In case anyone has been dying to draw The Younguns from FGA, here are refs for them. Their palettes can vary as long as the values shown stay the same . I want to explain my design choices but I can't think of anything rn so if my notes seem stupid and self explanatory that's why. Sorry in advance.
Starting with my favorite (OC) FGA character (tied with Culto, which she would hate)-- Marie! Her catlike appearance is purely for aesthetics. I wanted her to look straight-laced; her clothing is reminiscent of a uniform, and made of sharp edges as opposed to flowy fabric.
An issue I had with previous designs is that she looked too grown up. To combat this, I gave her twintails, big princessy sleeves, and bows in her hair. She looks both soldierlike and childish-- suiting her character perfectly. I love this design. I love Marie. Double win.
Yes those are pants under her skirt. She hasn't actually appeared in story yet (she has actually but 🤫 you don't know that) but basically the reason is that this character would never ever ever wear a skirt that short without something underneath. Because men suck. And should be beaten with brooms . 🧹 also pants with skirt on top feels period accurate (but maybe that was late 2000s...?) idk. I wasn't a stylish kid
Oh she has a cute little cat pen in her pocket. Meow I love her so much waah
Up next we have Eva, our lovely introduction to the villain team Distruzione. Her Distru tattoo is on the left side of her chest over her heart (because she got it because of her love for Culto), but you can't see it the way her shirt is positioned. (Mista and Fugo would have been able to, though, because as any man talking to a short girl knows... we can see down your shirt. Sorry.)
It was imperative to me that she look as cute and unassuming as possible. (In contrast to Marie, whom I would say is trying to look tougher than she is. They're like if Bouba and Kiki were #girlfriends)
I debated over her having straightened hair as opposed to her fluffy curls (given her lore and bad relationship with her race, wouldn't it make sense that she would try to fit in a little more?), but ultimately I decided that having the cute girl have to straighten her hair to be cute would send a bad message. And besides, look how cute she is with her natural hair!
In-story, she is described as looking like a little doll, so I took a lot of inspiration from douyin makeup for her face (Giant pupils, small, glossy lips, etc.) and tried some Lolita/EGL vibes for her clothes (it missed the mark- it doesn't have the right silhouette for that. But it's still cutesy, right?) In hindsight I could have made her shirt silhouette a little more form fitting, but it probably would have made her look more "mature", something I definitely wished to avoid for this character.
My girlfriend said she looked fluffy like a bird. I was going for "angel" but I'll take it.
I tried to include nods to their Stands in all of their designs, so if you note an eye motif, that's what that's about.
Oh, yeah, and she has a little rosary there. Yay!
First of all, the art style change was unintentional. Mister Slenderman here was actually way too tall for me to fit him in correctly without messing up his proportions, and since his body type is unfortunately kind of important to his look, I had to be a little less cartoony with it.
If he looks like a little freak, it's because he is. He's sickly. His hair is unwashed and probably falling out. His eyes are wide and creepy. His eyebrows are mysteriously gone. (In hindsight, I should have made his eyebrows shaved, with ring piercings indicating where they once were. But I didn't think of that.)
The first thing you'll probably notice is that this kid is half naked. That is a purposeful design choice. I thought his lack of protective clothing denotes a person who carelessly has his entire self exposed. His vital organs-his stomach, basically- are left completely open for anyone to attack if they wished. The Distru tattoo being on his back is also an expansion on this character attribute; I lack the words to explain what I mean so I hope you guys get it.
His clothes were meant to be slouchy and asymmetrical much like the kid himself- lazy, forgetful, and capricious. His hair is also all fucked up and asymmetrical. It's made up of a bunch of tiny little curled up bits, though, you might notice the only completely straight part of his hair is the dyed streak.
I just realized now that I forgot to draw in the anklet on his left ankle, fuck. Dammit. I don't feel like getting my tablet back out so you're just gonna have to imagine it. It was s'posed to be a bunch of golden rings intersecting .
Ah fuck I forgot a ton of lines. Ignore my errors it was 2 am when I finished this okay. I didn't care about making him look more presentable it's sammy no one cares. Whatever
Anyway. I'm sure there's stuff I forgot to say so if you have questions just ask. Thanks. Also if you want to change stuff to match your vision of how they look also feel free. Hell yeah
Do these look cool? Maybe. Do they look like Jojo characters ? Idk! And honestly idc. I like them. Yay.
