youtube.com/@kurzgesagt I loved binge watching them when I was younger, mostly on earth science, bio and tech
Psych2Go: https://www.youtube.com/@psych2go Peeked during the pandemic, psychology related
Justin Sung: https://www.youtube.com/@JustinSung Lots of study/learning tips
--My niche-ish favorites--
Rachelle in theory: https://www.youtube.com/@RachelleinTheory Been exploring her channel recently, it's mostly about notebooks and learning, super fun for those journal enthusiast Topics I love looking into: - journaling (a way for more productive use of time, relaxing the mind, sparking curiosity and idea forming - science of learning - Bio & chem, sometimes more on med Andd yup, that's it me rn :). Keep learning always!!

We live different lives from other people. Sometimes, that makes us feel behind in life. How is it that they achieved such thing and I didn't? The reality is, we all walk different paths. What's important is that we focus on our goals and our way of achieving them. We're not behind, people's priorities are just different from yours and from mine.

It was never about the grades. Nor was it about what you should have done. It was about two things: the passion for learning and knowing what you could offer.
