Shae sat in her office, going through the money from the last week, making sure those idiot twins did what they were supposed to. Most of the time, the girl found herself fixing their mistakes. It didn’t matter how many times she went off on them, they still managed to mess something up. But it didn’t seem so bad that night. Maybe she wouldn’t have such an awful night. A small smile formed upon her face as she signed her name at the bottom, finally indicating everything made sense. While putting away the paperwork in the color coordinated appropriate folder, she heard commotion outside. Her heart sank into her chest, really hoping nothing broke and it was something she could handle rather easily. Opening the door, she peeked out, seeing people running around like mad men.
A loud grumble escaped her lips as she shouted, “You idiots! I’m going to kill you! The hell did you do?” Shae’s voice practically reverberated through the casino, waiting for the twins to show up and apologize. But they never did. It seemed as though they were running just as much as everyone else did. There was something in her casino and she wasn’t having any of it. With everything Osric trusted her with, she wasn’t about to let it all fall apart over some creature. Walking around the tables and chairs, she tried to search for what might be causing the commotion. As she felt something brush up against her leg, she let out a loud squeal and flailed like an idiot. “WHAT WAS THAT?”
Her next gut instinct was to climb on one of the chairs and stand on it, looking out over everyone. “Does ANYONE have an explanation for WHATEVER this thing is? Speak NOW or I will ban you all from my casino.”
*✧·˚. ☪ ・° “ Now that's nae something you see every day. ” Leaning forward she seemed to stare at an gapping holed up dented air vent. And from the looks of it, she knew exactly which one was missing from the looks of the dusty webbed paw print left behind and a million little dots. “ Ruffnut hold th' fort we've got ourselves a roller. ” Hearing Ruffnut say something but Astra didn’t stick around to find out what that was.
Without hesitating, Astra turned and stepped behind the Haunted House. She jumped for the fire escape ladder pulling it down and raced up the rickety, rusted thing. She ran for all she was worth, twisting and turning. The old fire escape probably hadn’t been used in years, and as she rounded a corner, a step gave way. The shift of her balance nearly being lost left a scream locked in her throat but her instincts kicked in and she did a front flip to land further up the fire escape recapturing her balance. Though the entire fire escape shifted and swayed under her feeling a cold shiver run down her spine, counting her lucky stars it didn’t give completely.
Only she felt a pang of fear rush through her being up two floors as Astra was able to take in her surroundings for just a split second. “ Bloody hell, ” she whispered horrified under her breath. And though she didn’t fear heights, she certainly had a bit of a minor Gephyrophobia problem. Not that she’d ever in her lifetime admit to such a thing. She worked on a Pier for Hels sake. Though to her surprise, Astra’s instincts were on autopilot leading her, and not giving into fear or doubts. Reaching the top of the fire escape she needed higher ground in the sense to search the ocean surface and even the crowd. She pulled out a popped glasses lens from her front pocket using it as a magnifying glass skimming it across the ocean’s surface hastily searching for splashes and bubbles. Worried in the sense the lil guy fell over and clearly unknowing if the lil’thing could swim or not. Not seeing anything out of the normal she started searching the crowds.
Catching a glimpse of the ghastly velvet navy blue creature sniffing the air and curling in a ball and rolling along the Pier leaving little pin prick marks against the wood. There was nowhere to go: it was a couple feet drop, and then a couple more if she fell through the Pier but she didn’t want to think about that. She turned her head and took in her surroundings knowing her next move. Without hesitating, she freeruns from fire escape to fire escape, even having to sometimes monkey bar the steps until she got to a platform to slither her voluptuous lean build into. Until she was at the end of the line getting as low as possible to jump. Astra braced herself for impact and expected it to be dreadful. But to her surprise, she landed gracefully on her feet, with hardly any pain.
But it wasn’t the pain she was waiting for to be exact it was the spell of lightheadedness for being further in the Pier that was out of her comfort zone. Taking off in a sprint, feeling confident she could cut the lil’buger off and capture it before it could get any further. Failing in the grace department as she began stumbling and tripping against her own feet ever so often. Rounding the corner Astra blocked the path of the curled up velvet navy blue balled creature. Unfurling he made a low key ‘gurk’ sound of surprise, his nostrils flaring as she could hear him breathing quickly through his adorable nostrils. She was so close the moment she dived to grab him, but in a split second he scurried off to the side and curled in a ball and rolled sneakily inside an unfamiliar building before Astra could grab him. “ Son of a BOOT! ” She said like anyone would say son-of-a-bitch just minding her manners around guests. How could he be that fast? Before she could finish the thought, she felt her fingers drag over her face as she made a long stressed groan noise.
Getting off the ground after her groan she slowly gazed at the towering building wondering what was in store for her? Standing before a Casino. That’s bloody stoatin - she thought to herself as she stood before the door pressing her ear against it. Is it sad to hear grown men scream like a girl? Mmm, probably not. She chuckled under her breath as it never got boring. Slipping inside silently she used the chaos and panic to observe the casino layout without being discovered, covering up air vents and weak spots so at least if he was going to attempt another escape it might be prevented. “ Don’t worry lass, ” Astra finally spoke up, stepping forward but she tripped over her own feet just a little. Guess that wasn’t exactly a smooth entrance on her part. “ He’s boney harmless, ” for the most part anyway, he’s just after the girl's glittery lucky charms.
A fluffy, velvety navy blue long-snouted creature seemed to sit on a hoard of Shae’s shiny casino coins&quarters. His front paws possessively placed over his little hoard as they clanked when he pressed his weight forward. Quick snorty nose breathing seemed to be present while he made a low growl squirkly sound near Shae as his head would toss from Shae to Astra. His little beady black eyes glittering as he wasn’t going to give up his newfound treasure and Astra could tell the girl won’t let him take her charms and coins with him. “ But careful lass not to touch him when he’s curled up in a ball. ” Astra warned as she learned T H A T the hard way. The little thing has one hell of a strong defensive mechanism like a porcupine his hair seems to turn into thin and pointy needles. Not sure what kind of lass she was but from the looks of it she looked like an I’ll-handle-this-myself-and-kick-it-of-it’s-hoard kind of girl.
