I know you’re on your CRK era but plss. I wanna take this out of my chest!
I feel like this mf is pulling a Chief Ripley on us. He HAS to know about the Ptolemy Dynasty threats and the sabotage incoming in the future. Maybe he has some sort of future machine that lets him see further into the future. He decided to not tell the team about the Dynasty because like with BUREAU, the chief wants the team to find the enemy to the roots and also make sure they don’t slow down or freak out. And why would he have Jack pull us from the future?? It’s literally against their own rules and policy to mess with the past. But Chief Scott probably sees that there’s no other way around this and of course, Player is the BEST detective he could find 😎
Though, I kinda wish there were more conflict to this with the team… maybe Orlondo pointing out that they’re already interfering with the past by having the Player with them at all and yet they can’t save his husband… something like that.
While I may be in my CRK era, please don't think you're not allowed to still send in Criminal Case stuff! I might not answer them as quickly as I once did, but I still enjoy diving back into CC from time to time! (Even if it's just a little bit.)
(Side note: I promise I'm not ignoring the other CC asks in my inbox. I just don't have ideas for answers yet!)
One thing I wish Travel in Time explained was WHY we were recruited from the past! I'm pretty sure it's stated multiple times by different teammates that changing the past in any way is a big no-no! And yet, the team picks us up from the past like there's no issue at all! Like, hello?! Pretty sure you're breaking your job's number one rule!
I used to have a theory similar to yours: that the future somehow knew about Nebet's plot to change the past, and that's why the team was allowed to pick up the player, since they knew they would be needed for the mission to succeed. As for how the future knew all this, I never got that far into development for my theory!😅
That being said, Chief Scott somehow having a hand in things similar to Ripley with The Bureau would make sense! After all, he is the Chief of T.I.M.E., so I assume he knows things far above the team's clearance. And one of those things could be somehow discovering Nebet's plan to change the past and how the player is vital in stopping it, even if some rules need to be broken.
I could see T.I.M.E. having some kind of machine that lets them monitor the timestream; after all, how do they know where to send teams to fix things? If the past changes, theoretically, people in the future would remember the new past, so how does T.I.M.E. know when something changes?
And agreed that there could have been a little more conflict between the teammates. I know we get some, but they seem either small-scale or dealt with quickly. Especially compared to what we see in other seasons, and while you could argue, "well, S6 is shorter," we see greater in-team conflict in S7, and they're the same length! Heck, Hope leaves the team for a couple of cases!
But circling back to Chief Scott, I wish we'd seen more of him and learned more about his character. We know next to nothing about him, despite him being in charge of a time-travelling agency! But nope, he didn't need screen time beyond the few brief apperances/mentiones and him DYING in the alternative future! Talk about getting the short end of the stick!
